We offer a range of small plates, hot and cold, which remix French classics - Steak Tartare, Mussels, Steak Frites, Salads, along with Cheese and Charcuterie boards and French desserts: Mousse au Chocolat, Crème Brûlée, Beignets... Everything is made in house with love, we start from scratch everyday.
The star of our drink menu is definitely the wine, more than 30 references by the glass! But we also serve beers, ciders and cocktails crafted by our mixologists.
We are located in the Porter Square Hotel in Cambridge.
Our overall experience was nice. The bread was a great start. The banquet was what you would get if you are in Paris. We order a bunch of starters, onion soup, charcuterie board, scallops, cauliflower, escargot. They were all delicious. The cocktails were decent, could be a little stronger. The main entrees were steak frites, salmon and pork tenderloin. They were all well prepared, although we found the pork a bit salty. The waiter was great! We would go back again.
Very nice French restaurant, with a good wine list, good food, and excellent service. Some of the smaller plates were particularly good, such as the cannelloni coq au vin. Noise level probably ranges from quiet to moderate, depending on where you are located in the restaurant. Very nice bar area, also. A little bit of a step up, but worth it.
Best Steak fritte in town, and wonderful deserts, we repeated the creme brulle and chocolate mouse
A true French restaurant. The food is outstanding- steak tartare is the best I have ever had. So glad they opened up in our neighborhood.
All of the food we had was fantastic!
A friend and I had brunch at the bar. The bartender was very nice and knowledgeable about wine.
I had a perfect MR burger and red wine, it was all excellent! Can't wait to go back.
It was a great brunch spot on Sunday with no waiting. A great menu and nice decor. It might be built into a hotel but it’s a good stand alone place to go.
First time for brunch. Not crowded, not noisy, service was good and the food came out quickly. We both had duck confit eggs benedict - very tasty. Breakfast potatoes that came with it were good but the onions they were topped with were cooked strangely, we thought - they were boiled, not fried.
As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the host and seated in two large comfortable chairs at a table inside. our location allowed us to enjoy a nice breeze in between the patio and the bar. The decor is eclectic and inviting for an intimate dinner or conversation with a group of friends. Service was great, attentive but not imposing. Our waiter was friendly and quite helpful when we asked for suggestions from the menu. We both had delicious cocktails and ordered the French onion soup appetizer which was well portioned and very tasty. For our main courses we enjoyed steak frites with a savory sauce and the pistachio crusted pork tenderloin. Our meals were nicely seasoned, full of flavor, and the meat was cooked to perfection! There’s nothing else like Colette in Porter Square and we will definitely go back!
Nice place. Really. Will definitely go again
After being here three times, I can say the food is very tasty, extremely well prepared. Just the best.
But the service and general management is chaotic, it's not there yet.
Knowing that the food is great, you don't mind waiting, The noise level is also way too high for me.
On a less busy night it's fine.
I'm not as anxious to go back soon, but the dishes are mouth watering, so that, and my wife will draw me back there.
Colette is cute and the perfect spot for brunch. Yummy food and delicious cocktails in this picturesque venue.
Food is marvelous, service is good. However, it was too noisy.
It’s such a great spot. Great prices for the meal. We loved the ceviche and the bread was so so good, not out of the bag.
Absolutely amazing! I’m a native of Cambridge and was so so happy to see a such a beautiful restaurant in North Cambridge. I have already been recommending it to my family and friends . Food ... fantastic!! Service excellent
Excellent cuisine, service, ambience. Would definitely go again for special occasion and for just a nice night out.
Always want to say thanks to our waiter Alexander and of course Maximo, who came by to say hi even if he wasn't our server
Very nice for when you want something a little classier. Food was great service excellent.
Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and stellar service. Had the music been a little quieter, it would have been an absolutely perfect experience.
A great new addition to the dining scene around Porter Square, Cambridge. My wife and I very much enjoyed our dinner at Colette.
Great food, gorgeous design, best steak frite we've had in Cambridge recently
Excellent overall experience except For the noise level!
Awesome restaurant l! Great for date night or girls night out
Dinner started well with bread and butter, but everything went downhill from there. The mushroom pastry was bland, the salmon waz dry and overly salty, the sides uninteresting. We asked for medium steak and got super overcooked and dry meat. The dessert arrived very slowly and was completely cold by the time it reached our table. Wasted another 20 minutes waiting for the check
Never coming back to this overpriced place.
We have been (impatiently) awaiting the addition of Collette in our neck of Cambridge, and we're glad it's finally arrived.
We had an array of starters as shared small plates, along with dessert. The menu had an enjoyable mix of classic french bistro fare and twists on the classics (for ex., tarte tatin with banana instead of apple). The food was good, although not exceptional. Service was very good - friendly and very attentive, but not intrusive.
We had been regulars at the table of Bistro Duet in Arlington, with the Chef Cyrile, and loved going there as a family on weekends. It had a delicate flavor of France in every bite. We were sad to see Arlington lose such a wonderful table!
Tonight, we were delighted to taste Cyrile signature a bite at a time. The food is delicious and it’s amazing how you feel transported somewhere in a timeless yet contemporary France restaurant. The ambiance is nice. The waiters are friendly. Cyrile makes himself available to engage and share with his guests.
We had a great evening and are so happy to make it our new regular table.
Merci Cyrile et toute l’équipe !
What a chic hidden Oasis! The decor is modern trendy meets 1940 old Hollywood glam and it is carried through the menu, tea cups and food!
Staff is very nice
Service a bit slow
Food timing a bit off. Received apps and entrees virtually at the same time
Host and wait staff were attentive. Food and drinks were perfect.
I'll be back!
Our third time there. Loved everything about it!!!
This was my second time to Colette and it did not disappoint. The first time I had small plates including an amazing cannelloni with coq au vin filling and was as yummy as the first time. Lovely glasses of wine served with great variety and an very interesting menu. The ambiance is a French coziness, especially at the bar area. Very attentive staff and some even French speaking! Be aware however, if you do not like a lot of action, the bar area can be a bit noisy. Overall, I recommend Colette !!!
I enjoyed the ambience very much, and the service was phenomenal. I also delighted to find the (excellent) Sancerre option for our wine! As to food, I ordered the steak frites (my go to for French bistro places), and while I give enthusiastic snaps to the crispy-licious frites and the peppery sauce, the steak itself was a rather tough cut and cooked a bit beyond the medium rare I requested. Still, a good experience overall. I'll try something else for a main course next time.
Great place for delicious and civilized meal. No pressure to rush. Great place for conversation. Nice atmosphere.
such a cool vibe inside! I love that the interior designer was based in Paris, it shows (not that that couldn't happen with a local one, thought it was worth mentioning though!) food was delicious, our server was great and non intrusive. they were even able to push my reservation back an hour last minute and very accommodating, will come back as the patio is so beautiful for a nice day!
The service was horrific
Several tables near us, seated long after us, were eating before us. Plus when the food finally arrived, one meal was delivered five minutes after the others. Clearly the waiter forgot to put our order in. Really disappointed
Best place to go to in town!
Great experience! Beautiful, romantic, cozy interior decor, but not over the top. Food was excellent (especially the pastas), as were the cocktails and service. It was too cold to eat outside, but they had a large patio setup. We came for dinner and as soon as we got through the apps we had already decided that we could not wait to come back for brunch! A lovely destination.
Lovely atmosphere, not too noisy. My only negative comment is that all the food didn't come out at the same time (there were 4 of us).
Well what to say. Looks like the review trolls who left great reviews beat me this time. Service was fine, although the Polynesian shirts and wallpaper maybe evocative of France's colonial past but that's about it. There is no link on the menu to anything slightly South Pacific. This review is all about the poor quality of the food. We ordered a variety of appetizers. Thankfully, based on the quality we saved money by not ordering mains. Lets start, the french onion soup was tepid and thin. It had a strange metallic taste, like it had sitting in a metal pot before being microwaved. All in all a thin, tasteless mess of a dish. Avoid. Next we had the salad with sliced smoked duck breast. 3 thin slices over a small mache salad with thin slices of apple and leathery dehydrated apples. All in all lack luster, no real smokiness, meh and a dud. Fried cauliflower was the same, no texture, could have been great but then you have to either care or know how to cook. We ordered the mushroom tart with puff pastry, again bland, little mushroom flavor, perhaps a bit of fresh herbs before service would have helped. Last, the french fries, first of all they came with some kind of purple, yes I said purple, dipping sauce (the 80's are calling this chef) they were a mixed bag of fries, looked like some were fried longer than others, again lots of poor quality fries mixed in. To all, sorry for this very critical review. I am usually very forgiving with a restaurant and don't expect every dish to be a home rune or even a triple. Rarely have we experienced a shut out like this place. Everything was just mediocre and poorly prepared.
I noted that this restaurant is somehow connected with Petite Robert Bistro. This group is connected to a great restaurant that closed 20 years ago, Maison Robert in Boston. Who ever is trading off the name is not doing the memory of that great restaurant's chef, Lucien Robert, a favor. It is sad.
A very pleasant surprise, fast & curteous service, excellent menu choices, better than other French restaurants I tried. Keep it up!
