Excellent service and food!
My husband and I went here before a show at the Schuster. I read the reviews and it was mixed. Some people loved it and some got bad service. We had a good experience. Food was delicious and brought out quickly. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. We went at 6:00 so it was not busy yet but there was still plenty of people in the restaurant and got busier as the evening went on. It didn’t feel crowded or loud. Overall we had a good experience and we would go back again.
I have eaten at Coco's many times over the years and have never been disappointed. The food and drinks are superb and the service is exceptional.
Just have not been impressed with the lackluster wait service, and strongly feel that while the food is fairly good (though the lobster fritters ar mostly fried dough) I think it’s overpriced for the portions compared to other quality restaurants in the area. We’ve decided this is a “gift card only” location for us.
We had a great meal at Coco's. Staff were crazy busy but attentive. They obviously care about the client and take pride in their food quality anld presentation.
We were warmly welcomed and seated promptly. Our waiter gave us the appropriate amount of space and attention, and our meals were delicious. Our lunch business meeting could not have been better!
The bartender made a delicious “mocktail”
The service was very attentive and aware of the theatre and ballet guests.
As always Coco's offers top shelf: food, drinks, and service in an atmosphere that is pleasant and easy to enjoy. The food from appetizers to dessert is always very good. Our server, Jason, takes special care of his guests. Thanks to Karen and all her staff for a wonderful evening.
Great pre-show meal - I had the trout and it was AMAZING, my friend had the spinach salad and it was good also. Fantastic server!! She was very considerate of our needing to get out in time to see our show. A+
We eat here a lot. I would love to give them a better review but they’re inconsistent. At times, awesome. But the inconsistency keeps us from wanting to take the risk. Food was great this time. Service was acceptable to a little below acceptable. Very friendly though. Has the potential to be one of the best in dayton.
Absolutely delicious meal. I had the trout and it was cooked to perfection. The signature cocktail was good, but a little pricey at $11. Service was not too good for a restaurant of this quality. The dining room was busy, so I know the waitress was overwhelmed. She only stopped by once during our dinner and we had to ask for coffee, and then flag her down again for the dessert menu. Overall, a good experience, but better service would have made it a home run.
First time at Coco's, it was wonderful! We ordered the pork chop and filet and they were both delicious! The bread was super yummy, as was the Gouda Mac side. Great service as well.
I like what they are trying to do in the area. They are close to the university and you get quite the mix of people. Half of the Building is the restaurant with nice patios and the other half is the bar which is fantastic.
They actually have real bartenders that can craft nice cocktails over in the bar. Overall it’s a cool place. I think they can improve the ambience little bit more by dimming the lights and possibly adding more unique lighting elements. Other than that the staff is fantastic and friendly and the parking is pretty good for a place that can hold a lot of people. I highly recommend Coco’s
Very good experience
Went to a brunch for Stivers. Student music magnificent. Food wonderful. Do good. Eat well.
We attended a special Sunday brunch at Coco's which was a fund raiser for Stivers high school performing arts students. The brunch was delicious and the student string ensemble who played was very uplifting. The addition of a raffle for student multi media art objects was a great addition. so glad we could attend this fundraiser for a superb inner city high school
Dropped in on a whim on a Friday evening.. promptly seated and Coco's veteran server Steven was as good as ever that evening.. Best item on the menu is their Honey Hummus appetizer. Following that with 2 salads and we were good to go.. Wine + app + salads + tip = $78.
Get together before ud game. Nice as usual
Really enjoyed the atmosphere, food and of course the excellent waiter we had.
I have been going to Coco’s since it was on Wayne Ave. We love the food, flash fried fresh spinach found nowhere else outside NYC China Grill. Karen and Jim have created a special atmosphere for friends, good food and drink, and family gatherings here in the heart of Dayton. The support of Stivers High School and the showcasing of students art and music shows how they put their efforts toward a better DaytonCommunity. Thank you both!
Jason is the best server! Food was good too.
My Girlfriend and I went to CoCo's to celebrate a belated Valentine's Day dinner. I would recommend making a reservation, the place was packed! Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and on top of it. Before ordering he took the time to check with the kitchen how many specials were left for the night (one was remaining, the table next to us ordered it and it looked fantastic!) Our server also had a good deal of knowledge about their wine list and was able to recommend a nice blend to go with my entree.
We started the meal with cocktails, which were fantastic. Afterwards, we ordered the fried Brie appetizer. It was as decadent as it sounds, and the bruchetta topping was the real star of the dish.
Be sure to enjoy the butter that comes with the bread: it is made in house and had a great subtle sweetness.
For entrees, my girlfriend ordered the filet and I ordered the duck. The duck was cooked to medium rare and was served alongside a roasted poblano risotto, which was perfectly seasoned and had a deep chile pepper flavor. The filet was a magnificent 3" cut of beef, cooked perfectly by the kitchen.
We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere so much, we will definitely be back and recommend CoCo's to anyone looking for a great meal in Dayton!
My daughter and I go to the restaurant to have dinner prior to our Schuster Broadway Series. We have done this frequently. The last four times we have found the food just OK. Prior to this I have raved and recommended to others. I was very disappoint with the filet ordered and the salad. The wind was fine. The service adequate but the server appeared rushed and hurried. I'm going to wait awhile before I return and If nothing has changed I will not be back.
Coco’s delivers again. Wanted a special place for dinner before the theatre, and they were a great choice. Food was outstanding and ambiance was just what we were looking for.
Fantasmo! Eat here.
Coco's is my go to place for showing out of town folks that Dayton does have good cuisine options. I'm never disappointed here. Thank you!
We went for Valentines Day because we love to try new places. The food was very good, Adam was our waiter and he was very attentive. I was disappointed that they had run out of Trout, the main seafood entree. Our reservation was at 6:45 so it was not late in the evening. Being a pretty big holiday dining night, I would have thought they would have been more prepared to serve one of the main courses for the entire evening. I ordered something else sort of off the cuff and it was very good but not what I was looking forward to for dinner. The lobster cakes and my signature drink were excellent and we will dine there again.
This was a disappointing meal. My wife and I had heard many great comment about this place so we went to see if was indeed a great restaurant.
Started with waiting for 5 minutes before a hostess noticed us. Then we were invited to wait. Then the hostess ask us and a later arriving party “who wants to go first”? Should’ve realized the A team was not working that day.
The good. Fresh, unique, and nicely prepared. Tomato bisque, spinach salad, fried spinach. Very enjoyable. Should have stopped there.
The bad. Hamburger and fries. Bistro is French, right? The quality of the fries doesn’t match up to McDonalds. The first batch was luke warm the second batch was warm. But it didn’t matter they are just a below average bag a fries from a food service no doubt. The burger was lean and tough.
The ugly. The waiter had multiple tables. One of which had 9 people. We pleaded for drink refills and eventually got them. Waiter was nice enough but harried. None of the numerous not busy people seems to have a care in the world.
There was enough good food that we will try it for dinner. But with a jaundiced eye towards quality and service. Maybe lunch isn’t their thing.
Wife and I went there for Valentine's Day dinner. First time there. You don't have to make reservations, but luckily I did. Otherwise, we definitely wouldn't have gotten in for dinner that evening. Probably don't need reservations for lunch time meals or slower evenings, but definitely need reservations on special occasion evenings like Valentine's Day. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambiance, and service. Steve waited on us and did a fantastic job! All of the staff were very friendly and professional. Cost-wise it's a little more than we would normally spend on a meal; thus, a great place for a special occasion like a birthday or any other celebratory event. We had a great evening and I'm sure we'll return there again in the future. :-)
Great place for dates—special occasions—always tasty—great service
The food was tasted but I had the eggplant and think the portion was a little small. It took a long time to get our food and longer to get our checks.
Wonderful meal and service. I would recommend the Brie appetizer it was amazing!
Seated promptly at a two-top window table. Hot bread & side salads served before our main course. Both were delicious. We selected wines for our dinner from an expansive wine menu.
I ordered the Cider Lacquered Duck w/roasted problano risotto and fried apples. Delicious! Even though the restaurant was crowded, the atmosphere remained pleasant and we could enjoy table talk without raising our voices throughout our dinner.
We ended our dinner with fresh coffee and an evil Walnut Ball for two with vanilla bean ice cream, French burnt walnuts & hot fudge. (Not for the weak at heart).
We loved that our dinner servings were served in a "European manner" and we could enjoy each serving without feeling rushed and talk to each other pleasantly without background noise.
Very enjoyable experience.
Visiting Dayton from Arizona and stop at Coco's for a quick dinner. The service was great and food was fabulous. It was a great experience.
On this occasion we were there for a fund raising brunch. However I have frequented the restaurant several times fro lunch and dinner and have always had a great meal.
Always seem to have a great meal at Coco’s. Highly recommended.
Excellent but there was a cold draft. Only negative, food and service was excellent. We really enjoyed Coco's and plan to go back soon.
First time in about a year. Limited menu offerings. Quality down. Service so-so. There are too many other great restaurants in the area. Moving on.
Jason our server was awesome very attentive and knowledge about the menu. We had children with us, that seems to put some servers out. Not Jason he asked them questions and included them in the experience. The food was very good and the wait was minimal.
Good food, good service, good value. Portions are very generous. Good for business lunch.
