We were very disappointed because we thought we were going to a nice dinner. It was during Sundance and tables were hard to come by. Upon having a cocktail, we asked for a dinner menu and were informed they no longer serve dinner. We were shocked but were able to squeeze in dinner with our children at another standby restaurant. Wished we had known this before.
There is not actually food served here. Not sure why they even take reservations on Open Table.
Food was outstanding. Highly recommend. Wine was good too
Unfortunately we were told upon arrival that our party of 3 adults and 3 teenagers was not permitted in their restaurant registered as a “bar”. This should have been made more clear on the reservation. Website.
Our group of 4 on a Sat night enjoyed the character of 3 cognition red wines that we tried, but all 4 of our dishes were unimpressive and very poorly prepared. 2 of us had Halibut and both fish cuts were dry and overcooked, with the wild rice side being partly cold when served. The lasagna was too "tart" from tomato acid. Although the restaurant was only about 3/4 full and linguini was in multiple dishes on the menu, the chef literally refused to provide a side dish of simple linguini with garlic and oil; our friendly server was embarrassed to have to report that to us. It tells me a lot about a chef's "customer service attitude."
This is an over 21 establishment. Which I love!
Gina and Dennis, the owners of Cognition, personally made sure we were happy with our table, food and drinks. The food was fresh and delicious - wine superb! The music - one young woman playing guitar and singing - was the perfect ambiance. We'll definitely be back and bring our friends!
Interesting venue. Food was good with a very limited menu. Wine making is a few cases a year so the price of the wine is quite high given the level of product. We took advantage of a two for one entre offer so we had a good value. For Park City this kind of a one off location is pretty nice for a different kind of dinning experience. As it develops it needs to have two or three signature dishes that can be counted on for every visit along then with specials that offer a creative option to bring customers back to be regulars.
Excellent food, wine & service. Will definitely be back and recommend highly.
We love to eat here. Owners and servers very welcoming.
We had dinner at Cognition Bistro Friday evening and enjoyed ourselves immensely. As always, the wine was excellent but this evening we choose seafood as opposed to the Italian entrees.
We were surprised and impressed with both the seafood salad entree and the halibut. Both were beautifully prepared and presented. The quality of the seafood was superb and done with a light touch. Our service was attentive but not hovering which was remarkable. The bistro is relatively small and they were accommodating a party of twenty during our dinner. All the staff worked intensely to seat and serve the party but we were never abandoned. The staff is well trained acted professionally.
It was a wonderful experience. We look forward to our next meal there.
Our party of six very much enjoyed our dinner at Cognition. The owner Dennis and the waitress Shannon did a great job taking care of us all evening, especially since they were minus one server. They worked hard! The food was very good--the lasagna and linguine excellent with a yummy sauce, the Chicken Frangelico very good, the seafood salad not so good, with mediocre shrimp and very tough octopus. The wines, which Dennis makes himself were very good. The value was great due to the 2 for 1 summertime promotion. Paying $24 for lasagna is otherwise pretty high... The wines were all a good value, both the Cognition wines and others. All in all we really liked our time at the restaurant and hope that all goes well and we dine with them when we return to Park City next summer.
Great food, service, wine and interaction between owner and patrons. I will return.
Very nice place.
Shannon was very friendly and attentive.
The owner, Dennis, spent time at our table.
It was our second visit to the Cognition Bistro and it was better than than the first. The food was tasty and delicious, the service was friendly and efficient, and the wines are wonderful. I recommend Cognition to anyone who visits Park City and is looking for a relaxing meal in a pleasant setting. My wife and I will return soon.
We really enjoyed our outdoor dinner at the wonderful winery and bistro. The food was very good and their Cabernet Sauvignon was great. We'd definitely go back. The owners and wait staff was friendly.
Really enjoyed our first experience! We will return soon.
The food was exceptional. We had meatballs and flatbread. Both homemade and delicious. Service was great and we thoroughly enjoyed their wine.
Food and service were excellent , restaurant is not air conditioned and Park city is unseasonably warm , so uncomfortable. Decor quite bland. Reservation was not available at 6pm so came at 5:30 and very few other people were there , even when we left around 7:30
wonderful intimate local wine bar/ nice apps will go again & shall recommend to others
We had a wonderful evening at Cognition. It was our first time at the bistro but we are familiar with and enjoy their wines. The atmosphere is welcoming; the service bright and attentive and the food excellent. I enjoyed my made to order lasagna entree and my wife's seafood salad was wonderful. We savored the Cognition Zinfandel before, during and after dinner. In all, a very enjoyable evening. We will return soon.
Their wine paired very well with the dished listed on the menu. Seating was inside the winery fermenting room. Local singer added to the décor.
Cognition Winery is a gem of a place. The food and wine was excellent and the owners are definitely into PR. I highly recommend it.
Great wine, did the flight and enjoyed all the wines except for the Chard, but that is my preference. Loved the food: the seafood salad is enough to share with 4 people with lots of seafood, Margherita flatbread was delicious with the pesto base and lots of beautiful ripe tomatoes (served piled like bruschetta) and the escargot was heavenly and not swimming in butter but with lots of delicious herbs to sop up with the equally delicious rolls. Finished off by sharing the vanilla gelato with berries and limoncello, perfect!
Our waitress was excellent, owner and chef came by during the evening. Such a welcome comfortable place that makes you want to stop in all the time! Outdoor dining must be nice in good weather.
lovely intimate wine bar, lots of cocktail & interesting food options. acoustical guitar duet singing, also taking requests. great location next to Windy Ridge, easy parking. Would go back there soon.
Great wine, wonderful music, mediocre food and very uncomfortable chairs. Very poor location for the musicians, you could hear but barely see them.
Great wine selection.Liked the fact that is is Park City local wine with local Park City labels . Service was outstanding. Server was very knowledgeable about the wine and food. Food was excellent and great variety. Liked the fact that you can purchase their wines for carry-out. Will return.
We love our wines and so do the owners of Cognition. We had a lovely, in-depth conversation with the owner about his wine making process. It was fascinating and fun. We had an excellent time at Cognition.
Dinner at cognition was amazing! My boyfriend and I went out to celebrate my birthday. We were looking to try something new and off Main Street. Our server Katie suggested we start the meal off with a wine flight. Katie was so intuitive: every course was well timed. Thank you to Katie for all the suggestions and amazing service!
Great new place in town
My husband and I tried Cognition on a Saturday night based on a recommendation from a friend. We were very happy with it. I tried the Cognition-branded wine flight and really liked it. There was a good selection of other wines as well. The food was delicious - we shared a chicken marsala polenta and a roasted chicken flatbread. There were vegetarian and seafood options as well. It also looked like you could have a small, private event there in the back. The staff was very friendly.
Love Cognition Winery and Bistro.
We've enjoyed Cognition's wines for four years and we're excited when they changed location and opened the Bistro at the new winery. We've been to the Bistro several times and the food is always excellent! The small plates are perfect for sharing as well as are the larger plates/entrees. Staff knows their wines (okay it is a winery) and the hand-crafted speciality cocktails were really nice. I tried the pear martini and my hubby likes his margarita.
One last thing, especially important in Park City, plenty of parking!
Personable staff, great wine and food! Would definitely come back on our next visit.
As usual, a wonderful dining experience. The asparagus mushroom soup was exquisite. I hope this stays on the menu. The Italian sausage flatbread was delicious too. The sausage is homemade! Can't say enough about the wine either. Love all of Cognition wineries wine. Why would I drink any other?
This restaurant has just opened and we went to explore the wine list and to enjoy a birthday dinner. We were not disappointed. Everything tasted wonderful and the wines were divine. The staff was very friendly and professional. Our meals did arrive a little early giving a feeling of being rushed but I am sure with time this will be worked out.
To the restaurant's defense, it had just opened when we ate there but we were highly disappointed in the quality of the food. The polenta dish was the best by far but the rest were either lukewarm, undercooked or overcooked. The biggest disappointment was the wine. We were interested In tasting the cognition wines but the red wine was served in extremely warm glasses! They felt like they had been just removed from the dishwasher so it completely ruined the taste. The white wine served was so warm, there was no way to taste the actual wine. For a winery based restaurant, they have a long way to go.
I'm so glad Park City has it own local winery/bistro. The atmosphere is unique and fun. The staff is excellent and the owners are wonderful people. They are welcoming, friendly and available to talk and answer any question you have. The menu is eclectic. The crab bisque and polenta are 2 of my favorites but everything I've eaten has been delicious. And so are the desserts!
I believe I've tasted all of Cognition Winery's wine and every single one is outstanding along with the handcrafted cocktails.
I plan on returning many times.
Enjoyed celebrating the Grand Opening at this fabulous spot. The story behind the making of the wines is quite fascinating and the food portions were perfect. Will be highly recommending
