Colette blends the best of French culture to bring a dynamic dining experience to Porter Square. We strive to leave a lasting impression with our dramatic surroundings, smart wine list, warm and hospitable service, hand-crafted cocktails, and of course, a French inspired menu. Brunch, dinner, or cocktails - welcome to your new home!
We offer a range of small plates, hot and cold, which remix French classics - Mussels, Steak Frites, Salads, along with Cheese and Charcuterie boards and French desserts: Mousse au Chocolat, Crème Brûlée... Everything is made in house with love, we start from scratch everyday.
The star of our drink menu is definitely the wine, But we also serve beers, ciders and cocktails crafted by our mixologists.

The waitstaff were great especially our primary server, Gia.
Excellent place for great food and service! Delightful servers and staff with wonderful food. Highly recommend it!
Fantastic patio. Great cocktails!
The steak frites was disappointing compared to two years ago, which was the reason my wife and I returned. The steak was an inferior cut of meat and overly salted, as were the fries. The wait staff was uninspired. The price/value coefficient poor and will not merit another visit.
I always enjoy coming to Colettes. It’s a great atmosphere everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. Got a chance to hang out with
friends I hadn’t seen in a long time and just enjoy some good food and company. They have a decent wine list and creative cocktails. We said inside because it was a rainy evening but no matter where you are at Colettes inside, on the patio or sitting at the bar it’s always pleasurable.
Cassie was such a great waitress, very attentive. The atmosphere was aesthetically pleasing and the drinks were strong!
Everything was great but the prices were a little high. The steak tartare was flavorless.
The patio behind the restaurant (and away from traffic) is a wonderful outdoor setting. The appetizer "canard en croûte" is awesome and very generous, and the moules appetizer equally delicious. Other dishes such as the boneless chicken and the mushroom tagliatelle earned high praise. One person complained that the spiced tuna was too strong, the flavor too much like a salad dressing. All in all, a great place to unwind; ideal for friends and conversation.
Beautiful place to dine. The back patio is one of the nicest places in Cambridge and the drinks are excellent.
Given that this is a French-style bistro, it was astounding that the french fries we ordered to accompany our martinis were so long-out-of-fryer, nearly cold and limp.
Very nice evening, great patio and very friendly and professional staff.
Overall a wonderful evening.
Superb service by Cassie. Also Velma was very good. Will return again. It was lovely to meet Filipi. The food was well prepared and delicious! Lovely interior design and outdoor seating.
Charcuterie board excellent; needed more toast. Everything we had was delicious. Rose recommended was perfect. Loved the ambiance indoors; outdoor seating even better.
We sat outside in the garden and had the most incredible dinner!
Excellent find! Limited menu, but all terrific. The French onion soup and chicken are to die for. Great, fun vibe as well.
My boyfriend and I went here on a date night and we had Matthew as our server. He gave great recommendations, and the overall service and ambiance was fabulous.
We enjoyed a delicious meal with an attentive but not intrusive waiter.
Already, we are planning a return, as the menu offers many tempting choices. Highly recommended for quality of food and service and lovely ambience.
Everything was excellent and our waiter, Matthew, was outstanding!
Service was great. Drinks, wine also grear as was our shrimp cocktail- something one would imagine is not a big deal to mention but the shrimp were huge, absolutely clean, cold and perfect in every way. We had a great pasta dish. Our steak frites was okay but we’ve had better. The ambience in their outdoor dining garden was beautiful with great spacing between tables and nice strung lighting. Also happily no blasting music! The lack of music was so refreshing ! We were visiting from NY And enjoyed ourselves so much that we have already recommended Colette to friends who live locally. Thank you for a lovely evening out. My husband and I will return whenever we are next in Boston/Cambridge.
Nice local spot with excellent French onion soup
The food was delicious and the staff was attentive. Would definitely return!
We had dinner in the back on a beautiful night - great atmosphere. Our server seemed to be pushing us quickly to order before we were ready. When the food came, it was not timed well and some of the food was seriously overcooked. We lingered over drinks and the staff seemed anxious to get us out - hovered over us. But when we asked for our check, they weren't too quick with it! Beautiful setting but otherwise not a great dining experience. We heard they had staffing issues - maybe will try again and hope for a better time.
Overall good experience but it was a little concerning that waiters were masked but many of them were not covering their noses and mouths. Mouths only which we all know defeats the point. Nonetheless a lovely evening.
The food and service were fantastic. But with all of the windows and doors open for the outdoor patio, there was no air conditioning or air exchange indoors. It was 100 degrees inside at our table. So definitely sit outside!
Ambience is very cool. Food was pretty good. Service was pretty good.
One server came up to us awkwardly asking if “we wanted anything” to which we realized we hadn’t looked at the menu yet bc it was QR and we’d just been chatting.
From then on we were ignored by multiple staff who chose instead to sit down at the bar and chat with their bartender. We left after waiting about 10 minutes for someone to take our order (after we’d clearly put down our phones from looking at QR menu).
I have worked many years in this industry and there’s simply too much competition in a city like this to put up with bad service.
The meals were terrific. We ordered the duck and stripped bass and each had tremendous flavors and presentation.
Overall it was ok , food was good , service was very slow .
Food and service were excellent!!
Colette was a favorite neighborhood place before the pandemic hit. This was our first visit after having been vaccinated. We met friends and dined on Colette's back patio (quieter than in the front, which overlooks on Mass Ave.) We enjoyed the duck and steak entrees, along with a couple of sides--brussels sprouts and frites, but were too full for dessert. Service was a bit slow, likely because of the staff shortages plaguing many local establishments, but both friendly and attentive. We'll be back!
Solid food and great environment.
generally I love everything about Colette. This last dining experience was subpar due the the lack of attention from our waitress. She was far from friendly (even with encouragement) and took ages to attend to us.
The big stuff (ambience of the patio, food quality and preparation) is great. Small stuff could be improved. Delicious bread but skimpy on the butter. We asked for more--never got it. Iced tea arrived, but no sweetener. Why should we have to ask: waiter should bring some or ask when he takes the order if sweetener will be needed. Bottom llne: we'll continue dining there.
Food and drinks were delicious! Dessert was omg. Waitress was super nice. So happy to have such a great local option for an excellent meal
The restaurant was charming. The front entrance patio look like you were walking past a restaurant in Paris. When you entered you were immediately taken into a relaxing dining experience. We sat in the back patio under beautiful striped umbrellas and were mediately greeted by an incredible staff. You could tell that this was a place that had patrons visit frequently. Adults sharing a bottle of wine and friends talking over a cocktail. Honestly this was an incredible experience
Collette is a near miss. It is uncomfortably loud( a function of the construction materials as much as of the clientele) unnecessarily dark, and having to access the menu on one's cell phone is a gesture to being "cutting edge" that should be abandoned in favor of an actual paper menu of ten point type size or larger. (The paper menu was shamefully produced--"its not very pretty"--and it's type size so small as to make it unreadable) The wait staff were attentive but seemed new to their task , still learning. The food is good enough.
The food was exquisite. Wonderful ambiance on back patio with plants, flowers, umbrellas, and twinkling white lights. Felt like we were in French countryside. Will definitely be back!
Excellent food, creative, tasty, fresh, well concepted. Ambience of the outdoor terrace was superb - beautiful landscaping and bordering a quiet side street. For once we could talk with ease and actually not need to shout at one another. Service was helpful, on point, and friendly. A real winner.
Very good upscale cousine. A bit pricey, but that how it goes these days. Wine list needs a few more reasonably-priced items (nearly all wines sold at this point are more than $50 a bottle).
Colette's has a wonderful atmosphere and tasty food. They also offer outdoor tables in front and in back, which are perfect for summer weather and easing back into dining.
