Cocochan Ratings and Reviews
A lot small than expected. I'm a slim sized UK8/10 and had problems squeezing between the tables to my chair. Quite crammed in the area we were seated.
Nice lighting and ambience for a date night.
The main dishes were disappointing and overpriced. Both the beef and lobster dishes were salty and lacked seasoning apart from black pepper and soy sauce.
Neither of us finished but took the rest home. I struggled to eat my leftovers the next day.
Also we were sent a "new menu" via email a day in advance after confirming my booking on the phone. When we arrived the menu on the the table was different. It turns out we were sent a really old menu for some reason.
The service wasn’t the best sometimes we had to ask multiple times for something to come to the table. The ambiance was so great for a restaurant that is more cheap at all I would expect to see cleanliness and luxury but most of the seats had ripped fabrics and the restaurant was looking great. I would not go to this restaurant again because I think it’s not worth the price you pay for the food. Overly expensive.
Disappointed by the food and the atmosphere, and above all by the service. The plates are not served at the same time which means that you watch your partner eating... or the other way round.
Besides everything is served in 45 minutes.
Maybe good for a quick dinner but not to spend a romantic evening.
I'd previously been to Cocochan with a friend for a dinner about four months ago and I quite enjoyed the ambiance and food, since then I returned for my second visit and the experience couldn't have been any more poor. I implore you, try another sushi place for dinner, London is full of them.
At the start of the evening I saw our waitress serving another table and noted that when that table left the waitress had a mini-tantrum in the middle of the restaurant as she kept saying "where are the guests for this table. where are they?" I had assumed they might have been cheeky diners who skipped the bill. Far from it.
Our mains took quite some time to come out, and as for desserts, well they never came. I had to remind staff members FOUR times that the desserts we ordered had not arrived. 30 MINUTES later, one of the desserts came & we were assured the others are straight behind. Take this now to a full 45 minutes later and the second set of dessert arrives, all with completely the wrong flavours. We complain to the manager who seems to imply that our dessert was sitting at someone else's table - not a hygienic thought to stomach. This promptly changes to a story that the other guests had eaten our dessert when it got taken to the wrong table entirely. He was apologetic. We tell him we've had quite enough of all this and we want to have the bill. He did not try to compensate us for losing 45 MINUTES of our own time thanks to incompetence of his staff. Instead I had to demand it, not a good customer service outlook. And guess what, no one comes back to our table with the bill.
So my guest and I get up, and I'm suddenly reminded of the other table who seemed to just disappear without paying and now I understand why. As we leave I walk over, pay the bill at their counter, receive some half baked apologies and leave.
Never will I ever recommend this restaurant to anyone I know. I sympathise with all those who go unknowingly to have a nice dinner at this place.
A new restaurant for me, thankfully suggested by a close friend. I had prawn rolls and seafood gyozas for starters and they were both superb. A main course of Kimchi lamb chops was also right on the money. Looking forward to a return visit in the near future.
Great service and good food, enjoyable evening. Nice hearty bottle of ale - 7.5% got the night off to a good start.
Sash was our very friendly waiter who explains the menu in great detail. Thank youx
Nice location to watch people walking past. Some great ambient music. Shazam was used a couple of times!
This place was ridiculously expensive for what it was. It is a casual spot, no table cloths, no frills, somewhere you'd call into if you were shopping on Oxford Street. My friend and I racked up a £260 bill between the two of us. My friend wasn't drinking, I had 3 glasses of wine. A few salads, black cod, some sushi and dim sum to share. We were shocked and we won't be going back.
We love this restaurant although we don't manage to get there often. Went for our 5 year anniversary. The staff prepared little heart anniversary cards on our drinks which was sweet. The food was great especially the sushi, however the lamb red curry was poor which was disappointing. The lamb was very dry. It seemed to be cooked quickly and for too long rather than stewed for hours in a low heat which would have been much nicer. It's unusual for cocochan to serve up an inadequate dish though so we will forgive and try again!
Mid afternoon visit this week. Food was delicious as usual but I was disappointed at the small size of my cod but it was very tasty. Service was a bit slow and our wine was kept in a chiller away from the table which I thought was strange and we had to ask for our glasses to be refilled. All in all a lovely meal, but was expensive and not sure we would return.
