Coles 735 Main
Set in a tastefully refinished historic landmark in downtown Lexington, Coles 735 Main offers a warm, relaxing atmosphere – ideal for romantic fine dining or spirited get-togethers at the inviting indoor bar and outdoor gazebo.
I have eaten at Coles more than a few times, and the food is consistently good. The kitchen can be slow, and this night the combination of poor wait staff, a very long wait for food, and a loud, slightly inebriated table of patrons next to ours made for an unpleasant evening. Perhaps our waiter was stepping into the role solo for the first time. He began speaking to us before reaching the table so it was not clear which table he was addressing. One of our party never got their soup, two of us asked for a salad prepared without meat and it came with what seemed to be extra bacon. After the salad course was taken away we waited 45 minutes for our entrees. So it will be awhile before we return. And definitely not during Keeneland season!
Coles has been one of my favorites for years, but it wasn't as great the past couple years. However, greatness has returned. Fantastic service and food. The pork chop I had was the best pork chop I have EVER had. The halibut special blew my companion away. Go to Coles... support greatness!
Amazing food, amazing Staff, and love going here . I will continue to go back and continue to recommend
Great meal with family. Dishes were creative and good quality without “trying too hard”, just simply good cuisine with refreshing details or acccoutrements. Service was very friendly, attentive to gluten-free needs. Love the ambiance!
I already wrote a review. This is, without a doubt, the best restaurant in Lexington.
We have vfisited all the "BIG" named ones and spent thousands of dollars experiencing
average food. Coles is the "real" deal. We made two reservations for future dining the
night we ate there. It is terrific. The only problem is parking.
We loved the atmosphere. The wait staff was excellent as was the food! I will definitely recommend this place to all of my friends!
Questionable value for money. Chicken entree reasonable but accompanying vegetables overcooked.
Amaretto Gelato desert was fabulous
Absolutely amazing dinner for both of us.
Can’t wait to return!
As usual Coles was excellent. Friendly, attentive service. Great selection of craft beers on tap, extensive well constructed wine list, and skillfully made cocktails. Dinners are creatively presented and delicious. We travel to Lexington every Spring and Fall for the Keeneland meet and always visit Coles for a great dinner.
Always delivers. One of Lexington‘s top shelf restaurants. Always initiate, elegant & delicious.
Excellent food and service. It did take a long time for our food to be served but it was delicious. Our server was wonderful! Great atmosphere and location!
We were visiting Lexington for the first time and found Coles after looking at online reviews. Everything was absolutely fantastic!! The wine list was creative and our server was very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting our wine. We enjoyed the cheese plate, grilled Caesar salad, rhubarb chicken and the “best ever” pork chop! My husband couldn’t believe how tender & flavorful it was. Service & food was truly outstanding!
Always a great meal and great service! We decided to eat there for my Brother in Laws B-Day and the menu was perfect for the occasion.
Exceeded expectations!! Lovely place.. looking forward to a return visit to enjoy patio & food!
Only complaint is seating bench.. despise them. They are Inconvenient & uncomfortably !
Absolutely wonderful, as usual. Service was excellent and the food never disappoints
Coles 735 was a delight. The menu has great comfort food as well as fusion entrees for more adventurous foodies. We will go back the next time we are in Lexington
everything was just awesone (as always). best restaurant in lexington!
Cole’s has been one of my favorite dining venues. The service was impeccable in an upscale setting. My glass of cab (lesser cost of two on menu) was superb for a young wine. I was, however disappointed in entree choices—mostly the accompanying sides. I had the special that night, a bass filet. It was virtually tasteless. With all the other fine dining options in Lexington, I have no desire to go back. I MUCH prefer Epping’s, Cole’s new restaurant.
Service was excellent. The kitchen was having a rough night food was extremely slow and not cooked well. Service staff was overly accommodating. Will try again overall it was a good evening.
Cole’s never disappoints. They have the best staff who go over and above every visit. The food is always perfection. I wish I could get every item on the menu. Best restaurant in Lexington, KY.
The food at this restaurant slaps, best steak I’ve had
Our server was AMAZING. Two thumbs up!!
Good food and not overly busy
Our waitress did not know the menu or know anything about their extensive bourbon list. She gave the wine taste test to my wife who did not order the wine.
Took a little longer to have the main course served than I would of liked. Octopus was a little chewy. Not sure if it was over cooked Everything else was very good. Service, atmosphere, other food was excellent and couldn’t of asked for more.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. We will definitely be back and I would highly recommend to anyone.
Excellent restaurant. While the menu items might not always sound exciting (e.g., pork chops), the actual execution is excellent. Very delicious. Attentive and excellent wait staff. Mostly nice ambiance, though can be a little noisy. Fantastic place -- love going here, especially for date nights.
Always consistent, always good. THe steaks are always good, seafood special a little different not enjoyed by all. Service was very good
Great service and food was very good.
Great bourbon selection. My favorite was the Weller 12 year. The specials were great. I had the fish special and my business associate had the bone in filet. Both were fantastic. Great value as well. Very pleased. Keep it up!
This was our first time dining at Cole’s. I chose it as it was my birthday dinner celebration. Our friend that joined us asked that the fans be turned off as it was cold. Apparently this offended our waitress and she was quite unpleasant to our entire party for the duration of dinner. Additionally, the Udon vegetable dish was unflavored and skimpy on vegetables. Our waitress did not thank us for coming nor wished me a happy birthday. We will not be returning. Holly Hill in Midway is definitely worth the drive from Lexington if you are looking for an exceptional dining experience.
Great food and drinks
The food was excellent. Unusual items plus steak stand-bys. The presentation was very good, but the primary thing was the superb seasoning. The wait staff was outstanding.
Our waiter went above and beyond as he always does to ensure our service and dining experience were excellent!
The food was great. A very good experience. Reservations were perfect, Location is convenient, Service was professional.
Never disappoints. Food is always very well prepared. Noise level and restaurant setting were perfect.
Everything was stellar. Only complaint is the restaurant was drafty and cold.
Excellent food. Maybe my best meal yet! Service was great. Very crowded as it was a Saturday evening. Didn’t mind at all, but noticed the food was running a bit behind. No worries at our table at all. Waitress even accommodated and brought me a small serving of gelato at the end of the meal, not a full size dessert that I couldn’t eat. Thought that gesture was very kind.
I was able to resolve my complaint with the restaurant amicably.
I am looking forward to my next experience at Cole's!
