The food was excellent to exceptional. Chef Eric even personally presented the truffle course to us. The service was perfect! Thank you, Coi, for a memorable evening of dinning.
For starters, yes, I know it's expensive. It's what you get for $900 for 2 with one drink each that's hard to stomach. Food is good..but not $900 good. Portions are small, but for the number of courses that are served, did not go home hungry. The biggest problem with the food is that many of the dishes came out luke warm. Lobster, squab, and lamb dishes in particular were quite tepid...so all of the high ticket items. That's disappointing for a 3 star restaurant that charges what they do. Service is via brigade, so you interact with many of the service staff. Some are quite engaging, while some go through the motions and seem robotic. Creativity of the food wasn't lacking, as many dishes were interesting and visually appealing. All in all, I appreciated the experience, but wasn't blown away to return any time soon
Dinner was excellent. 8 courses . Wonderful service. WE were the only table of 4 in the dining room. Only one other person dining. Strange!!!
The only concern I have is that the food was very very rich and we were all satisfied before the main beef dish was served. One guest was ill during the night, not from the delicious food but because it was so rich.
For a special occasion I would recommend this restaurant.
I was reading the 2018 Eater SF for the Top 10 restaurant in SF with the 3 michelin stars for my anniversary dinner, but not something I was expected. Wish the portion will be a little bit more; with the price for the meal we got, I probably go back to La Folie for a much bigger portion, or Michael Mina. But overall everything seems great.
Good service and high quality food
Celebrated my birthday with Coi. Excellent wine menu and they were very accommodating with my husband and I’s allergies!
Best of the 3 star restaurants in SF!
Thank you for making the 20th Ann a memorable night.
Next time we should be given a menu so we know what we are eating...fun but good to know.
Our dining experience was fantastic, we will definitely come back for the special occasions. It seems to me that all the Michelin stared restaurants chef carries a tweezer to decorate the dishes, like Quince, Benu,.........especially, the artistic elderflower design stands out.
Meals were excellent, alcohol pairings were eye opening, but service was not as expected. Cold milk was served with hot coffee, which we never experienced at the any of the finest restaurants around the world.
The ingredients, presentations and the food, none of them meet my standard for a michelin 3star restaurant. I can’t believe that their lobster course tastes so salty and the meat ball like thing in the pigeon course is so dry. Also the staff was so unprofessional when introducing the courses
Not ready to go into much detail. Still too fresh as dinner was on 9/7/18. Having been to 30+ Michelin Star restaurants and 5+ 3 star I feel I had proper expectations and gauge of what to expect. One of the most disappointing experience I’ve had fine dining. Food and service that felt inexperienced and lacking of a what could have been. They must be riding the 3 stars from prior to the head chef leaving and I would be hard pressed to objectively even consider my meal that of 1 star. The staff were very nice but also seemed to be unsure of what they were doing. The Somm was the lone treat of the evening and one positive I can mention. That’s enough of my rant as I can go on for a while.
The foie mousse with strawberries is to die for!!!! But everything was delicious
What an experience! Coi was amazing, it not only met but exceeded all our expectations. We can't recommend it enough. The food and drinks were amazing, the restaurant was beautiful and the staff was absolutely wonderful. Go to Coi, you won't be disappointed!!
The food was great and the service very good!
Great presentation on the food but I feel for a Michelin 3 stars, the food should be better
There was a lot of hype from what I was reading and Coi did not disappoint. Excellent presentation, and unique flavors exceeded my expectations. Definitely recommended for special occasions.
Service was mediocre, food ranged from pretty good to inedible. The dessert especially was terrible - we didn't see any other tables finish it.
The attention to detail is exceptional and the creative chef has meticulously sourced local ingredients to produce dishes that are a visual and gustatory delight. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Only drawback is that one is forced to have the tasting menu, which, even with two modest half-bottles of wine, came to over $1,000. Not sure it's entirely justifiable to charge this much but, then again, this is for special occasions and not everyday dining.
Lovely wine parings and wonderful 10 course tasting menu. My mom was late and they were very chill and seated us before offering us champagne. Amazing tumeric cardomon beer paired with an exquisite abalone dish. Servers were accessible humans dressed nicely with personal touches.
Their food was simply impeccable and delicious! I couldn’t get enough of the bread! I highly recommend this place!
First of all Thank you to be in this very nice Restaurant Coi in San Francisco.
We are going in the best *** Restaurants
In the World.
We payed a lot 💵💵💵for the menue but in Restaurant Coi you got the minimum.
We eat the menue , and my girlfriend eat no Abalone , Foie Gras and Clams and she pay the same Price 🤔😡👎
I know the Prices of the Food i am also a Chef cook in Austria!
The Desserts was the best 😋👌congrats too the Patissier.
None none none none
Coi had fabulous food and wonderful service that really made the experience.
Oustanding experience. Will return on the next menu cyclep
Flew from Denver for dinner and we were not disappointed. Knowing I don't eat meat but fish and vegetables; they had a wonderful riff on their traditional tasting menu. Every course paired amazingly with the wines as well. Service was impeccable and the next day treat was a wonderful touch. The abalone and lime marshmallow were definitely highlights! Hope to come back again one day to try it again!
An elegant and approachable experience of fine food and excellent service - couldn’t be more delighted and can’t wait to go back!
Excellent inventive prix fixe menu. The staff is professonal. Excellent advice from the sommelier as well. An elegant meal.
You dine among millionaires in a tomblike space between strip clubs on Broadway. You are served by soft-spoken robots programmed to describe every overelaborated course in great detail. You don't eat here, so much as identify flavors and appreciate exotic combinations. The exercise gets old fast: the dishes seldom unify their many competing tastes into an overall tastiness. And it is not just culinary simplicity that is missing ; the staff whisper and walk about like undertakers afraid to intrude on your grief. Afterward, I found myself wishing that, instead of attending this triple-starred Michelin dining event, I had partaken of that old-fashioned thing that restaurants used to provide: a meal.
How this establishment has 3 Michelin stars I cannot understand. Aerosmith & John Cougar Mellencamp non-ironically (afaict) playing in the background was a tad offputting, or at minimum, distracting. The service was fine, albeit a bit scattershot. Servers brought new courses out with previous dishes still on our table, and once attempted to take plates when we were still enjoying the current course. Often found the silverware didn't make sense with the course being served. It was all a bit confused, and unlike any other 3 Michelin star dining experience I've ever had.
They did handle a rather odd situation that occurred with grace: a small group of three arrived and proceeded to Skype with their baby from the table at full volume. Wth is wrong with people? In any case the staff politely asked them to cut it out... twice before they finally took the point. wow.
Ultimately, the food itself was for the most part inventive and lovely. Nothing blew my mind, but overall was nice. Wine pairing and sommelier were brilliant. Just not the overall experience I'd hoped for considering the hype, stars, and price. You can do better.
Second visit to Coi. First one with new chef. Excellent food (two Michelin stars, not three). Some outstanding dishes, others either lacked clarity or a "je-ne-sais-quoi". This said it was a great experience, service was perfect, great sommelier. Worth the detour.
Absolutely wonderful. As to be expected from a fine-dining establishment, service impeccable, top-notch food beautifully displayed, and a very memorable evening. Also, the tea pairing was a unique adventure.
A birthday experience with my love. The creativity of chefs astounds me. Once again I’m in awe of how every bite transcends. From the very first miniature bite of pleasure preparing me for what was yet to come, I was enthralled. Each course following the last showing me how much love for food the chefs themselves have.
The staff making us feel right at home which only added to the pleasure of sharing my birthday with them.
All I can say is.... thank you for the experience, which seems so minimal for so much pleasure.
We had a fantastic time at Coi, the food was fantastic and the staff was even better! Super enjoyable, I will go back!
I was worried after seeing the news that their head chef was replaced and reading a not so positive review on SF Chronicle, but I am happy to report back that it is fantastic and certainly on par with the other Michelin 3 Stars I've been to.
It seems Coi has lost its way! I’ve wanted to come for so long and was shocked! The food was beautifully presented, the service impeccable, but nothing really worked. The sashimi was fresh but the rice purée was pasty and without flavor. The abalone...what was that, exactly? Ugh! Desserts were better but I don’t go to fine restaurants for dessert. I will not recommend. I will not return. $371 was not appropriate for such a mediocre meal. I’m so sorry!
Absolutely sublime. Wondering how soon I can return! The service was excellent and the entire dining experience exceptional. Thank you to the chef and staff of COI for creating a very special memory.
Nice evening for our anniversary. Service was impeccable. Food was good, but I was a bit disappointed by most of the big ticket items. The duck, pigeon, abalone, and foie gras courses were fair. No real home runs and not especially creative but lovely and technically very good. Favorite course was mushroom dish early on.
