My husband and I had a wonderful brunch on Sunday! The food was delicious and our server was very attentive!! We plan to return soon!!
An unexpected treasure.
Worth going out of the way.
We enjoyed the lunch. The food was fresh and delicious.
I love going there ....the food is wonderful and service is great and love the look.
We were celebrating a birthday. Upon arrival, we decided to take photos in front of the fountain. The doors opened and we were enthusiastically greeted by Eric, who quickly volunteered to be our photographer. This was a first time visit for the birthday girl and from that moment until the end of the evening she was treated like a queen. Eric and Nicky made sure we had everything we needed- it felt more like being guests in their home than customers in a restaurant.
The menu was not Cohen’s usual dinner fare, due to COVID, but as always, there was still a variety of offerings and it was excellent. Our party started with the always fabulous fried green tomatoes with bacon jam and we shared a newer offering of hush puppies. Entrees included the divine shrimp and grits and Carolina Ice Cream (gold rice) with Mahi Mahi.
My friend said this was the best birthday ever (she’s a 39 repeat several times over). Fabulous atmosphere and superb food and service.
Amazing southern food -served with perfection! Fantastic, friendly-yet superbly professional staff. Rooms are incredibly decorated— great backyard bbq vibe!
Beautiful historic building, outstanding service and food!
The entire dining experience blew us away. From the artwork on every wall, to the knowledge of our server ( everything, yes, everything they serve is made on site), to the atmosphere of the place were top, top notch. There is a market, a restaurant, a bar, outdoor dining, and rooms to rent, and it would be worth it to go and stay for a few days, truly! We cannot wait to return.
The location was beautiful and unusual in a good way. We had lunch on our way through Savannah and were delighted to find this arts and food paradise. The rooms were all decorated in such unique style and the food was first class. I fell in love with one of the dressings and our server was also a chef, so he was able to describe the ingredients. Lucky me! I highly recommend this place.
Cohens is absolutely beautiful, I wish the food and service were just as good. We had a reservation for 8:30pm for our honeymoon. We stood at the podium for 15 minutes and no one came to greet us. We wound up walking to the bar and the bartender sat us. Minutes later our waiter came over and greeted us and was kind. Our waiter was great and our drinks were great but the food was horrible.
Great happy joir
This was an interesting place, kind of like an art retreat. The pecan french toast was very good and sweet. Our server was wonderful. Just wish their were a few more options on the menu.
The servers that were working were doing the best they could under the very short staff situation. This is not doubt due to the pandemic. Hopeful that our next visit is better.
The food was excellent. Our table got a variety but my fried Mahi and grits were very good. The drinks were also good but the service got a little slow at times. Considering they only appeared to have 2 servers with the COVID situation may be why though. The bartender was awesome. everyone enjoyed themselves and we had a great time.
Love the new menu and more sandwich options. Bar was quaint and comfortable and service from Nikki was the best!
Great food and drinks in a beautiful historic establishment. Perfect for any occasion.
First time dining at this restaurant. Experience was good overall but service was a bit lacking. Sat for over 10 minutes after being seated with no service. Had to get up and go to the front to request a server. They recovered well after that but generally it didn't live up to the positive things we had heard about the place.
Food was very good.
Decor needs a refresh.
Seems like they are geared more for events and parties rather than individuals.
Would go back again but there are better restaurants in Savannah.
Quaint place with great ambiance and live music ! Will definitely return often now that I live in Savannah
Arrived on time and was seated right away, waitress was a little slow in getting our drink order but food came out hot and within limits. Following dinner and desert it took awhile to get our bill. In there defense there was a large party in an adjoining room so staff was busy.
Food was great. Service was excellent. Wine pairing outstanding.
Cohen's retreat had a fixed price menu for Valentine's Day, which we felt was overpriced at $65 excluding wine. The salad was good but nothing special. I ordered seared scallops for the main and they were covered with a cream sauce that completely over-powered the scallops. My wife's filet was good, with mashed potatoes (can't go wrong) and just okay asparagus. The desserts were good. Wine selections for the 3 courses were priced separately at $20. Ambiance was good; however our table for two was adjacent to another table for two and we spent the evening conversing with strangers, which is not ideal for the occasion.
Took my sister for Valentine’s Day lunch, we enjoyed it . The bread/ butter / jam is to die for.
2 of 4 orders were not cooked properly. Both were sent back. Server was very professional.
Bar service was excellent
this was our third visit, this time with household guests who thoroughly enjoyed the food and the surroundings as well as the very nice shop with unique gifts.
On our first visit to Cohen’s Retreat, we ordered Tomato Pie and it was scrumptious! Our server was attentive and answered all questions, the surroundings were peaceful, and we really relaxed. I can’t wait to return and enjoy the full dinner menu. This place is a Savannah must-see and enjoy!
The portion size of Pecan Encrusted French Toast was tiny. It was either one regular size slice or possibly 2 miniature slices. It should be on the menu (and preferably priced as) an appetizer or dessert portion. Being a small person that usually eats half of an entree and takes the rest home, it was really telling that after eating every crumb, I was still so hungry that I had to go straight home and eat lunch.
My friend's Bacon Jam Benedict was a more reasonable portion size, but her avocado was brown. I tasted her meal and thought it was blasé.
Aside from all that, the server was polite, the atmosphere was charming, and the music was enjoyable. I just can't give it more credit after leaving hungry.
The food was incredible, the service was great and the building wow! We will definitely be back. Loved the market as well.
Cohen’s Retreat is the perfect place for a quiet lunch with a friend- noise level is low and food is tasty.
We went to Cohen's for lunch with a nice bottle of house rose. The chicken and avocado sandwich was outstanding. Not a fan of the current dinner menu, but understand a new winder menu is coming soon. I look forward to seeing it as it's a great atmosphere and the service is always friendly and professional
Had a friend visiting. Food, service and ambiance wonderful as usual. Room was a bit noisy because of the acoustics. A little sound dampening would really help.
We had a great waiter. Hannah.
As we were leaving the manager asked us how everything was and that it was Hannah’s first night.
We were surprised because she was so efficient , also very friendly.
Inventive menu executed perfectly ... surrounded by a refreshingly playful decor. A feast for the senses ... eyes and palate
Marty was our waiter, he is amazing!!! My husband and I were in town for our anniversary. The food was very fresh and the cocktails were very unique. Try the French toast! I strongly recommend that along with their soup of the day. A definite must try! We still definitely be back.
This dining experience was 100% better than our last. Our waitress was warm friendly and very accommodating to our needs. We were welcomed warmly. The food was accommodating to her needs and delicious. So glad to renew my faith in Cohen’s retreat.
Building is lovely. Food amazing! Service lacking.
Enjoyed the unique atmosphere and friendly efficient service.
Recommending to all my friends!!
A wonderful new place for us, reasonable prices and very prompt and attentive service. Musicians played Grateful Dead and other 70's tunes in the entrance area and while there were other groups eating lunch, the ambiance was still intimate.
My wife and I have been there the last two times that we were in Savannah. Both times we were very pleased with both the food and the service.
We were surprised that no one we talked to in the touristy part of Savannah knows about Cohen's Retreat. It is definitely worth the drive.
It was a Christmas Eve nightmare. We had taken guest with us to have lunch at Cohen‘s retreat for Christmas Eve. We were so so embarrassed by the wait staff. Our staff was rude, abrupt and not congenial. He would not change anything on the menu, did not ever ever ask my friend if she wanted more tea and actually rolled his eyes when I ask for more ice tea. I saw other waitstaff being so kind and friendly to people and it was disgusting how we were treated. I thought that Cohen’s retreat would step up their menu on Christmas Eve but I was sorely disappointed. The whole experience left the other couple actually shaking their heads and wondering why we would bring them there.
