Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: Fine-dining vet Jordan Smith has plenty of fun with the menu at his French-ish Ferndale spot that the Detroit Free Press named 2024's best new restaurant. The sleek wooden interiors make it feel very upscale, but Coeur is totally unpretentious and laidback. Expect a seasonal menu of dishes like a branzino curry with trumpet mushroom and next-level desserts from pastry chef Carla Spicuzzi like a swanky take on a Choco Taco. Overall it was ok. I think chef is trying too hard to create high brow food but he/she is missing the mark. Small portions. Limited wine list by the glass. The service was good and they remodeled the space nicely from days as Asagi. I don’t like being told that we must order everything at once by the chef….who is the customer? I guess we spent money to please the chef

The drinks, Garlic Bread, Ravioli , and Coulotte Steak were all outstanding.

Was super excited to try this place....Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. The food was solid but the place was maybe 1/2 filled, the atmosphere/decor would be great for a panini shop but lacked any real personality and our waiter was pretty clueless...he hadn't tried several items on the menu so was of no help and when we needed drinks not on the menu ...we had to help out finding if they had the ingredients. Also, despite having pages of French White Wines, our favorites...we had 2 that were close to tasteless...French bread, warm olives were nice. The chicken was good, not phenomenal but good. Cocktails were awesome but a bit tiny even by fancy restaurant standards.

Really amazing food! The garlic Parmesan bread with a sun-dried tomato oil is so, so good. Grilled asparagus and charred octopus were also outstanding. Great atmosphere, friendly service, great wine list, and creative, wonderful dishes—Couer offers something for everyone!

Great food, great music (added several tracks to my playlists), service was ok (our waitress wasn't very personable and didn't seem to be well-versed in the menu). I'd probably go back. The dessert and cocktails were great!

From start to finish the staff were helpful and attentive. The ambiance was lovely, vibrant, and unique with a fun mix of abstract art and mid-century modern flare. The food (brunch menu), while good. wasn't quite up to the price point. However, it's a fun place for a special occasion!

We had an interesting experience. Reservation at 7:30, table was not ready until 8:15 - BUT their assistant manager Katie could not have been nicer or more apologetic and ultimately all drinks were comped including our wine with dinner. This went above and beyond - and by the way I’m typically not a very patient individual when it comes to waiting. I hope they don’t have to do this too often as I want them to stay in business, but the gesture was truly appreciated and by the way all food was excellent and table service was great. This was a master class in how to turn a bad situation into a positive one. Bravo Coeur and Katie in particular ! We will return soon and wish you every success in the meantime…👍
