Had a great time... me and my partner love the bartender, she is absolutely amazing!!!
This was my second time here. It was just as great as the first time. The Brussel sprouts will keep me coming back !!
Fantastic. Took a little longer than expected to receive our dinner but we were behind a very large party. The environment was beautiful I would 100% go back and recommend to friends just make sure you’re not under any time constraints :)
I have eaten at Cohen's Retreat many times over the years. This is the first time my experience has been outstanding. Gregory, our waiter, was thorough, knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The food was tasty and well presented.
Everything was fine except the kitchen was very slow at getting out our order.
The fish was excellent...the rest of the food, steak and shrimp grits was fair. Given the time of day and the number of people in the restaurant, the service was fair. For the recommendation, we did say yes, but it is really a maybe depending on the circumstances. We will probably go back for another try in a month or two.
The staff is exceptional, the food is fabulous, and the atmosphere funky and eclectic. We went to celebrate my friends birthday and she had a wonderful time. I’m so glad I decided to take her to Cohen’s! The whole experience was top notch.
The best meal I have ever had.
I have eaten at Cohen' Retreat in the past and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent. I have to say that the strip steak was juicy even though I had it well done. We got the Auspicious bread tray that was also excellent. I don't remember what the jelly dip was called but it was out of this world. I will go there again soon.
It would have been 5 Stars but my dinner drink showed up in a dirty glass
Great local restaurant, consistently good with a cool interior.
The food was good, but nothing special. For just a few offeings on the menu, we expected to be delighted, but we were underwhelmed.
Our server Nikki and the the other gentleman who kept our water glasses full were excellent. The cocktails, wine pairings, appetizers, and dessert were wonderful. I would have given Cohen's Retreat 5 stars, but gave them 4 because the shrimp and grits entree was way too salty. I was so hungry the other evening that I didn't want to send it back and wait on another entree. The flavor might have been good if it had not been overwhelmingly salty. I will return to Cohen's, but disappointed in what could have been a delicious entree.
Our table looked over the parking lot and the street—not the best view. Hours later as night fell, the ambiance was beautiful—with lights along the fence and lighting around the trees and the front porch. Staff was polite and welcoming. Brussel sprouts were amazing as was the sweet potato purée. My husband had the shrimp and grits. It was delicious but could have included more shrimp—there were only 4. Collard greens were fantastic. Pork chop had a good taste just a little on the dry side. Dessert was advertised as “Seasonal cobbler with Leopold’s ice cream”. We expected peach or blueberry since it was July—but were disappointed to hear it was apple!! Overall it was a good meal. We will most likely return sometime in the future but we’re not in a hurry to come back
Delicious and oh so charming!! I can’t wait to bring my out of town visitors here!
Server was good & knew the menu detail. Even though reservation was early, they were out of one of their key entrees. Berry salad very good, flounder good, curry chicken was heavy on rice and sauce but very little chicken. The other two guests did not care for their meals. On a scale of 1-10, the group rated this experience a 5 overall. Prior experiences there (two or 3 times in 18 months) were better. Probably will not return soon. Something (?) is missing.
A friend and I met for lunch at Cohen’s Retreat to catch up and have a casual, unhurried meal in a calm quiet atmosphere, with great food and good service. We found Cohen’s Retreat fit the bill beautifully. My friend had soup and a bread board and I had the pimento cheese BLT and fries. We were both completely satisfied. The portions were excellent, the flavor was exceptional, and the presentation was beautiful. We couldn’t have been happier and we will definitely be back.
Delicious food, hands down. Polite, helpful knowledgeable staff. Interesting and beautiful interior. I’ll always return when in Savannah.
Cohen's Retreat is a refreshing change of ambiance and food. The vintage surroundings take you back to a different time. I love the little shops and tucked away bars in the establishment. Then there is the food! Ive been there several times for lunch, and the food is always wonderful! In spite of the large building, it feels very quiet and intimate throughout. I highly recommend a visit to Cohen's Retreat.
Cohen's Retreat is lovely spot. Quiet enough for four to enjoy one conversation, and friendly, attentive service. The locally-focused and seasonal menu includes something for everyone and is inventive yet approachable.
One (small) quibble: On arrival (we had a reservation), we were shown to one of two very wide tables that would have made for awkwardly (loud) conversation between the two of us. We requested another table, at which we were settled immediately. But subsequent parties of two were shown to the same table, with the same awkward dance of "Can we be seated elsewhere?". You'd think by now they'd have quit trying to force the issue.
We had a lovely experience and thoroughly enjoyed the Retreat. Have already recommended them to several people.
We were a party of 4, with 2 of the guests from Long Island, NY and 2 from Bluffton, SC. The Saturday lunch menu was a "Brunch", which intitially dis-appointed us. Our previous lunch experience so impressed us with the usual foods so deliciously prepared that we were anxious to share this with our NY guests. However, the "Brunch" was Outstanding !!! The food experience was a WOW... My compliments to the Chef.
This was my first visit and I was very impressed. The décor was exquisite. The individual rooms are beautiful. Would love to have a small dinner party in the room with the unique tree with the fork, spoon, etc trunk. A very unique gift shop. It was a delightful experience.
Thank you to Chris, Nikki, and Marty for the exceptional service. Salmon was delicious and so was the Old fashioned.
The building is very nicely decorated. Food is southern with modern flair. Highly recommend
Special thanks to Kayla, our server, who took extra care with my dietary restrictions. Dinner - salad & mac/cheese - was delicious.
Beautiful venue, good food & great service! Took my mother in law for lunch & she really enjoyed it!!
I went with a friend. It’s a big place and there was only one other table of 2 people in our dining room and the other dining room was empty. The food was good and our waiter excellent. But it felt eerie being so empty
Everything was great from
Start to finish. Wonderful selection of hand-crafted cocktails with local spirits, excellent selection of low-country small plates and main courses.
Stop at the bar for a cocktail first. It’s a wonderful start to a tasty meal. Meal Presentation is lovely and a nice quiet place for conversation. Short Ribs are outstanding as was the shrimp and grits and grouper. All the ambiance of downtown Savannah but without the parking hassles
We dined with another couple on a Wednesday night so the restaurant wasn't very crowded, my husband and I ordered the whole flounder, scored and fried it was a little over cooked, tasty but not outstanding. My girlfriend ordered the grouper which was sort of a small portion. The waiter was very good and the service he gave us was great. I think this is a good place for a week night but we wouldn't make reservations for a weekend dinner, just a little too understated.
We arrived late after the lunch hour rish so it was quiet and most pleasant as being able to hear was a xo cern of one of my guests-delightful experience
Love this place but last time was disappointing. The cheese and fish appetizer (told us they ran out of fish) looked like it was store bought (crackers and cheese from a package).
Meal was good and service was excellent but appetizers a bit disappointing:(
Pleased with everything at Cohen’s Retreat. Such a unique place and the Chef is putting out some really good dishes. Look forward to the next visit!
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner with my aunt and uncle visiting from Colorado. The food was exceptional and the service was amazing. We had to change our reservation from 7 to 730 due to childcare and they were very understanding and accommodating. We can’t wait to go back!
It was wonderful as usual! Love it!!
Favorite lunch place for clients and friends. Always a place that lifts my spirits.
This is a great place to go. The food is excellent, parking is a breeze, and the service cannot be better. You can't go wrong.
