Fabulous French bistro. Very attentive staff and excellent dishes. Not all that fancy but all dishes executed well.
Great Birthday dinner. Nice Ambiance and good service
Great experience. A little wait period before being seated, but everything else was exceptional
What a wonderful restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner out (plus Anniversary!). The menu accommodated husband’s gluten-free diet, the waitstaff was really helpful, exquisite food and wine, and fabulous music! The cablecars rumbling by made it even more magical. Can’t wait to go back here.
Nice neighborhood and outdoor dining was very nice, heaters provided as it was a chilly Thanksgiving night. Overall, food was good, not spectacular. Wine pairings were ok, Pinot Noir was not to our likely.
Fabulous French food and good wine at a great price point plus live music
Thanksgiving, was absolutely delicious but very expensive!
Food was good and area picturesque
Was very disappointed in the food. We had Osso Buco and Coq au Vin… the sauce for both tasted exactly the same.
The fries were blahhh. The tarte tatin was not good… very poor and mediocre french food. The restaurant would not last a day in France.
Loved it! It was our first experience… it definitely WON’T be our last.
The food was ok, but unfortunately it did not make up for the too loud music and the rude staff.
A little bit of Europe in SF - never disappoints! One of our favorite spots - food is amazing!!!
Cocotte is one of my favorite restaurants in the city, my partner and I have been going here for date nights for years. The Filet Mignon Wellington is my favorite! Also the Banana Creme Brulee is a must for dessert.
One of the band members playing that night interrupted my and my dates dinner, mid eating, and asked for a tip. That’s a little tacky, but I understand, it’s a rough time for all. So I politely try to decline and was given an extremely rude response which infuriated me. No one is entitled to a tip, it is discretionary. Honestly, from our very nice little table under a nook we could not even hear the band. This woman’s attitude was absolutely horrible. I immediately asked for a manager and was taken care of by our server. The staff was great, gave us a free dessert, which was very good and much appreciated. But the fact this woman was allowed to go front table to table asking for a tip, and when not getting one gives a rude attitude and comment, is NOT OK. This soured just experience big time.
Live music was much too loud for my taste. Service was great as was food. Wine choice was ok.
Last day of Restaurant Week and wanted to give it a try. Cheese soufflé + salad starter were superb; husband had the duck rillette w/ toasted brioche that was very flavorful. Dayboat scallops + beef Wellington for the mains were also delicious and quite plentiful (half his Wellington came home). For dessert we had the banana crepe brûlée + panna cotta, both were nice finishes to end a really lovely dinner. Will most definitely be coming back!
It was nice and the staff were caring and welcoming.
Good dining experience and my husband said he would eat there again.
This is a small and busy space, even so the service is great and the food excellent. It is apparent that much thought and preparation has gone into each flavorful dish. Best oso bucco ever. Smoked duck salad perfect. Good wine list. Lively spot with music, indoor/outdoor dining.
Service was great! Food was just ok. Dined there during SF Restaurant Week, and ordered off that menu. Food was not all that fresh. Salad dressing was good, but salad was wilted and had been already pre tossed and sitting. Beef Wellington was just ok, puff pastry wasn't very crispy/flakey and beef was over done. Panna Cotta was delicious but Banana Creme Brulee was not cooked thoroughly and was a bit runny, and there wasn't much of a brulee on top and still had some sugar on top that hadn't been bruleed. Wine pairings were good. Not impressed, not likely to return.
Had to sit outside on an uneven service. Hard to be comfortable. I wanted to support “Dining Out SF”
I felt taken advantage of. They forgot to bring the bread, tge rilette tasted old, entree was delicious but I came fir the chocolate dessert that they said they no longer had to offer. Then take if off the written menu and online. Too busy trying to push as many dinners on unsuspecting customers. Too bad
Fantastic food (loved the Beef Wellington), service was top-notch and ambiance was great with live jazz music. We tried this restaurant due to Restaurant Week and will definitely be back!
The beef Wellington is incredible and the olive with bread spread is also really good. The rotisserie chicken is not worth it, but I’m glad we tried it since I go here often (a bit dry). The wine selection is a bit pricey but good. The live music is a nice touch, but they could lower the volume on the artists a tiny bit.
Beef Wellington was a generous portion of filet, medium rare, wrapped in a pastry crust which was a little underdone. Service was good, music too loud for my taste.
Great restaurant. The food was really good and the service was fast ,friendly, all the good things. We were celebrating my sons 16th birthday with his favorite meal, Beef Wellington, and it didn't disappoint. We were on vacation from Washington State, but if we lived in San Francisco we would definitely be returning. Its not a quiet environment by any means fyi, but we were okay with that. I would also highly recommend reservations as its not a large place.
This was a lovely meal! The jazz during our day there was lovely. I have to admit, the outdoor area is a bit tough because it's on a slant but they made do with what they had! It is very cozy.
The food was phenomenal. You have to try the beef wellington. It was superb! Overall, the service was fantastic. Would go again!
This spot is just charming! We loved the musicians that played throughput brunch. For a small menu, there is a surprising variety, and each item seems to be better than the next. The team is down to earth and fun as well. Don’t miss this hidden gem!
Slanted table on the street. No heaters. Decent service. Marginal cheese soufflé appetizer with little flavor. Decent Beef Wellington, slightly overcooked and heavy pastry. Cold creme brulee with almost zero crust. Total bill for prix fixe dinner for two was including fair wine pairings was $245. Poor value overall.
Excellent food, service, live music
We had a great experience at Cocotte. The service was excellent, we enjoyed every dish we tried. We ordered off of the regular and restaurant week menus. The Beef Wellington was a stand out dish.
Beef Wellington was ample and excellent. Well-priced for what was provided. Very nice service. Electric guitar duo was excellent and added buzz. Only tip: turn down amps a touch.
Very festive evening. We'll return even when it's not Restaurant Week.
Amazing food considering the size of the kitchen. Staff was friendly and courteous. Hard not to love this place.
Great ambiance and food. We spotted this randomly from a recommendation by OpenTable. Definitely worth a visit.
Beef Wellington was great. We also got their soup of the day (corn soup) which was amazing.
Always a good meal. A touch of Europe!
Delightful. Only drawback was the live music (a real plus) where the bass player grossly over-amped. But as long as we can be seated outside his amperage, we look forward to returning.
Great food, live music, busy staff, a bit noisy when cable cars roll past, but that’s San Francisco!
Great staff, food and live music!
We went for a date night, and it was wonderful. Service was relaxed but attentive. Live jazz was nice, if a little loud for conversation, but merely meant we stayed closer together. The food was exceptional.
Great service, no ambiance, nice when the jazz started...food was very good. Thought it would have more of a french bistro feel for some reason. I'd go back for the food and the jazz
Incredibly helpful service. Cocotte staff are gracious hosts. Table favorites were the ossobuco, the mussels, and the goat cheese fig tart. We enjoyed the live jazz. It sometimes got a bit loud but still overall created a great ambiance.
