Extremely excellent menu, presentation and service. Staff is very pleasant and the understands that great service includes not interrupting your meal. The wine is dangerously good. Each plate is an artistic presentation. Michelin*** is still deserved with new staffing.

Food is good, not great. I would spend the extra $s to go to a place like French Laundry. 2 of 11 courses were exceptional. The others hmmmmm .... just good....

The food was delicious, and the servers were friendly and pleasant. The restaurant serves a high-end, expensive tasting menu, so everyone gets the same meals.

The problem is we were siting for an hour before we got any food - even the amuse bouche. Which is perplexing as the restaurant is serving every table an identical meal. This delay continued throughout the meal. It wasn't leisurely; it was painfully delayed. The timing was off. There would bE long pauses between courses - we ate several pieces of bread to stave off hunger and drunkenness.

I've been to every high end restaurant on SF, and the delays here were among the worst.

The food was also not plentiful. Unlike some tasting menus where you may be unpleasantly full by the end, I would not have been full if it hadn't been for the bread and the vast quantity of wine I drank.

I am not an SF native, but coming from SFChinatown, the area is a bit sketchy with strip bars nearby. The place was a bit smaller than expected. The tables were quite close together. My girlfriend and I were expecting a more intimate setting. The food was unique, worthy of a Michelin Star or 2. I was not blown away. The service was great.

We enjoyed the dinner. The staff was extremely accommodating and pleasant. The food from the standard chef’s menu was outstanding! If I were to pick out a critique, it would be that since my wife didn’t eat red meat, her substitutions (mostly vegetarian) could have been better. But that’s nit-picking. :)

COI has been on my to try list for a few years now and I'm glad I finally made it. It was AMAZING. All dishes were not only tasty but also prepared with great care and presentation in mind. The staff were friendly, respectful, and personable. They made sure we were comfortable. When we arrived 20 minutes early, they sat us down immediately.

It's really hard to pick one favorite dish... If I had to pick one, it would be the sturgeon. Oh wait.. no, the hazelnut cream with the caviar and hen egg. wait... yeah I can't pick just one favorite. They're all good!

Definitely will come back for a special occasion!

Disappointing is the word; definitely does not feel like a Michelin 3-star restaurant. Food ok but I was not amazed as I have been on all the Michelin restaurants I have been. the following day I went to Benu and that was certainly worth it. I would not recommend this restaurant

Presentation 5/5:
I booked this place on a Wednesday evening. The lighting and conversation level was much more relaxed than the other Michelin Star restaurants I've been too. The tables, utensils, furniture, and even the decorations on the wall were all so simple, modern, yet had a touch of poise and elegance, as if Gianni Versace breathed on this place.

Customer Service 5/5:
I'm so used to sliding into my seat that I was surprised when the waiters/waitresses were pulling out my chair and tucked the chair in when I adjusted myself accordingly. Never had that before and for the few hours I was here, I truly was feeling Upper Echelon. Though when that check came, that feeling drained out the window...

Anyway, great recommendations. Water cup was never empty. Wine was always refilled before the last sip. Paired the perfect beer for the remaining dishes on the menu. And even offered to provide additional desserts, which we declined because we were already full.

When they saw us get up for the bathroom, they even hurried to open the doors for us. Don't get that everyday.

Meal 6/5:
Coi provides an incredible tasting menu. I have had everything on the menu before, separately but their take on the dishes was phenomenal.

My favorites:
GeoDuck - caramelized duck cream, clams, and green onions

Portion size is similar to teacup level so you really do need to enjoy this one.

Halzenut - hen egg, parsnip, caramelized salsify, and puffed rice

This one is on par as far as taste level but man, the halzenuts to the salsify, to the rice, to the cream they pour over everything was to die for.

Beef - black trumpet with fermented pepper toffee
The beef is imitation wagyu, it was that delicious and the sauce was amazing. Tasted like a $10,000 oyster sauce

Overall, had an amazing experience. This place is somewhere you take someone, or even yourself, to be pampered. It is pricy ($250 a person) and there is an automatic 20% gratuity.

This was as disappointing of a fine dining experience. as you can get for Michelin three-star restaurant. I don't know what happened to Coi! Perhaps the loss of their chef. The courses were uninspired, single note in flavors, and simply disappointing. There are many other choices in San Francisco, suggest you try Atelier Crenn for the kind of brilliant cuisine expected from Michelin restaurant. Don't be disappointed? As we were.

Please don’t go! We first sent a letter to express the many failures of the new Coi, after two weeks there was no response , add this to the list of Just Wrong

We frequent Michelin restaurants and were excited to experience Coi as it recently earned 3 Michelin stars. We learned the chef that earned the 3 stars is not the current chef at Coi as he was selected to compete in Bocuse d'Or and left Coi. The new chef's tasting did not seem to measure up to what we are accustomed with 3 star Michelin restaurants. However, we felt the restaurant was a solid 2 star Michelin restaurant. My wife and I enjoyed the deserts and the lamb was the best either of us have ever had. My favorite dish was the mustard brassica. I think what hindered the evening most was not experiencing the tasting that got Coi 3 stars.

Coi recently earned 3 Michelin Stars and I was really excited to try the experience. Having been to Alinea in Chicago, Coi failed to deliver the 3 Michelin Star standard. Overall, it's really a 2 Michelin Star. The courses were okay. I barely had one bite on 2 of the dishes served as it was not good ( Beet and Coat Cheese Tart, New Olive Oil.) Most dishes were salty. On top of that, corkage fees were $40 the first bottle and $60 the second - pretty steep.

Great experience with local in-season produce. Fantastic 12 course menu tasting menu that was given to us as a suprise as requested so not knowing what was coming next. Great flavours, textures and preparations. Much respect to the chef. Highly recommended!!

As a Michelin 3 star restaurant it has a high standard to meet. Coi does so. All aspects of food and service were outstanding. The kitchen was more than willing to make adjustments for a number of dietary restrictions and preferences, and the substitutes were every bit as good as the primary menu items.

COI is rated by Michelin three stars. Then everything need to be an extraordinary experience. Obviously it's a great restaurant, but not worth 3 stars at the moment. The Wine Pairing was one of the best I have had, but food wise a disappointment.
