Coles 735 Main Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was chilly but the weather was dismal! I was quoted the wrong price for the special. I was quoted $28. but billed $36. Waiter's effort was good. The food was delicious but I might have ordered something else if I had been aware of the correct price of the fish (snapper) special.
Best lamb appetizer I have ever had, perfectly done octopus, perfectly cooked steaks, and delicious cocktails. A MUST in Lexington. The only draw back - the restaurant must work on it's consistency. The food is always good, but not always amazing. That said, my last meal there was the best I've had in town. Great for dates and special occasions.
My husband and I have eaten at Cole's several times and we are never disappointed. At every restaurant we enjoy, we try to pair different tasting foods with all of the options the menu and the staff provide. Cole's allows us to be imaginative. The two of us ordered the Brussel sprouts salad, a side of macaroni and cheese and shared a plate of the delicious scallops. Add some red wine.... and Viola! A fantastic meal for a cold winter night. My husband and I continue to talk about it. When in Lexington, enjoy a meal at Cole's you will always remember it as an event!
Second time here. Went for a Saturday evening dinner but again fairly last minute reservation so no prime time reservations available on short notice but that was no problem as we don’t mind eating early in the evening. Tried some different choices than we ordered on our first visit. Had the eggplant “bruschetta” and the lobster bisque which we shared. My husband ordered the striped bass special and I had the bone in filet mignon special. All choices were superb. My husband particularly enjoyed his craft cocktail made with bourbon, blood orange liqueur and house made orange bitters. The other craft cocktail menu items were very intriguing as was the white wine aperitif that the young lady at the table next to me ordered. So intriguing that my husband (after his cocktail) asked me to drive us to the local liquor store to pick up some of the unusual ingredients for the other cocktails we’d seen on the menu. No problem since frequent replenishing of my beverage choice, Diet Coke, left me in fine shape to drive home. Another superb and satisfying meal made even more enjoyable by some culinary and beverage discoveries. Yesterday marked our 25th anniversary of moving to Lexington and in our opinion this is the best restaurant in Lexington that we’ve encountered in those 25 years.
This was my first time to try Cole’s. I am usually disappointed in “fancier” restaurants because their food always sounds so much better than it actually is. This was not the case with Cole’s. I had the wrapped filet special, and almost licked my plate. I will definitely be going back.
My companion and I both had a filet, because it is always perfectly tender and perfectly cooked. The side of cubed deep-fried grits was delicious, crusty outside and smooth inside.
We each had a classic Manhattan made with rye and finished with a cherry that was prepared in-house.
Service, food, and drinks were all up to the level of perfection I expect at Cole’s.
I took my mom and my aunt and everything was great. I had the duck and it was the best I have ever had, my mom had the salmon and she loved it and my aunt had the herb crusted chicken a she said it was delicious. I would highly recommend Coles on Main.
Everything about the evening was great. The cocktails were excellent and so was the food. The bread brought out while you wait is delicious. The staff is very friendly as well. However, I was disappointed nothing was done for my dates birthday. I made a note when making the reservation and verbally stated the occasion when we arrived. When going to an establishment to spend over 100 dollars for two people, I’d expect something to be done. But all around it’s great restaurant for food, drinks, staff and atmosphere.
We had a great dinner for our anniversary while visiting in Lexington. The homemade rolls are OUTSTANDING and make really good breakfast the next day with leftover filet!! The server was attentive to anticipating our needs without being intrusive at all. We loved our experience here.
Have always enjoyed Cole's. Consistency is their hallmark. A more varied menu, or at least, some changes every now and then would be nice. They had two specials the night we dined, but they had run out of one. I require GF options, and that limits me greatly.
