Colt & Gray is "Perfect For" pretty much everything, including probably eating some duck testicles. Get adventurous.
The attention to our table service was somewhat lacking as compared to previous visits. The servers seemed disorganized for example they were giving cues in front of the dining tables to clear courses and prep for next course. Food was excellent but service was mediocre.
Great food and not overpriced; very well done! the halibut was amazing!!
Ambiance was great. Disappointed overall. My husband made his dinner selection off of the waiters recommendation for the bordernaise sauce. When the food was delivered we were notified that the bordernaise sauce was out and were given Bernaise instead. Food was good but did not live up to the high expectations.
In town for a night. Ok time. Wine list was disappointing. Never knew you could fit that much pepper on a steak. Cooked perfectly though.
As a vegetarian, menu options are small. What was also small was my dinner. $30+ for three raviolis. No ravioli is worth $10+.
I love narrow bones! However, these were not served for easy consumption. Usually, they are cut horizontally when served short. When served as a long piece, they should be cut lengthwise. These were tall/long bones and served cut horizontally. Couldn't get much, if any marrow out. They were cooked down so much that pretty much just fat seeped out. Pretty disappointing. :-(
This place explodes talent creativity, both in the kitchen and behind the bar. At the same time, they manage to serve up clever and delicious presentations of savory delights in a distinguished setting without pretentiousness.
It will always be a favourite!
As always, nice ambience and very good food and service.
Starters and small plates were excellent. Starters were gougers, shishito peppers and French onion soup. Main dishes came out with meat barely warm and were delayed because there was a 60 person party downstairs. The main dishes we had were the duck and pave. Pave was barely warm when it came out, duck was tough and cold. The sides with the main dishes were good, grits and potatoes, although the potatoes were a bit salty. Didn't have desert because of how long the entrees took to come out.
Sat us in the bar area which was very noisy. Asked for a quieter table and the moved us to a very nice quiet corner.
Service saw excellent, food out of this world, and cost was less than expected.
The restaurant is not well marked, so it's difficult to see from the street. Valet parking is not available, so it's either meter parking or a garage across the street. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and gives a good first impression. The person I assume was the manager was at the front desk, but ignored me until another host came back to the desk and asked if I'd been helped. The service was excellent, but the grass fed pave was tough and flavorless-probably the worst cut of beef I've ever had. None of us finished our meal, so it wasn't a fluke. I was highly disappointed, and won't be back.
Service was unbelievable. Waiter didn’t write anything down. Had to order the wine 3 times because he couldn’t remember. 2 out of 3 entrees had to be redone because they were the wrong entree. One had to be redone 3 times because the filet was rare not medium. It was not a busy night at all. Ridiculous! They did take one entree off the check, but the experience was stressful.
Excellent service and the food is fantastic.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere which was lively but not loud.
Great spot! Staff was attentive and professional, and the food was fantastic!
Amazing food, cute space. Service was more casual than expected.
Third time to the Colt & Gray. Had growing pains in the middle, but our last visit was back to the amazing tastes and great drinks we enjoyed on our 1st visit. Steaks are outstanding and bordelaise sauce will knock your socks off. Wine list has matured, has some reasonable gems!
We have dined here several times in the past. It's our favorite spot when we have something to celebrate or want a really nice dinner.
Fantastic service and delicious food. Great place for a date or cozy conversation
We came here for restaurant week and everything was fantastic.
I am from Chicago and Colt & Gray rivals my favorite gourmet spot back home. Best meal I have had in Denver!
Service was good until it became busy - difficult to get a drink due to bar being busy and getting check. We had restaurant week menu. Husband loved his meal (bone marrow, short rib, banana split) and my meal was all right but not great (pea toast, carbonara, choc cake). The carbonara wasn’t the best. Liked the ambiance and would return to try their regular menu.
We went for the Denver restaurant week. The food was incredible, well worth the hype. I was quite frustrated that it took 30 minutes to get our drinks. We had finished the first course before they ever came. If you Bar is that backed up the manager or one of the wait staff should be able to jump in and help!
We had a fantastic time dining here during restaurant week and will definitely be returning in the future!
The food was fantastic! Our drinks took longer then they should have but we were given a glass of prosecco to help bridge the gap between when they arrived. The staff seemed a little disorganized when we arrived and it eventually settled down, but it was still something we noticed.
It did not however take away from the quality of the food. Overall, it was very nice.
Very difficult night for services
Very good service and loved the food. They had a great restaurant week menu.
One of the best meals I have ever had. Great flavors and perfect portions!
Everything is great at Colt & Gray. The food, the ambience, the service - are all wonderful. We always feel like we're at a very fancy restaurant. It is not inexpensive, but we find it a great value.
They age their own meat and make their own charcuterie. The food is creative without losing touch with reality. The service is both friendly and professional, attentive but not over bearing.
We love going there.
Food was disappointing. Monochromatic and single textures. We dined on a Sunday during restaurant week- a night they are typically closed and it showed. Even the steak was meh. It was quite a let down.
This was my third time to Colt & Gray and I brought someone who had never been. He truly loved it! All was delicious and presentation delightful. The only problem was ordering a second glass of wine with dinner. We both had a cocktail before dinner and order a glass of wine with dinner. We asked for a second glass halfway through dinner and it took so long to get it, by the time we finished dinner-there was no wine. Finally, with dessert order, we were able to get that second glass.
I like the atmosphere and I think it is ideal for dates or even family special occasions.
Amazing! It was a great dinner amazing food!
Wonderful atmosphere! It was restaurant week, so the menu was divided up. We enjoyed our Green Curry Mussels, Bone Marrow, Fried Quail, Short Ribs, Caramelized Banana Split & Lavender Panna Cotta! Will be going back when we visit again!!
Food was good. Interesting . Waitress was great. Was there for Restaurant Week and thought the portions were a little skimpy except for the $75 menu
This was my first time dining at Colt and Gray and it was fabulous! It has been on my list for two years to get to know and it is worth it. I live in Littleton and it is well worth the drive to Denver. Jeff was our server, and it was his second day, he was great! He was already knowledgeable of the menu and had tasted it himself, so he was able to help with recommendation when I was torn between items. He was very nice, polite, patient and very attentive.
The atmosphere and layout was very cozy. We sat by the fire in the dining room and were extremely comfortable.
The food was delicious! I did notice the sauce on the Chicken Fried Quail was broken, I am assuming from sitting under heat lamp while waiting on other plates to finish, but it was still wonderful. Everything had depths in seasoning without over seasoning, was moist, and cooked very well. The bartenders were amazing at creating custom drinks or creating a classic beverage
I am very pleased with my visit and will definitely be back. Thank you for making such a great place open to the public and elevating the restaurant scene in Denver!
Disappointed with the service. The food was average and overpriced.
Great dinner! Went with a group of 8 and was at a small table which was perfect for conversing with everyone. They were a little late to seat us and comped us a bottle of champagne while we were waiting. Overall, great service and food.
Server was awful, literally one of the more inattentive server I have had in a long...especially for a Saturday night at a high priced restaurant.
We ordered 3 appetizers and wanted to order an expensive main entree to split. Server would not return to order more drinks and entree so we cancelled after the apps and left. Spent $134 on apps and a couple drinks and server wouldn't give us the time of day as maybe he thought he wouldn't make much money off us.
Server was a white male, red hair and red bushy beard. Lame-o.
I would say to spend your money elsewhere as this place made me look bad as my choice of a place to visit.
2nd time I’ve been there. It’s so cozy and romantic and the Pave Steak and their potatoes are my favorite. Ooh and the bread pudding....out of this world Seriously salivating just thinking about it. Can’t wait to go back again
The space is great, the food inventive and tasty, the wine list eclectic and good value throughout the price points, and the bar tenders know their stuff!
We had a fantastic Valentine’s date at Colt & Gray! The food was prepared and presented nicely. We ordered the steak to share and had two sides; ratatouille and potatoes. Everything was seriously fantastic. The drinks were also good; well made. The dessert, potted cheesecake, was more like pudding but was still tasty. Overall it was a great way to spend Valentine’s. We will definitely be returning.
