Cocotte Ratings and Reviews
Thanksgiving dinner was exceptional. Service was amazing with great wine recommendations and food knowledge. Props to chef Daniel that I had the pleasure of meeting this thanksgiving who put out an incredible menu my family and I enjoyed. Very busy and props to the entire staff for making mine and my family's thanksgiving a meal to remember.
Time/reservation management should be a very simple task for all restaurants; yet, at Cocotte, their incompetence managed to make it a difficult task, as they had us waiting 75 minutes for our table--even with a reservation. To add, they brought 2 out of 3 starter dishes for us and had us waiting ~8 min for the 3rd person's soup. Now, although the food wasn't as great, as expected, it's understandable because people have different (dis)likes. The real problem was the time/reservation mgmt, the hostesses' arrogance, and the food service. Even though it was Thanksgiving and we were nice, we still gave a 20% tip; however, think of it as a goodbye present, as that is the last time they will get any of our money (or any of our friend's money).
Decent enough spot. Pretty good (if pricey) food. Mostly friendly service. Honestly I was quite happy with it until the end. We asked to split the bill across a couple of credit cards. Instead of simply stating that it was not their policy to do so (Which would have been totally understandable). The waiter/bartender made a derisive comment about millennials that me then tried to disguise as a joke. This just left a poor taste in my mouth since we had simply asked the question, were not insistent, and had no problem following the restaurant’s policy. Disappointing end to what was otherwise a pleasant meal.
4 of us had a set menu and everything was very good but the beef which was a bit tough to eat. Do we have to request a quieter table? We seem to get the same table which is the entrance to the kitchen. Otherwise, we had a good time! Thanks to the restaurant crewmen!
Somehow a $100 bottle of wine got added to our check. Had to ask for the itemized receipt since the bill seemed high. Behold, a $100 bottle of wine was there that we did not drink or order. It was taken off but seemed shady since we had to ask for the itemized version. No one would be the wiser if we hadn’t had asked. Will likely not return.
Cute place, but LOUD. We went here on the recommendation of a friend and because I saw Cocotte on Bay Area Check Please. We got a nice table and the service was pleasant, but it was busy and quite loud inside. Also, the menu was fairly limited- the only beef choice was beef Wellington and we were looking for a steak frites or pork chop dish. Also some of the items featured on the show were not on the menu. I had mussels and fries and they were good.
Had reservation at 8 arrived at 750, two couples arrived about 5 min after with 8 pm reservations. One couple was seated before us, both served wine and orders taken before us. Started with the corn chowder soup du jour. under seasoned cream with lots of potato unnoticeable amounts of corn. Shared the empanadas (at a French bistro?) bread was served with a strange brown pesto? Small tight seating, slow service. Will not be returning.
We really enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere, although our waiter (also the bar tender?) was a bit snarky with us - perhaps he was having a bad night? I have had great service from him in the past but this visit, we got a lot of no's to our requests. Hands down, the entire staff and their delicious preparations were lovely. Our party had a great time - the caesar salad, squash blossoms, frites, gnocchi, empanadas, and roasted chicken + wine were absolutely divine. The side of spinach could've had better presentation, but we will definitely be back. Merci beaucoup!
I've been to this place many times. Love it! Live close by. Food is amazing but the service is very poor. I usually don't let it bother me. However I had an 8:15 reservation for two last night. Got there at 8:05 stood at the front for 10 min while everyone ignored us. Finally the bar tender said can I help you I said we have an 8:15 reservation. He then told us the table wasn't ready then another couple walked in late and said they had a 8:15 reservation and he sat them right away! That's not ok. We had the same amount of people and the same time and was there first. I continued to wait for another 15 min even though we were being ignored but as good as the food is that is not ok! That's not the service I want to pay for and there are other restaurants with both good food and service! I walked out and don't think I'll be going back until they learn how to treat ALL their customers.
Promising space to begin, incrementally louder as the evening progressed. As we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, not 15 minutes beyond our scheduled reservation, owner/host asked continuously when the rest of the party would arrive, subtly implying the delay in turnover of table. Interaction and behavior with owner/host was particularly ageist, noticed by both 80+ guests and others at the table. Good food balanced the otherwise disappointing service for our mothers birthday celebration. Perhaps my fault for not vetting the venue more thoroughly or understanding the clientele they cater towards.
We had a lovely meal at cocotte, think the stars of the menu are the desserts!! So really don't miss out on those. The sorbet was out of this world and banana brûlée also a winner. Was provided this as recommended by the chef himself, would not have otherwise chosen those items on the menu and would have seriously missed out! For mains definitely ask for some bread to dip in the roast chicken dipping sauces - it's delicious. Also a good reasonably priced wine menu. Would recommend!
Always a pleasure coming to Cocotte! Love the food and quaintness in a residential neighborhood! Hidden Gem. Wine could've been colder or put into man ice bucket if offered and we had to ask for water when the water jug was empty, but other than that everything was wonderful! Definitely will come back!
