Great food! Service was good! Very attentive and accommodating.
I would not eat there again. It is mostly overpriced for what you get.
Quite the wait but staff is very nice and food was definitely worth the wait.
Seven years ago, when I lived in San Francisco, Colibri was my go-to spot. They have the best guacamole, mole poblano, and can make a mean margarita. Best of all, they're consistently good. To this day, every time I visit San Francisco, Colibri is a must visit for me and it's always just as good as the last time.
Great food and a great bartender. Be sure to check out the "HAPPY HOUR"!
I would not consider this Mexican food. Medium food and the service left much to be desired.
We had an enjoyable evening here. Food was good. I had the chille Relleno and would recommend it, and the grilled romaine lettuce, which was crisp and very fresh tasting.
It's right across the street from the Curran theater and so very convenient. I would go there again.
We had a great team dinner at this restaurant!
The guacamole was perhaps the best I've ever had in a restaurant, just perfect with the warm in-house tortillas. The price was not cheap for the guac, but it was worth it. The chicken mole was generous and authentic. A good choice for pre-theater dining.
The food is amazing. I got the chilaquiles with red sauce and it was, by far, the best chilaquiles I have ever had. The tortillas are freshly made in house. Nayely was our sever and did a fantastic job serving my group bottomless mimosas - we never found the bottom.
We enjoyed a pre-show dinner. Drinks were delicious, food was great, and the service was quick and attentive. We ordered too much food, and never received one appetizer we ordered, but turned out fine as we had gone overboard a bit. We have dined at Colibri several times and have been consistently happy.
The food was just OK, but it's a good place if you're looking for a last minute reservation for a group dinner.
A bit cold in the back.
Los Churros están huérfanos !!! O sea no tienen madre. Deliciosos ! El mejor cebiche en San Francisco.
Been disappointed here over the last few months. Used to be our favorite spot for Sunday brunch. Took forever to get a waitress on Sunday and even longer after to get drinks. Sat right next to someone who was very, very loud although taking only to someone opposite. They must have changed chefs as the food is not nearly as good as it used to be (same dishes). We need to find a new place we can look forward to going to again as the last 3 or 4 times have been a very big Meh!
I was pleasantly surprised how good this place was. We liked it so much, we went back two days later. The handmade tortillas were amazing!! The sauces that came along with it was so delicious too! All the dishes we ordered, I really enjoyed. The drink also and the service. I would come back!
The Mexican food at Colibri was excellent - the best chicken mole poblano I have had outside of Puebla itself! When we arrived it was very quiet and rather noisy over the noon hour, but got quieter after a time. A good location near Union Square with excellent, fairly upscale Mexican food!
I love this place .. return to it every time i am in san francisco
We enjoyed our dinner here before ACT theater. We had the chicken mole. Service was efficient. Old Mexican comedy with a young Cantinflas shown being shown was fun - we were trying to figure out what was going on like watching a silent film, with one of us watching it backwards in the mirror.
We have had appetizers and drinks here before on 2 occasions and been satisfied. The food is ok - portions small, but fine for snacking. This time I ordered a lunch, which turned out to be 3 tacos, each about 3-4" in diameter, with a spoonful of asst'd meat/fish and some salsa on it. I think it cost about 13-16 $. We had to ask for chips and salsa. Service was dreadful - they were grossly understaffed.
This was fabulous Mexican cuisine. The atmosphere was darling, wasn't so loud that you couldn't visit and the margaritas were fantastic!! Jus t steps away from Union Square, this little gem is slightly 'off the beaten path', and well worth the exploration. Highly recommend!
Colibri offers very interesting dishes with fresh ingredients. Nice take off of traditional Mexican foods along with more original creations. Everything everyone ordered was delicious. Good variety for seafood, meat, and vegetarian. Homemade corn tortillas and selection of salsa were great. Prices are not cheap but not outrageous either. Will definitely eat here again and recommend it to others.
We took our nieces here for dinner and had a wonderful time. Food was delicious, atmosphere was lovely and service was excellent. I loved that they serve some of the lesser known Mexican delicacies like panuchos.
What a great mexican kitchen. Really good menu and very nice service. If you like Mexican you will love this place.
A creative take on traditional (and non-tradition) Mexican entrees.
Kind of disappointing after seeing the pictures and reviews online. It wasn't at all authentic food, which would be fine, but it wasn't interesting in any other way either. Overall nice place and good presentation, but not much flavor or wow factor. Would not recommend.
Best ever homemade tortillas, guac and pazole!!!!
Love the food but it’s pretty loud, hard to hear person right across the table...
Great food! The place is cool place!
I recommend it to anyone...
I used to be a huge fan of Colibri and have been multiple times over the years. Unfortunately, the past two visits have left me not wanting to return. The service has really gone down hill and it’s unfortunate because the food, while expensive, is really quite tasty. To make matters worse, today when I had lunch there a mouse scurried by in the restaurant. That alone wouldn’t make me stop going to a restaurant, as I know things happen, but the lack of concern or acknowledgement from management when it was brought up, sealed the deal. I don’t believe I will be back.
This is a gem in San Francisco! From start to finish the meal and the service was fantastic. Highly recommended!
Lo mejor de San Francisco. El mejor servicio y el sazón excelente de sus chefs.
We love Colibri. We eat there every time we visit San Francisco. The tortillas are exquisite, I'd love the recipe. The ceviche was wonderful. Looking froward to returning soon.
Food was good, service was OK. Margaritas were very good (we tried several different). I had the petit filet mignon, which was a quality hot steak on top of cold mashed potatoes (how does that happen?). Not your traditional Mexican fare. More like good American dishes with a Mexican flair. The ambiance is better in the back room than in the bar.
The Pozole was great, though I was hoping they would use pork rather than chicken. The freshly made tortillas were a nice surprise.
Waiter seem he didn’t care. One of person dining with had lipstick on glass didn’t even apologized and we also said the dish we order wasn’t very satisfying.
Really really good... very tasty, great menu, genuine sopas, great guacamole. Really enjoyed it!
Manager was very rude!
This restaurant is amazing. The menu is original and the food and service are exceptional. Our server, Joseth was friendly and attentive. The manager, Ruth was very polite and helpful. She was attentive to us as well as everyone sitting around us. I recommend Colibri with 5+ Stars!
And yet another YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE post. Last night the birthday girl chose Mexican for dinner and research led us to Colibri Mexican Bistro on Geary Street in San Francisco. Delicious, unique Mexican fare, fabulous service and the presentation of each course was OUTSTANDING.
First time, and I will definitely go back. The service was very attentive, and the food very good. A bit noisy, but that seems to be the trend these days.
