   I want to love this place, but it’s very hit or miss. The hostess was rude when we asked to sit at a table other than the one in the middle of the room. They were out of my favorite item but didn’t tell me that until I ordered. We were never offered another drink and the water is good old Savannah water with no treatment. At least offer bottled water. I will try again maybe.

   We went for dinner. The food was mediocre. I had the soup, of the day, shrimp and grits, sweet potato mash(shared w/ my husband), and the brussel sprouts. My husband had the Savannah Crab rice. All of my food was cold. The food flavor was nice, just cold. The brussel sprouts were “warm.” My husbands food was really nice and hot when it arrived to the table. We didn’t complain and not usually ones to leave reviews, but we definitely expected more for the money we spent on our dinner.

   Have eaten at Cohen’s Retreat several times, food and service have always been on point! Definitely will be coming back.

   Wanted to try a place just outside of downtown. What a lovely experience. Excellent service and very nice portion sizes. Excellent crab cakes. Lamb Chops were perfectly cooked. Very nice spacious seating with not a lot of background noise made for easy conversations. We will certainly be back.

   Cohen's Retreat is off the beaten path in Savannah, which means it's less crowded and has a shorter wait time on weekends. I'd still make reservations though, if able. Our food was delicious! I had the pan seared salmon, my husband got the lamb, and others at the table got the crab rice, shrimp and grits, and flounder. I recall that my sister wasn't extremely impressed by the crab rice, however the rest of our food was amazing. Our server was kind and attentive across the entire meal! The space is fancy, but eclectic with art pieces everywhere. The boutique on site closes at 7, and has some adorable finds!

   Food was great and worth the money but the service was lacking. Had to ask for refills on drinks and there was no sense of urgency.

   I asked for a space in the Perennial Room (or any space beyond the bar). Instead we were in the middle of the main room in front of the fireplace. The music--while fine choices for content and artist--was too loud for the first half of our meal. In the latter part of the meal the DJ's preference clearly shifted since it was a steady stream of Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band. I happen to like both, so whatever volume would probably have been fine. However, someone made a good choice for the dining experience and turned it down. The server often seemed uninterested in the job and breezily walked through the dining room without making eye contact with any table. Wrapping things up at the end was a long drawn-out experience while we hoped to attract someone's attention to receive the check.

   I am a frequent diner at Cohens Retreat but this time got relegated to the bar area, which was noisy, and had a server who was too busy to even get our order or offer the check without flagging her down. I like this restaurant because you can have a personal conversation without noise but not today

    I am a frequent diner at Cohens Retreat because you can have a quiet conversation there, which is important some days- food is always delicious But was sad that my favorite tomato pie was not available- when you taste it, you will understand why it is my go-to choice
