Went with work friends. It was a bit intimate for work / business. Food was delicious but pricy. Would recommend the mussels and the anchovie and EVOO tin! Our waiter / service was fantastic!
Oysters were absolutely the freshest and mussels were excellent as well! And reasonably priced!
Awesome restaurant! Food was fantastic. Our server (Mackenzie) was outstanding. We left all saying we can’t wait to come back.
We’ve gone here before but today seemed off. Catch of the day didn’t taste fresh and server was brand new and didn’t know much about the menu.
Very nice waitress and good deal on oysters
food awesome - service better! Fish and Chips are as good as I have ever had..
Went for my 12 year anniversary. Service was wonderful!
Best Happy Hour in Chicago!
Great for happy hour! Had wonderful dollar oysters.
We met friends here for dinner on a Friday night and the seafood, drinks, and service were all amazing! We had a great time and can't wait to return soon. It was a festive, fun atmosphere but also relaxed. The booths are much more comfortable than the high top tables though so I highly recommend reserving one if you can.
Food was great, service was horrible. Waited over 20 minutes before our server showed up to take drink orders. Food took forever to come out and we had to ask for it to go because the wait time made us so late
The place is fun, casual and trendy looking. The service was great, our drinks were good. Food was just okay - not bad, not great. The cold fresh seafood was probably the best - we ordered the oysters and shrimp cocktail and loved those. Prices were high for portion size (which I get that seafood is generally more expensive) so we opted for some warm dishes - fish & chips, a fish sandwich, and steamed mussels. Not terrible, not our favorites though. If I did happen to come back, I'd probably go for the fresh cold seafood options next time.
Fabulous experience. Our waitress Aby was cheerful and enthusiastic and made the dining experience lively.
Menu is too small
Came here with my hubby for brunch. I ordered japanese style pancake and he got crab roll. They are both good. We will come back for dinner in the future.
Abby our server was phenomenal. Food was great, drinks were delicious.
Dessert was outstanding! The variety of homemade ice creams really knocked ours socks off. Friends enjoyed the crab roll. My mussels were OK but not quite the season for them (the shells were very brittle). The smoked whitefish dip was really good, as were the oysters. Would go back to try the other desserts.
If your looking for a fairly casual place for Sea food this would be a fun place. Fresh Oysters, mussels or catch of the day. Burgers.....I don’t think so. It’s in the Fulton market area so a fun place to go.
Staff greeted us warmly and thanked us several times for visiting their restaurant. The Sunday brunch menu was creative and delicious. Portions were generous and the presentations attractive.
Service was great and very personable.
First time here and the experience was great! Food, service, wine was excellent. Will definitely be back.
The experience was just okay, and I was hoping for a generally good one. I didn't come here expecting an amazing seafood experience, either. The service was great-- a highlight of the evening as waitstaff and hostess were perfectly pleasant and helpful. Negatives included food that was just okay. I ordered the warm crab roll, double the price of a number of the filets of fish, and the crab was mushy and lacking succulent chunks that are expected in a crab or lobster roll. We ordered cocktail shrimp, little neck clams, shrimp cocktail, cocktails, and a few other things, and we only liked the shrimp cocktail-- kind-of hard to get wrong at a place specializing in seafood. The ambiance was a bit noisy, and there were only stools, no chairs with backs. I noticed someone else asking the hostess about this as well, so it's not just me for whom this is an issue. That really makes it hard to relax after a long day at work.
Went early afternoon before the dinner rush with my teens. Great vibe, welcoming location. Food was excellent. Recommendations given were all ordered and we were very pleased. Whitefish dip was my favorite app and the steam mussels were plenitful. Will be returning soon
Stopped in on Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. Chef's selection of oysters was delicious and paired perfectly with my delicious wine. Bartender recommended the crab roll and he did not steer us wrong. Everyone who works there is friendly and welcoming. Will be back soon!
This was an average meal with average drinks and average service. We sat at the bar. the bartender was not engaging, the food was below average. We had a grilled artichoke which looked like something we would have put back if at the grocery store. I had the crab knuckes for $36 and they were below average. Really, nothing terrible, but nothing redeeming when there are so many other great dining options in Chicago.
I would never have know this was only Cold Storage's fourth week of serving brunch. The eclectic menu paired nicely with the art deco-vintage 60's mash-up decor. The Japanese pancakes are unusual and very good. Portions are generous. Service was excellent - fun, knowledgeable, and on top of it. Only thing I'd suggest this place improve was the bloody mary. I was really hoping to see a Caesar's on the menu (with clamato), but the bloody mary wasn't anything to write home about. Overall, very satisfied.
Stools are very uncomfortable and the food was mediocre. Service was very good. Drinks were good.
Overall great experience. Attentive service, great food and good location. Highly recommend
We love going to Cold Storage. But the wait for our reservation was extremely long and this is either the 2nd or 3rd time that has been the case. We waited until 8pm, nearly 30 minutes, for our table to be ready, and then we were somewhat ignored in the corner for the first 10 minutes after we got there. Once we finally got seated and the food arrived it was great, as always. But I don't think Ill be going back anytime soon, and certainly not planning to go unless spur of the moment because I don't trust that they can keep a reservation.
Ok for local everyday dining.
Kudos to Jennifer, Abby and the entire team. Great service, amazing oysters.
everything at cold storage was just fine. nothing more, or less. i think the pricing is way too high for the environment and service.
I went with a group of 8 colleagues. The menu was limited and nothing was amazing. Our guy from California ordered the ceviche and was more than disappointed. If you want snacky bar type food it isn't bad. The people that ordered the steak were happier but that is confusing when the restaurant is "cold storage seafood". If we wanted steak we would have gone to Swift. For me it was a wasted restaurant experience in Chicago.
The wait was 45 minutes past our reservation but, the staff more than compensated for the wait. They were extremely gracious.
Recommend the artichokes. The homemade peanut butter ice cream is an absolute must (subject to allergies).
Sandwich was served with burnt toast, as we were on lunch we didn’t have time to wait for a re-do. There was one other table so thinking the kitchen wasn’t busy and could have done some quality control before delivery to table.
Wonderful food and great service. Malt fries are the business.
We enjoyed our experience at Cold Storage -- it was quiet (we went on a Monday evening for a 7 PM dinner), especially compared to Swift & Sons next door, which was packed. The food was good (we ordered a fresh seafood tower and then individual entrees), but not the best seafood I've had in the city.
Everything was excellent. Shared oysters, cold mussels and a crab salad. Will go back to try mussels next time!
Great service. Reasonably priced menu. Nothing too fancy. Perfect for a Sunday supper.
My friend and I met up for our dinner meet up.
I believe our server was Makenzi. She was attentive and made some good recommendations. We listened to her. When she came out with one of her recommendations we were surprised of what we saw. We tried the dish and shared our concerns. She promptly brought us another dish on the house. We appreciated that kind of response and customer service. There was not lul in our night because of that encounter. I do think we overstayed our welcome because the hostess came to our table and asked us if she could move us to the bar because there was another party waiting. We probably would have continued with our conversation and might but we were mortified that we had been informed that our stay was over so we left.
All in all it was a fantastic night, good food, and a fun time.
