Cocochan Ratings and Reviews
We had the most awful experience. We were sitting for nearly 15 mins before our order was taken. The drinks we ordered was just lying on the bar table for 10 mins before they were served to us. I will not go to this restaurant again nor I would recommend to any body. I had to ask them not to charge me the 12% discretionery charge
My third visit to Cocochan and maybe because it was a Monday evening and they also had a debutant chef the food wasn’t quite as good as on previous occasions. Nonetheless it was still very good and I will certainly return. The prawn spring rolls are really very good.
Food was good in the main, especially maki rolls and sashimi.
Service was patchy and rushed, until it came to paying the bill and I had to ask 3 times!
Ambience was good, although the music is too loud for easy conversation and we resorted to people watching the 'young & trendy' crowd!
NYE and I expected organised chaos....what we got was personal attention from not one but all members of staff...everyone was so friendly and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. The food was amazing....we just ordered a load of starters....the prawn spring rolls and the prawn dim sum were outstanding. The salmon carpaccio was superb. The espresso martini was one of the best I have ever had (and I have that everywhere)...there are no words to sum up how great the experience was...but they went out of their way on NYE to show me how they made the espresso martinis...that's how great the staff were...10 out of 10 experience...I will definitely be returning...
I was put off this restaurant a few years back by the awkward table and seating arrangement. It tainted my experience and I honestly couldn’t remember the actual food. The experience this time around was far more pleasant now than it was a few years back. The staff were great and I can say hands down Cocochan has the best green curry I’ve ever tasted. Wow. Great rice as well. Yes I’ll go back again. Great Tuna Sashimi as well.
A lot small than expected. I'm a slim sized UK8/10 and had problems squeezing between the tables to my chair. Quite crammed in the area we were seated.
Nice lighting and ambience for a date night.
The main dishes were disappointing and overpriced. Both the beef and lobster dishes were salty and lacked seasoning apart from black pepper and soy sauce.
Neither of us finished but took the rest home. I struggled to eat my leftovers the next day.
Also we were sent a "new menu" via email a day in advance after confirming my booking on the phone. When we arrived the menu on the the table was different. It turns out we were sent a really old menu for some reason.
The service wasn’t the best sometimes we had to ask multiple times for something to come to the table. The ambiance was so great for a restaurant that is more cheap at all I would expect to see cleanliness and luxury but most of the seats had ripped fabrics and the restaurant was looking great. I would not go to this restaurant again because I think it’s not worth the price you pay for the food. Overly expensive.
Disappointed by the food and the atmosphere, and above all by the service. The plates are not served at the same time which means that you watch your partner eating... or the other way round.
Besides everything is served in 45 minutes.
Maybe good for a quick dinner but not to spend a romantic evening.
I'd previously been to Cocochan with a friend for a dinner about four months ago and I quite enjoyed the ambiance and food, since then I returned for my second visit and the experience couldn't have been any more poor. I implore you, try another sushi place for dinner, London is full of them.
At the start of the evening I saw our waitress serving another table and noted that when that table left the waitress had a mini-tantrum in the middle of the restaurant as she kept saying "where are the guests for this table. where are they?" I had assumed they might have been cheeky diners who skipped the bill. Far from it.
Our mains took quite some time to come out, and as for desserts, well they never came. I had to remind staff members FOUR times that the desserts we ordered had not arrived. 30 MINUTES later, one of the desserts came & we were assured the others are straight behind. Take this now to a full 45 minutes later and the second set of dessert arrives, all with completely the wrong flavours. We complain to the manager who seems to imply that our dessert was sitting at someone else's table - not a hygienic thought to stomach. This promptly changes to a story that the other guests had eaten our dessert when it got taken to the wrong table entirely. He was apologetic. We tell him we've had quite enough of all this and we want to have the bill. He did not try to compensate us for losing 45 MINUTES of our own time thanks to incompetence of his staff. Instead I had to demand it, not a good customer service outlook. And guess what, no one comes back to our table with the bill.
So my guest and I get up, and I'm suddenly reminded of the other table who seemed to just disappear without paying and now I understand why. As we leave I walk over, pay the bill at their counter, receive some half baked apologies and leave.
Never will I ever recommend this restaurant to anyone I know. I sympathise with all those who go unknowingly to have a nice dinner at this place.
A new restaurant for me, thankfully suggested by a close friend. I had prawn rolls and seafood gyozas for starters and they were both superb. A main course of Kimchi lamb chops was also right on the money. Looking forward to a return visit in the near future.
Great service and good food, enjoyable evening. Nice hearty bottle of ale - 7.5% got the night off to a good start.
Sash was our very friendly waiter who explains the menu in great detail. Thank youx
Nice location to watch people walking past. Some great ambient music. Shazam was used a couple of times!
