So happy to see Collette open again!! Excellent food and service. Othing beats a delicious hot bowl of onion soup on a cold Cambridge evening!
Excellent food, service and ambience! Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the wine list, and gave stellar recommendations. Would definitely recommend, I know I’ll be returning sometime soon.
Sorry to say, but it was not great. We waited over an hour for our food. They brought the entree before the starter.
Then it took a long time to get the entree. People around came after us and they had finished eating while we still waited.
I also got a call before leaving the house informing us that the kitchen would be closing at 7:30. Our reservation was for 7. It felt weird to get a call like that. Food was ok but not great. Furthermore there didn’t seem a manager checking on how things were going. I only saw the wait staff running around. I understand that there is a shortage of workers, and a new system but hopefully you can reflect on what went wrong and make it better for next time. Thank you!
Apetizer was the squash, so good! It had pepitas, which made it so different...Food was good we had the pork shank...big and fall off the bone..., dessert was awesome!!! I got the nutella chocolate wonderful mousse! Wine list is good also. Only thing was that service was slow, maybe they should have hired a couple more servers. They were super nice, friendly and helpful but they needed more help. In all, a good 1st experience having Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant.
lovely, food was wonderful, service impeccable, ambiance and music perfect. bread, dessert, drinks great. only issue alot of shell fragments in oysters. otherwise awesome!! thank u!
We simply love Colette and Frenchie both run by the same people. The people working there are fantastic and super friendly. It has become our favorite brunch place and we only wish we lived closer to Boston. Cocktails are amazing and we love the oysters, steak tartare and steak fries. Chocolate mousse is the best but order early... it is that 👍
Phenomenal service and excellent food. We had dinner at Collette's Thanksgiving Eve with a family group of eight. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Among us we ordered every entree but one and all were excellent. Our waiter had a wonderful sense of humor, was attentive but didn't hover and was especially helpful with wine and entree choices.
Fantastic night started with the prosciutto and oysters, followed by the tartare. We finished with the steak fries and macaroons. The cocktails were fantastic and the bar tenders are great at their trade and male you feel like you never want to leave (which I never do). This restaurant is run and own by the same people who have Frenchie in Boston out other favorite place.Filippie is such a wonderful person. A bientot!
The drinks were incredible and the vibes were perfect for a Friday date night. That being said, I was slightly let down by the food. Everything we ordered was begging for just a little more salt. Also, my duck breast was not properly rendered so instead of the crispy skin one would expect from a duck breast (especially at a French restaurant) it was basically halfway done as if they pulled it from the pan 5-10 minutes too early so the fat was still mostly rubbery.
We really enjoyed the food, drinks, service and atmosphere. We love Colette, actually, and we're so happy to have it in our neighborhood. I have one complaint though. Each time the bartender, who makes very good cocktails, discarded an empty bottle, he tossed it into a trash bin with a very loud crash! A way too loud crash. I found it disturbing and distracting. Even unnerving. Unnecessarily so, in my opinion. It shouldn't be too hard for a person making drinks to put the empty bottles in the bin in a more thoughtful and gentle manner. Being aware of the patrons' needs for tranquility, even in a noisy bistro, happy with excitement, should be part of the profession.
I love this restaurant! I stayed in the hotel for 2 weeks and ate at Collette 3 times. The food is fantastic, the service is friendly and the place is gorgeous. Highly recommend.
Everything was great at Colette except for the noise level. I could barely hear the other two people at my table!
This is as close to a full service French meal you will get in Cambridge. The roast pork joint was outstanding and the fries are the real thing.
Great ambiance. Solid wine list, food was good balance of quality and quantity
We dine out often, but went to Colette last night to celebrate our birthdays. Very disappointed with the service. Needed to ask for water, did not clean table between courses and had to wait quite awhile for check and noticed our server chatting with another service person for a long time.
Duck was amazing. Pork shank was little bland.
We had stated in the reservation that we were celebrating birthdays…not a mention of the special occasion. Tried to seat us at the bar when I specifically asked for regular seating when making the reservation.
My second visit within a month and both times the service was disappointing!
I do like this restaurant a lot.
The staff are really nice and the food is great, often bountiful, such as the 1/2 chicken entree.
But it's pricey sometimes for not very much such food as in the case of the homemade tagliatelle, squash and pumpkin cream entree. It's more of a special occasion place for me than a week night out if it's 60 a person for a drink, shared side and entree
This place transport you to another era and locale. Love you Colette!
The duck con fit was delicious !! Absolutely loved the ambiance!!
Fantastic French food. Lovely outside space. Manager was super accommodating. Great waiter. A vey special evening. Beef tartar and oysters were excellent.
The maitre d' was very accomodating for our seating and the wait staff were all attentive. The food was hot, plentiful and arrived promptly even though we were in the patio. The waiter was very assiduous in keeping the heat tower lit even though it did not cooperate.
Only unforeseen issue was fire alarm went off during dessert so we were a bit rushed after we had to wait outside for 10 minutes before firemen cleared building. Otherwise excellent food and good drinks
This place is a must if you are looking to catch up with your friends. Even though the food might not be the best, the drinks, service and place itself, make up for it. Recommend this place 100% if you are looking to catch up with your gals🥂👯♀️
Colette was a great find, and especially convenient because we were staying at the Porter Square Hotel. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional.
Great place! Our server, gia, was amazing. Had a great birthday dinner!
Absolutely wonderful patio and great wine selection
Frankly, we were disappointed with our experience at Colette. There were a number of issues, which I will enumerate below:
1. Ambience: the restaurant was crowded, very loud, and uncomfortably warm. We had difficulty hearing ourselves speak, even though the table we sat at was very small, and the room was quite warm, so much so that I, in a short-sleeve shirt, was profusely sweating throughout the meal. The windows in the restaurant were all closed, and the A/C system seemed not able to adequately cool the room. I requested at one point, to our server if something could be done to cool the room, but although they said that they had turned up the system, there was not a very noticeable difference.
2. Food: it was disappointing. We first ordered wine, and were surprised when two already poured glasses were brought to our table, with no opportunity to sample the wine before they poured it. We ordered French Onion Soup and Mussels as appetizers, but the soup was thin and lacked flavor. The Mussels lacked seasoning (such as garlic) and were not appealing. We ate just a few before giving up on them and most of the soup. The Entrees (Tagliatelle and Monkfish) had problems as well. The Tagliatelle was too sweet. The Monkfish was better, but was a bit over-cooked. We chose not have dessert.
What made the dinner at Colette especially disappointing was that we had read many favorable reviews about it, some of them even describing the dining there as ‘exceptional.’ We would characterize it as ‘exceptionally bad.’ That was our experience, at least.
A friend, who lives nearby, and has dined all over the world, recommended Colette highly. Had a corner table on Mass Ave, but it was very gusty and getting colder. The hostess was happy to seat us inside, next to the bar. Split six oysters with my partner, who also had French onion soup, while I got a shrimp cocktail with 3 large ones. My glass of Sancerre off the list was just right. She had monkfish entree, I got steak fries, a large helping and perfectly cooked meat, and a glass of Medoc. Creme brulee for her, a glass of Armagnac for me and a cappuccino. Everything was delicious, perfectly cooked, with professional service. A busy, happy place, good vibe, people watching.
The confit de canard vol au vent appetizer was excellent. So was our waiter, Lounis.
We had a great time food and ambiance were great.woukd def recommend
We all had the chicken entree, which was excellent. Two of us had the Sancerre, delicious, and one of us had an Aperol Spritz, which was made correctly. The only real downside was slow service, but this is perfectly understandable given covid. Overall, this was a very good dining experience.
Nice small french restaurant. Food was fine, but soup and wine a little over-priced. Kitchen turned the steak tatare app into a main dish which we appreciated. Waitstaff was apparently a little overworked with the outdoor tables. Took a while to place our order and an attempt was made to serve us someone else's food. Overall I would return.
The staff was very attentive and the food was excellent. The back patio was a lovely surprise as well
The food here was terrific, very rich and flavorful. We started with the mushroom and duck confit vol au vent - a perfect mix of tender and crunchy - and then had the pork shank and duck a l'orange. The pork shank was a hefty amount of meat and both dishes were done right. Our waitperson was fantastic and recommended great cocktails and a wine pairing. We finished with the creme brulee, chocolate mousse, and macarons, all fine exemplars of their type. The pink velvet banquettes, crystal chandeliers, and oversize floral wallpaper made for fancy selfies. This was a but pricier than our usual weeknight dinner out, but it was definitely worth it.
Amazing dining experience! Food was excellent and ambiance was exceptional.
The food was 50/50. Our appetizer was great; the main was overpriced, uninspired, and bland.
We really enjoy Colette this is like Frenchie in Boston buy with a full bar and bigger more sit down restaurant. Like Frenchie the food is great we love the tartar, duck and everyone has to try the croissant pudding! The people and service are the best super friendly and they always remember you!
Birthday dinner with friends. Great time!
The food was incredibly bland and overpriced. We ordered the monkfish and tagliatelle. Each meal was almost $30 and not at all worth it considering the portion size and general lack of flavor.
Colette is a great addition to the neighborhood. Abundance of outdoor seating, crafty cocktails and always a very friendly staff.
My hope, as we struggle to rid ourselves of this pandemic, is that the restaurant expands its menu beyond the tired fair we are all witnessing in every restaurant...standard oven roast chicken, the one pasta dish (typically a bolognese), a couple fish dishes and the venerable steak frites! My worries are that foodies will bypass Colette if menu remains boring?
A lovely evening at Colette to celebrate a special occassion! Mild oct evening and the patio was lovely, attentive service, delicious food, and enjoyed seeing a family with children enjoying their meal too! thank you!
