What a great experience! Josh was fantastic as bartender and waiter. Had many recommendations and very quick service! Definitely listen to his suggestions such as the tuna tarte and other apps. Would not suggest the shrimp (but he did not either!). Yet the coconut rice is FABULOUS! Was such a wonderful surprise as we had tried a near by restaurant the week before and were not impressed. Highly suggest this place… great ambience too!

We found this spot and we are so surprised more people don’t know about it! We are locals and it was very nice to have the “vacation feeling” while also not being to busy/commercialized. Our server was amazing and so was the food!

The food was excellent, but the entrees were delivered about 60 seconds after our apps and had to go back to the kitchen. There wasn't even room on the table at that time. We overheard at the next table that there were daily specials which our server neglected to tell us about. I honestly would have ordered one of them. As we finished our entree, the bill was dropped on the table without asking us about coffee or dessert. We felt rushed even though there were several empty tables and no one waiting.

The server Tony was really nice and informative on the menu. The Brussel sprout appetizer and their version of bruschetta were really really good. We ordered the short ribs and they were fantastic. This is a really good spot.

I normally don't write poor reviews but this one I can't let go. My husband and I tried the restaurant on two evenings during our short stay in St Pete. The first night we had reservations but asked about the venue on the water. We were told that they didn't take reservations there and seating was open on a first come/first serve basis with no mention about the limited menu. We decided to check it out. Bar food and drinks with live music. Not what we expected ,but the fish taco were very good and the service was friendly. Our last night in St.Pete, Thursday March 23, I choose to give the restaurant another chance. Mistake on my part. We were seated in the bar area under a row of powerful fans. It was quite cool and my husband asked if there was another table we could sit at. The hostess did offer to turn off the fans but I didn't want to inconvenience other diners. She sat us in the back dinning room where there was a large party of 10-12 extremely loud, obnoxious and clearly drunk men. Obviously the restaurant made money off the large party but at the expense of other diners and your friendly staff. It was unbearable! I wish the hostess had warned us about the noise level and their foul language before seating us. Our food was mediocre at best. My husband had the seafood curry, too small of a portion for him and not hot. I ordered the 72hr. Short ribs, which I doubt were cooked for 7hrs. The meat was tough, fat not rendered out of the beef and had to be cut with a knife and fork. Our waitress was very apologetic and attentive. Clearly a tough night for the staff and us. I wish the manager on duty stepped up and politely said something to the "gentlemen" . Sadly I can not recommend Coconut Charlie's Grill.

The staff was wonderful! Service was perfectly executed and super friendly. We really enjoyed our wine and all food that we ordered. Also, the decor was beautifully coastal and although we are locals, it felt like we were on vacation. Thank you for a great evening!

On vacation we decided to eat at Coconut Charlie’s located in the resort next to ours. Food was fine a little over priced for what we ordered. Steak skewers for an appetizer and chicken fettuccine for dinner. I felt like the onions were a bit much and the chicken fettuccine and I love onions. Our server was very nice but another server stopped by to check on us and, we started chatting she had great customer service.

Our waitress Stephanie was terrific. She knew the menu and was able to answer all our questions and address all allergy concerns. She was attentive, kept our water glasses filled and checked in on us regularly. The food was very tasty. The calamari, shrimp and fish frito appetizer was delicious and enough for a table of 4 to share. All of our entrées were good. The salads are very large. However, the price for some of the entrées were a little high for the size of the portions. Overall it was a great dining experience.

The chowder soup was delicious. The wedge salad was huge. The appetizer Brussel sprouts were excellent! The coconut shrimp had very little rice and no sauce. The seafood curry was excellent as well as the pork chop and scallops. 4 people and 3 glasses of wine for a total of $211.00. A bit steep

Service was slow, waitress was nice and friendly but honestly I think she thought she was doing great. 10 minutes after ordering we were informed that one of the entrees we ordered was not available so my daughter ordered chicken Alfredo instead and when it was served the chicken was undercooked so back it went. Appetizer served, no plates. Two of us split an entree and one bowl was bought to the table, either split it up in the kitchen or come prepared to the table for both of us to eat. Seafood curry was good but only one spoon delivered for the two of us. Second beverage from the bar took forever to get and the bar wasn’t terribly busy. My watermelon mock tail was undrinkable, so it sat there after the three of us tried it and it was more sour than sucking on a straight lemon. No comment was given after we complained. It was a pricey meal which we’re ok with if the quality and service are there. It was not

The restaurant and the bar/beach grill are completely separate entities. I called to ask if I could order off menus at the restaurant and they said yes. That is false.
