Colette blends the best of French culture to bring a dynamic dining experience to Porter Square. We strive to leave a lasting impression with our dramatic surroundings, smart wine list, warm and hospitable service, hand-crafted cocktails, and of course, a French inspired menu. Brunch, dinner, or cocktails - welcome to your new home!
We offer a range of small plates, hot and cold, which remix French classics - Mussels, Steak Frites, Salads, along with Cheese and Charcuterie boards and French desserts: Mousse au Chocolat, Crème Brûlée... Everything is made in house with love, we start from scratch everyday.
The star of our drink menu is definitely the wine, But we also serve beers, ciders and cocktails crafted by our mixologists.

generally I love everything about Colette. This last dining experience was subpar due the the lack of attention from our waitress. She was far from friendly (even with encouragement) and took ages to attend to us.
Food and drinks were delicious! Dessert was omg. Waitress was super nice. So happy to have such a great local option for an excellent meal
The restaurant was charming. The front entrance patio look like you were walking past a restaurant in Paris. When you entered you were immediately taken into a relaxing dining experience. We sat in the back patio under beautiful striped umbrellas and were mediately greeted by an incredible staff. You could tell that this was a place that had patrons visit frequently. Adults sharing a bottle of wine and friends talking over a cocktail. Honestly this was an incredible experience
Collette is a near miss. It is uncomfortably loud( a function of the construction materials as much as of the clientele) unnecessarily dark, and having to access the menu on one's cell phone is a gesture to being "cutting edge" that should be abandoned in favor of an actual paper menu of ten point type size or larger. (The paper menu was shamefully produced--"its not very pretty"--and it's type size so small as to make it unreadable) The wait staff were attentive but seemed new to their task , still learning. The food is good enough.
The food was exquisite. Wonderful ambiance on back patio with plants, flowers, umbrellas, and twinkling white lights. Felt like we were in French countryside. Will definitely be back!
Excellent food, creative, tasty, fresh, well concepted. Ambience of the outdoor terrace was superb - beautiful landscaping and bordering a quiet side street. For once we could talk with ease and actually not need to shout at one another. Service was helpful, on point, and friendly. A real winner.
Very good upscale cousine. A bit pricey, but that how it goes these days. Wine list needs a few more reasonably-priced items (nearly all wines sold at this point are more than $50 a bottle).
Colette's has a wonderful atmosphere and tasty food. They also offer outdoor tables in front and in back, which are perfect for summer weather and easing back into dining.
The food was good and service was prompt enough
(2 courses + coffee = 80 minutes) but a little impersonal.
There were a lot of people there, and we had a table near the bar
so the noise level was quite high. Ambience OK but nothing special.
But I though there was value for money here. The food was as good as
other Cambridge high-end places and substantially cheaper.
Lovely evening outside. Food and service are great. The tuna crudo appetizer is a must!
A total disappointment. To start with the place was very poorly designed with totally uncomfortable seating arrangements. The tables were so small and they were probably designed for just drinks. Chairs were very uncomfortable. Very poor noise control, loud music playing in the background. The appetizer “duck confit mushroom” was nothing like the description, just ordinary mushrooms and it was very hard to find the duck confit, more like a mush. The food, tough steak frites and boring tuna, was just ordinary and over priced. The desert was terrible, white chocolate bread pudding. Tasted like it was sitting around from before the pandemic. They even forgot the white chocolate, too. Also, I miss a real paper menu. One had to use ones phone to order. What do they think they are in a train station, or fast food location. Typical Cambridge waitress who doesn’t seem like she enjoyed her job. All in all I would give the dinner experience an overall average rating (and that’s being really nice). Do people only go there to drink? After all they call themselves a wine bar. They should forget about the food and just serve drinks. Or maybe some peanuts!
No problems receiving our bar reservation . Staff was efficient, food came out amazingly fast. Our only quibble, hence the 4 stars was that they ran out of the wine we wanted to try with dinner. The bartender allowed us to try 3 other wines by the glass but we didn’t really care for any of them . We will try again some other time as we realize this can happen. All in all would recommend.
The food and drinks were delicious. Wines by the glass excellent. Food was prepared beautifully. The wait staff and hostess were very friendly and polite.
Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area.
Will be back!!
The patio seating out back was just lovely. Nice surroundings, the food was great and the service was excellent!
Delicious dining on a beautiful, outdoor patio. A great summer treat.
Food excellent as always. Homemade past superb. Service not up to its usual standards but everyone has an off night now and then
Fantastic experience …. Great food, excellent t service. Love the back patio!
Our waiter was an amazing French man who made us feel like we were dining on a patio in France. Excellent service! :chefs-kiss:
A summer evening dinner with a friend at Colette was a wonderful way to celebrate the freedom to eat out together after a long 15 months of COVID. The host who greeted us was welcoming and efficiently worked her way through three couples ahead of us before showing us to our table in the back patio. We started with appetizers--French onion soup and the duck confit with mushrooms, both delicious and generous portions--they ordered entrees we knew would provide us with delicious leftovers--the tagliatelle and the crispy half chicken with mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. There were several other items on the menu that beckoned but we had no regrets about our choices. The service was also quite good. We'll be back!
A lovely outdoor setting, great food and excellent service.
The patio in back is a delightful setting. Wait staff were sweet and accommodating.
I had a similar experience to some of the other reviewers. The apps came out before the drinks and then took forever for our entrees to come (about 45 minutes). I thought the food was only okay. The other disappointing thing was that the pictures show a beautiful patio outback and they put us in the front which was far less pretty and loud from the traffic on the street. Overall pretty disappointing experience. I would not come back to this restaurant.
We enjoyed the tuna crude, duck confit and brussel sprouts as starters. The sprouts were amazing. The chicken was by far the best entree we ordered but the pasta dish was also very good. We sat indoors, but the outdoor seating looks very comfortable as well. The wait staff was excellent. Very enjoyable.
We went to Colette for a celebratory dinner (there were four of us). We sat on the gorgeous patio under a large umbrella, which came in handy when it started raining; it kept us dry and comfortable. Everything was delicious and the staff were all lovely and professional (and masked, which was good and also made me feel weird about not being masked, but that's my own stuff and they are doing a great job). Can't wait to go back!
So happy to be out. Great atmosphere! Food was delish (except some mussels were undercooked) and wine was amazing!! A lovely lovely evening!!
An excellent experience overall! Indoor seating area was very warm, it seemed like AC was turned on halfway through the meal. Delicious food and wonderful service.
excellent in every way
What an amazing night out. Wine and food...AWESOME
Second time here - everything is lovely. Excellent fabric and texture filled atmosphere and lighting, no blaring music, attentive servers, exquisite food. Ordered a fantastic bottle of rose and after dinner cappuccinos - will always go back!
We ate outdoors, which was lovely, and a lot easier to hear than indoors. The food has improved, in my opinion. I used to find it a bit rich, but now it is lighter and delicious! Service was outstanding. A great choice for a nice dinner out!
Food spectacular and not overpriced .
The wait staff always very accommodating . The hostess could have dressed better than jeans and sneakers; since the hostess is your first impression. She had no style or flair for a French bistro.
Colette’s is a charming bistro with great atmosphere, attentive service staff, and yummy food. We chose it for our first restaurant meal since the pandemic and are glad we did.
Great ambience and friendly staff members! Both food and drinks were on point.
They just reopened and it was a lovely meal!
Food was delicious and service superb!
Very good food, fresh, flavorful, responsible portions, and superb staff
One of my favorite places. So glad they’re open again.
Way too loud. Had to practically yell to be heard. Hard floor, hard walls, glass - nothing to absorb some of the sound. Really liked the food and service and will not return for indoor dining.
Sitting on the back terrace for an excellent meal after my son's graduation. Weather was perfect, food was well prepared, and the service was excellent (which from former restaurant professionals is a rare complement).
