Cocotte restaurant merges the timeless essence of the traditional French rotisserie with avant-garde flavors inspired by Califonia’s farm-fresh palate.
Great food and ambiance. Lovely wine list as well! Neighborhood gem.
I would not recommend this restaurant for Thanksgiving... food was highly overpriced and not good... I also stood at the front just trying to check in for my reservation and was ignored for 20 minutes (not exaggerating)... the host kept looking at me and then wouldn’t communicate with me. I was a server for years and have a lot of patience/understanding but the way my gf and I were treated very poorly. I would have walked out but no other places were open and I would have been charged $20. What a diss appointment.
I had Thanksgiving dinner at Cocotte. What a great experience. First, the food is superb. Second, the service is excellent - the wait staff knows that Cocotte is a tiny space, and they work hard to make you comfortable while you wait for a table. Finally, Cocotte maximizes the use of its small room; I never felt crowded even though the place was packed.
Cocotte is an outstanding restaurant. I highly recommend it.
Cocotte was fabulous for Thanksgiving. The beef Wellington was cooked to perfection, the pork belly salad was a lovely balance of sweet and savor and banana crepe brûlée out of this world. Our server was delightful.
Went with family and a friend for Thanksgiving prix fixe menu. Service was very friendly. We arrived early and they sat us at the bar for drinks until our table was ready. Food was excellent and the ambiance was perfect for a cozy family gathering on a cold SF day. It was exactly what we were expecting.
I love this restaurant - it’s cozy and familiar and every meal has been great. They also have a great wine list. Will be back again soon!
Delicious food! I had the pork special and it was super tender and flavorful. My husband had the gnocchi and loved it.
Had a fantastic date night here with my wife. The service and food was amazing. Looking forward to going back.
intimate, delicious--a wonderful place for dinner with friends.
The food and service is amazing. Afraid to leave a review because this place is an amazing hidden gem.
Very authentic french food and cosy atmosphere. Good wine selection. We will be back
Had such a pleasant experience here on a Saturday night with some friends from out of town. Food was delicious and the service was great — friendly but not overbearing. Make sure to get the corn and trumpet mushroom side dish, so simple but so good!
Went there for our anniversary. Food was outstanding, wine was great and service was perfect. Would definitely recommend.
The owner is an amazing guy and makes you feel like you’re in Europe. Good vibes, great date spot.
We enjoyed a very tasty dinner and a great service there.
Ambiance ambiance charming. Staff also charming helpful. Food was amazingly good and patrons at the next table agreed . Our visiting Japanese friends were most impressed. AND reservation was on time. Can't wait to return. Thank you to Peter Anton for the recommendation.
Very nice dinner
The Beef Wellington with bone marrow is fantastic. Looking forward to coming back.
A neighborhood gem! Everything was wonderful...the food, service and the ambiance.
We are now going to be regulars here!!!
Always a great way to spend an evening. Warm atmosphere, great Paris Bistro-type food, and Stephan (the owner) is a wonderful host.
Nice bistro food, odd and slow service.
Charming, homey, laid back place with very good simple French food and a creative fairly priced wine list. Note: beer and wine only.
had the cheese plater, beef wellington, chicken, and banana creme brulee. Everything was really good besides the chicken who was a little dry
Was alright. Kind of frantic service. Spent a fortune and left very hungry. They should at least be generous with bread if they aren't with the food portion size. Molten lava cake was a disgrace.
So disappointed! We’ve been looking forward to trying Cocotte after reading some of the reviews, looking at the menu and just because we love the neighborhood. Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed by the overall experience. We spend a great deal of time traveling in Europe and are used to leisurely dining experiences and frankly don’t like being interrupted every 5 minutes. However, the amount of time we were left waiting before being offered water, a drink (30 min) was insane. When I tried to catch the waiter’s eye, he rushed past our table and yelled something quickly we couldn’t quite make out. It appeared the problem was that there was one person who was the host, waiter, busboy, wine steward for entire restaurant ( approx. 10 tables about 1/2 2 tops and 1/2 4 tops) and 4 spots at bar which were all full at same time.
The food was also just ok, but nothing special. My daughter’s salmon crudo was actually quite weird with a heavy crepe almost pancake underneath the salmon mixed with some type of cream rather than a clean citrus/olive oil blend that one thinks of with crudo-it actually tasted sweet which was offputting. The rest of our food was fine, but nothing we’d remember next week. Sadly-Cocotte was a swing and a miss for us.
Great restaurant, food, service, staff, owner. Will return for certain.
Great place for all occasions
My regular SF neighborhood bistro. Love it. The owners are great - friendly and very accommodating.
My wife and I have been going to Cocotte off and on for many years and during that time have introduced many of our friends to it. We’ve had outstanding meals and some that weren’t so. On Aug 2nd we returned for an anniversary dinner, my wife had Beef Wellington and I ordered the bass. As I brought the first bite to my mouth I could smell the fish and the taste wasn’t much better. The presentation was nice but the bed of couscous or whatever it was placed on detracted instead of enhancing . Fortunately we had ordered a couple of side plates which were good. But that’s the end of my patronage with this restaurant. In this town there is NO excuse for serving fish past its prime. We will not return.
Stephan ALWAYS a great host. Cocotte has been our 'go to' spot for a quick and delicious bite to eat if we're in and around Nob Hill. I think I rotate between the beef Wellington and the roasted chicken on my last few trips. Pro Tip: Parking is challenging. We park in Union Square area and Lyft/Uber to Cocotte. Or I guess you can jump on the cable car. Runs right in front!
Hospitality is what takes this place to the next level. Food, drink is amazing, but the experience will bring you back.
Cocotte re-incarnation of the Hyde Street Bistro does not disappoint. This outstanding neighborhood restaurant has lost none of its charm and remains a welcoming place. The kitchen executes extremely well on its regular menu items and complements the basics with seasonal offerings. The service strikes the proper balance between professional and friendly. Cocotte is a good example of why San Francisco is a culinary mecca.
A little touch of Paris. Friendly staff.
Very good food. I really liked the mussels, this appetizer with a side of their home cut fries made for a tasty, satisfying dinner. Service was attentive. So, we will be back to this cozy restaurant that’s not 4 blocks from our apartment.
This place is very nice with European ambiance, excellent food and really nice staff. It is very romantic and perfect for a date.
Enjoyed the service very much. The salad and coq au vin were delicious! The chocolate molten cake was okay. Great overall.
Love this little neighborhood restaurant. Everything I’ve had there is delicious. Ok the Lobster salad wasn’t great but I’ll give them a pass because of the rest of the food! Have been several times and will keep coming back.
Our waiter barely came to check on us, but the other staff members were great. The food was pretty flavorful, but nothing incredible. It was extremely loud whenever the washer in the back was using the sprayer to clean, and the music was really loud. There are much better restaurants to spend the same amount of money and time in San Francisco.
The food was delicious especially the pork chop and chicken. We will go back and enjoy the fine wines and food.
