The menu has Basque influences. The space is below street level with approximately 28 seats. Staff is French speaking. Service is casual and at times indifferent in the Parisian style. Table spacing is very close in some locations, and about 12 seats are at hi-tops. Noise level is loud. The sound track is fairly loud house music. Under 40s will find it hip, tasty and a good value. Over 40s may find it too loud and amateurish.
Delicious food with friendly and attentive staff. Third or fourth time there and never disappoints.
Great dinner with great food and good service ! See you soon 👍
Small portions. Food was over-cooked. Nothing special . Poor value
Really let down by this experience. The space was way smaller than pictures could show. The food lacked flavor and overall just wasn’t what i thought it would be. Not sure how its so highly rated. Not a bad restaurant but id give it a 3.2/5 not sure how its a 4.7
Very friendly, culturally French wait staff that pleasantly worked with us when our guest ended up half an hour late. I had moules gratinees and Filet Mignon Rossini (Tournedos Rossini) topped with a piece of foie gras). Both were excellent. My wife had butternut squash soup and then an appetizer special of Pheasant Armagnac as her entree (the waiter had told us it made a nice lighter entree); she loved both. Our guest had only an entree--shrimp risotto--which he thought delicious. The menu is simple with a beef, chicken, pork, risotto, and market fish all reasonably priced PLUS the filet mignon as a special. It's French cuisine with a hint of Basque cooking (one of the appetizers is 'Txipirones" a squid dish I was not familiar with). The three of us shared two desserts (a tarte chocolat and a tarte citron). Everything was excellent and the atmosphere was "tres" convivial. We'll go back one of the next times we are in Soho.
Wonderful restaurant! Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Even a simple butternut squash soup was terrific. I would absolutely go here again and already recommended it to a friend. Very nice all around.
Très bon restaurant, bien situé, cosy.
Service très agréable! Mention spéciale pour la brune aux cheveux longs et le barman blond. Souriants, dynamiques et professionnels!
Very good place, cosy and delicious!
Amazing service, the blond bartender and the long brown hair waitress are smily and dynamics!
Cocotte is a warm & cozy spot - which makes the entire experience wonderful! Loved our evening there.
Food, Cocktails and service were great, but the menu is limited. Too light on the vegetarian options (all main entres [on the menu at least] have meat or fish. Even the lentils and mushrooms come with bacon or chorizo. I know it's French, but... its 2018.
TRULY GREAT FRANCO/SPANISH FOOD. FLAVORFUL! NICE SETTING, COSY, TRENDY, ADEQUATE NOISE LEVEL.
Service was excellent, but food was just a touch under salted and drinks were lacking in creativity.
I finally found my "place to be" restaurant in Soho.
Amazing food with excellent product sourcing.
This Basque/French restaurant is a must for foodies.
I will be back soon.
Fantastic food and service! Only downside is that the restaurant is very small and therefore seating is 'intimate'. We were unable to converse easily and hear each other across our table ( which wasn't large) once a rather loud group of four sat one side and two tables down another group of four were talking together.
Cocotte never disappoints!!! Amazing food, friendly staff, great atmosphere....
We'll be back!
An amazing dinner, felt back like in France . Amazing food, really amazing and affordable. When i say amazing, I talk about the quality of the product and the way they are cook as it's not that easy to find in New York.
Staff is all French but so nice, take such a good care of you and make sure everything is going well.
Living is USA for 20 years and in NYC for 5 years I am really impress. We will be back and recommand your place
The staff were warm and their recommendations were spot on. We enjoyed every bite and every sip. The chef specials were divine.
Love this charming restaurant - always good -
This cozy gem of a restaurant is small without feeling crowded. The service was friendly and attentive, both tableside and at the bar. Every dish was rich and flavorful without being heavy or making one feel like arteries might be clogging or pounds being gained. Chocolate lovers: the chocolate tart dessert is a must! Our overall dining experience was delightful, and we'll soon be back.
This was my second time coming here for breakfast, and while the food is always fantastic, the waitstaff and host (front door gentleman) are always so personable, friendly and really make me want to return. He even convinced me that I’m missing out until I’ve had the dinner there, so I’ve already booked my return for dinner!
Great from start to finish. We were early for our reservation and the host kept us posted by the minute when our table would be ready. The restaurant is tiny, but we didn't feel cramped at our table. All of the food was delicious, especially the appetizer specials and the charcuterie plates which were great for sharing. Main courses were presented beautifully, the pork was amazing and the fish special was great. The lemon tart was one of the best, and definitely order the pain perdu if they have it. Will absolutely visit again. Highly recommended!
Had better experiences in the past. Was not as impressed this visit, with both food and service.
The food here is amazing and the service is perfect. But overall this is a very special experience. Every time we’re going there we have some very unique dishes-txipirones, pipperade, chicken crapudin- not sure if you can find something similar in nyc. We’ll be back soon!
Perfect spot for our late dinner after plane trip from CA. Delicious mussels prepared as though they were escargot, with butter, bread crumbs, garlic. The special was pheasant with wild mushrooms. It was gorgeous, served on a slice of grilled bread. Nice wine selection. NOISY! but fun.
This a solid, consistent restaurant. No gimmicks, not trying too hard, just really good. I wish there were more restaurants like this, unpretentious because they have nothing to prove. The food is excellent and you can see everyone is enjoying themselves.
Loud, but great energy, combined with delicious food and warm, friendly service made for a great evening.
X-Mas diner was great!!
Great food, delicious cooking, great service, nice ambiance, small but cosy, the perfect spot in Soho to impress.
I happened to see this restaurant listed when searching for an anniversary spot, and we were beyond pleasantly surprised on how great the overall experience was for our dinner! The food was very, very good. And, the reasonable prices added to the rareness of this gem of a small restaurant.
BEST PAIN PERDU I EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!
Great pre - Christmas dinner, we good holidays mood in the well decorated restaurant. Amazing faisan starter and chicken with morilles imported from France.
We are Very happy from this place, thanks to the staff and merry Christmas all.
Dined at the bar and the staff was phenomenal, very accommodating, kind, was able to explain wine and the menu. Will absolutely return. A true Gem!
How did I missed this gem for years. Cozy atmosphere. Amazing food. We sat at the bar and it was such a good choice as the bartender was particularly nice and attentive. We’ll be back very soon
Rich and delicious food with very friendly service
Such a great experience! And their specials were to die for. I had the bay scallops then the basque piperade and the pheasant toast which is apparently inspired by the chefs grandmother. Let me tell you I’m normally not an adventurous diner but this pheasant on a toast might have been the best thing I’ve ever had my I entier life. Finished off with the chocolate tart.... We’ll definitely be back!!!!
Only reason I would go back is the food. Made a reservation far in advance only to be seated at a bar on communal high top with another group, even though there was no one seated in the dining room. When they left, we had to get up for the other group to exit the restaurant, as we were seated so close to the door that the handle hit our table every time it opened. We were helped by three different people, no one with a care in the world as to how we were enjoying ourselves. We were then asked to move to another table half way through our main course because they needed to seat a larger group. It was clear that our server only paid attention to the larger groups that were buying full bottles of wine and ordering larger amounts of food. While food got taken the second it was gone, we had to ask for the check after quite some time. We handed out waitress our coat check tab and she never came back with our coats. We then had to ask someone else as she didn’t remember the ticket number. Food was great. Service not so good. Also. It is VERY small. Plan accordingly.
Amazing Brunch! Loved the piperada special and my all time favourite french toast. The best in the city!!!!
What a wonderful little gem. Amazing food, great ambiance, very attentive waiters...
We'll definitly be back!
Very nice and cozy dinner. Amazing food and very warm service. Very glad we found this little gem 💎
amazing hospitality service food and wine- one of the best things to happen to us locals in Soho!
