COI is rated by Michelin three stars. Then everything need to be an extraordinary experience. Obviously it's a great restaurant, but not worth 3 stars at the moment. The Wine Pairing was one of the best I have had, but food wise a disappointment.

We had a great time with food, wine and service...We enjoyed the caring and attention to detail from the service staff. Replacement dish could be better.

We chose Coi based on the delicious looking pervious menu. However, the menu we got was changed and totally not seafood based what we love so much. Caviar, crab soup(included with a big piece of crab skeleton in mine) and over cooked octopus were not the seafood delicates we expected. Instead, a course of carrots, cauliflower/broccoli/olive oil and one course with red beets were served, which looked amazing btw. Honestly, we had a great time but we expected far much more of the seafood expierence of the restaurant. The wine card is amazing, a big plus. So all together we paid 1200 for the 2 of us and did not got the expierence we dreamed of. Additionally, the automatic service costs of 20% are fine(167$) however it’s nice to notice in front so the tip on top would be a choice.

This is a very cozy restaurant. The chair looks very normal but very comfortable. Although, they got tons of waiters and waitresses, I still felt very relax by just sitting there. There were many dishes that you can taste various and multiple layers of flavors within one bite.

The goat cheese with beets was truly amazing. Taste like some yogurt, it has to pair with the beet, the rammish taste is just to the point and the crispy thing on the top can balance the texture.

My wife got substitute of the beef tender/crab soup which was a mushroom one. It was so brilliant, much better than the crab soup that I got. So many flavors just in one spoon, the mushroom flavor was... I couldn’t find a word for it.

Other dishes were okay, the matsutake was sweet and delicious. What else? Couldn’t really recall. But the main dish was lamb, which was not okay for me. Too normal and flat. The abalone was not tender, don’t really like how they handle it.

I’ve now dined here three times and every time I come away a bit underwhelmed. With the third star I had assumed they upped their game, but once again I came away with a feeling that it was just OK. Not great, but OK. Their food is beautiful, but only one dish wowed me.

Both my friend and I had significant gastro-intestinal issues after eating at the restaurant. We had the supplemental dish, so perhaps that was what caused it. The management was informed, and has yet to offer any remediation after more than three days of consideration.

From start to finish loved this place. Out of 11 courses not one was a miss which is very rare.
Service was great but not confining. Definitely on the expensive side as I added wine pairing and white truffle rissota. Definitely need to put on your short list an expience this

Coi is definitely a fine cuisine experience. The service was constant, but brief and the food was divine. It's very expensive so you can't be worried about that when you go. Overall a nice romantic evening with my GF that left my belly full, my taste buds intrigued and my wallet lighter!

A plus was the restaurant's willingness to accommodate my food biases. For instance, octopus was an item on the tasting menu, and I don't care to eat octopus because they are intelligent creatures. The server was happy to substitute something else. All the courses - fish and shellfish for the most part - were delicious, uniquely flavored, and artfully presented. Chef' Matthew Kirkley's talent is evident and the restaurant deserves its new three-star status. My only negative is about their wine list, which could be more extensive, especially since Coi hasn't a liquor license, and thus no full bar. But we enjoyed the dining experience and creative expertise.

Our main server Tim has a warm demeanor and more than happy to answer any of our questions. He checked in on us at timely but not intrusive intervals.

The wine director, Courtney, helped us select our wine for the night. When she opened our first choice she noticed the bottle had corked and immediately went to chill a second bottle. However, the second bottle; while not corked was a bit too mature (past it's prime). Without asking she went and selected another wine with a similar profile and allowed us to taste and pick which one we liked better. We of course loved her alternate pick.

The food was amazing! I highly recommend adding on the supplement dish for two. In our case it was a squab with spot prawn. Super luxurious plate. The highlight of the meal for me was the the braised octopus, the textures and flavors all came together very nicely. My taste buds were so happy! I wasn't a huge fan of the abalone dish as the cucumber broth over powered everything it touched, so eat carefully!

Overall a very lovely meal.

One of the Best Experience in dining. It's both visually & tastefully satisfying. Beautiful presentation, such an Art. It's worth the money, for very special occassions. If I can afford it, I'll be there every weekend :) I'm very happy that I was able to experience dining at the recently rated 3 Michelin Stars. Highly recommended.

Amazing. Tim our Captain was a rockstar. Every detail was well oiled, the front door was even opened for us as we arrived. Food was perfect, main courses jaw dropping. Wine pairing with a 1937 Maderia supplement to the Chefs Tasting and Wine pairing was fun to drink something 80 years old, plus.. they left it on the table, we sipped a few shots, delicious. Thanks Coi, and Daniel Patterson, your team is amazing.

I was looking for a special place to celebrate my wife’s birthday and decided on COI... could not have been more happy. Very enjoyable ALL THE WAY AROUND!! Service, People, Wines, and most of all Dining!!! I’m not one to give 5 stars (because I feel there’s always room for improvement), but this was exceptional.

I'd wanted to go to Coi for a long time, and finally did so to celebrate my birthday. The setting was lovely, the service attentive, and the food inspired and delicious...but not worth $250. Having been to several other Michelin-starred recreational fine dining establishments, maybe I've been spoiled. That said, this is the first such place that I have no desire to return to.

I was travelling and dining solo for a celebratory weekend in San Francisco and felt well taken care of at Coi. I received excellent and attentive service and of course the food itself was AMAZING! Even though it was nine courses, the flow of the meal didn't feel overwhelming. The abalone dish was my favorite (hard to choose just one!) The entire experience was memorable and I will be back with friends!

I was in the service and food industry for a long time, dating a chef and have experienced several Michelin star restaurants. For Coi, I wasn't blown away unfortunately. The service was great but the food, although creative in design, didn't wow me in comparison to other places I've eaten that didn't even have a Michelin star. Also, for a place that charges $250 a person, I would have expected a full bar available- a bit disappointing that we weren't able to order a whiskey and had to stick to beer and wine. I really wanted to like Coi, but it wasn't memorable. :(

We knew it was expensive, just over 400 bucks each.
The food, whilst inspiring lacked any depth of flavour and was so overly complicated.
But I'm not a fine dining person, so it's just not for me.
Service was impeccable however.
No sales pressure on wines, which I liked.

The service at Coi was amazing. The servers paid attention to every detail, and were very friendly. Our 9 courses were overall very good, the desserts in particular were great. The only disappointment was the main course of shrimp and bass missed the mark a little with its flavors. Overall a wonderful evening.

I booked the table last minute on open table hoping for enjoyable evening with my wife. The location of the restaurant was a little dodgy very close to a few gentlemen strip clubs in the city. Nonetheless the ambience of the restaurant was quite nice. The waiter was probably the best thing about the place. This summer we have already dined at Mugaritz in Spain and Dinner at Hestons in London. Coi besides being almost twice as expensive only offered an average cuisine at best, I have tasted far better food at average restaurants in Madrid and San Sebastián. About the only thing the chef got right was the presentation. I am of the opinion that anyone who eats here is more about flashing their cash as opposed to being a true food connoisseur. I enjoy the whole molecular gastronomy experience but Coi has a lot of work to do before it can meet my expectations. If you have $900 to burn please do visit it. I will not be going back!!

Excellent service and ambience from the moment one stepped into the restaurant - this was somewhat reflected in the prices. The menu was slightly restrictive, or perhaps I wasn't given a chance to ask for their à la carte. The complimentary brut starting off was a nice touch and this place guarantees everything being aesthetically pleasing from beginning to end. Began with a cute pretty finger food in the shape of a flower with buttery taste; mussel cannoli with mousse inside - quite smooth; Shigoku oyster prepared in a "molecular gastronomy" style - I know an emerald green salted crispy clam with black truffle might sound strange but it was tasty; caviar & tartare with honeydew melon - the lemon zest was brilliant; the Dungeness crab was quite good with the brine foam and marshmallows; enjoyed the bread plate and seaweed butter seaweed - another work of art with the butter; stuffed shells with lobster consommé, bone marrow and romaine lettuce was indeed delicious; the very beautifully arranged colourful turbot with fins replaced by thinly sliced fruits and vegetables in the same broth was slightly disappointing as the taste was a bit on the sour side; spot prawn and black bass with cucumber was satisfactory. Desserts were amazing; the green frozen scoop of sorbet (tea and herbs?) with elderflower atop and sugared strawberries beneath was a perfect match; the praline was presented as a solar system; the mignardises (or as I like to think of them, sweet petit fours) were so tempting I took them by the dozen; and the coffee was lovely. Service was laudable right up to the end - even when there was an accident occurring on the curb outside; staff was helpful and supplied water to the injured. Highly edifying experience - but one wouldn't be expecting any less as this amounted to $330 (gratuity included).

One of the best dining experiences. Amazing presentation, texture and flavor. The entire team was friendly and attentive without smothering with over service. Paul and Courtney really stood out. Paul is clearly the "personality", ensuring we had a good time ...fun guy. He also had some great recommendations for after dinner nightcaps. Courtney is a genius Som, asking all the right questions so we did not need to navigate the 33 page wine list, and recommending the perfect champagne to compliment the menu.

After sitting for 5 minutes, we finally had a waiter. After that , the service was exceptional. The food presentation was beautiful, the taste of most dishes was excellent. Our pallete's could not appreciate a couple of the combinations.
The cold rye/sourdough roll and average taste of the accompanying butter was puzzling.
