Our very favorite restaurant for more than 25 years, but Sunday we had a new waiter and the service was erratic and not in a proper order. Great grilled octopus appetizer was placed in the center of the table without new plates and while we were still eating our salads. Waiter was pushing the 1st bottle of wine too fast. I was going to order a 2nd but didn't appreciate his haste.
Still the best!
A friend recommended this restaurant for my visit to Chicago and I was not disappointed. Wonderful space, excellent cocktails and superior food. I really liked the antipasti. We started with 4 different appetizers and split an entree which gave us a chance to try several items on the menu. Very relaxing and the tables are spaced a fair distance from each other so each table felt very private. Loved the old building this restaurant is in. The huge old wood beams and floor made this restaurant feel very elegant and inviting.
We arrived one hour earlier than our reservation and the maitre’d was able to accommodate us. We had a lovely evening with an awesome waiter who didn’t rush us. The food was delicious, each course was cooked to perfection! We’ve dined here for many years and it never disappoints!
The antipasti platter was good, but seemed to be missing flavor. The veggies weren’t pickled enough for my liking. Balsamic drizzle did the trick, but I had to ask twice. Our server seemed to be a bit of a premadonna - the guy doing water service and another guy bussing tables were both talked down to by our server and that wasn’t appreciated. I ordered a half portion of ravioli and when I said I was thinking about adding a salad, our server took my menu out of my hands and said, “you won’t need the salad”... well, I wish I had gotten the salad. We’ve eaten here before and each time it’s just an “ok” experience. Convenient to the Mart.
We have been going to Coco Pazzo since 1992 when it was a trendy new arrival in Chicago. As we have aged so has the clientele. The food remains consistently good. We enjoyed a guasetto of mussels in
Awful. Good tasted dry and bland for being a higher end restaurant. My client even had oil splashed on him when the waiter dropped an ice cube in the oil dish. They did nothing to compensate us for that as well. All in all a truly awful experience and I won’t be going back
We've been eating here for 25 years. It's the closest to eating in Italy of any US Italian restaurant we've been to.
Fabulous food and service. Thank you!
Our first time to Coco Pazzo was a party of 7 to celebrate 2 birthdays. Ambiance was lovely and curtains took the noise. We were waited on by the kindest team who served from the right and women first. The food was both beautifully plated and delicious. Each dish had an unexpected delightful element or ingredient to demand sharing. We made the night last 3 hours and it was splendid for everyone. One said it was the best meal he's had in this country!
We LOVE this restaurant. We took my mom for the first time and she also loved it. We just can’t get enough of the exquisite cuisine and comfortable lux atmosphere.
Too pretentious for my taste. Prefer RPM or Trattoria 10 for Italian in Chicago.
We had a wonderful dining experience from start to finish!! We ordered the antipasto, Caesar salad, and a small plate of linguine with meat sauce. Then the waiter accommodated us by facilitating our entree choices for splitting a few pasta dishes and the tuscan fish stew... He wanted to make sure we were delighted!! My husband got the chicken entree and said it was the best chicken he had ever had....a very high compliment!! Highly recommend to anyone and we had been in Italy this summer!!
This place was wonderful. All the staff were so attentive. Pricing was reasonable. I would highly recommend.
Hadn’t been to Cocco Pazzo for years. Still great food and excellent service. It’s clear that there are locals who go there. Also a relatively quiet atmosphere, which is hard to find these days.
One of our favorite restaurants. Both service and food always top notch!
We went for dinner and had the cinghiale, risotto special and saltimbocca. All were delicious. It was slow the night we were there and the staff was attentive but not hovering. Service was excellent.
Our out of town clients requested Italian, and we absolutely enjoyed every bite of Coco Pazzo's
deliciousness. From the shared antipasto platter, the best ever homemade breadstick/bread basket, to the homemade pasta dishes and desserts, this restaurant is a gem. Wonderful service and environment!
We were surprised to be treated with 2 complimentary dishes from the chef in addition to the meal we ordered. Service was impeccable. You felt like their family. Don't miss out on the pappardelle with wild boar.
The restaurant called and said they had no dining room seating for us 3 hours before our res. They made it seem like it was a huge inconvenience and I had to call a second time before they said they could accommodate us. They were trying to say we could sit at the bar, but there wasn’t a table for us. When we arrived, we ended up getting a table and there was only 50% capacity and it remained that way throughout our meal. Food was only fair but had a good wine and the company was good.
Octopus was amazing
My only issue is that it took a very long time to get our pasta.
But the food was outstanding. I would go back.....and will go back. Pasta was exceptional. Bread was exceptional too.
First time there but it won’t be our last , the staff was welcoming and attentive. The food was excellent best Italian out of Italy I have ever had . We started with zucchini flowers stuffed with buratto and grilled octopus, fabulous , then followed with pasta and wild boar and spring pea and cheese ravioli . My husband out ordered me with that wild boar so good . The chef even came out to greet us after they told him we were going to Italy in three weeks . We will definitely be going there again
Always great food, put the antipasto as a must on your list. Very casual pace, quiet, good service.
Very nice evening!!
Service and food made for a very enjoyable evening
Good food, but service was incredibly slow.
Absolutely amazing food. One of the best restaurants my wife and I have been to in Chicago.
I have been visiting Chicago for over 20 years and always try to make sure I have at least one dinner at Coco Pazzo. It never disappoints! Food, service, ambience - all are exceptional. The staff seem to really enjoy working there, and many have been working there for several years. When I know someone who is planning a trip to Chicago, I always recommend Coco Pazzo to them!
Return visit for dinner and was not disappointed. Delicious food, wonderful wine and careful, attentive service. Appreciated the special attention paid to my young dining companion. Looking forward to next time.
Ambience was very nice; but food was just ok. There are too many other good restaurants around to not have at least good food.
Great meals as always. Been going here for 25 years and have never been disappointed. Bronzino was perfect.
We loved everything especially the octopus , it was the most tender butter like octopus I ever had. The pasta was ala dente just like its suppose to be.
The service was great and the waitress was sincere and friendly. The only thing I was not happy with was . I called ahead that day and spoke to the gentleman host and asked him to add on the bill a tiramisu since it’s my Moms birthday along with s candle , he said no problem I see it’s a birthday dinner. When it was dessert time the waitress had no clue and I even ordered the tiramisu giving a hint and looked at her like hellllo it’s a birthday. When she served it with no candle or anything. I started singing. Happy birthday then she looked like oh no forgetting. With such attention detail and paying premium prices you would expect it to go flawless. Wasn’t full either
We have not been to Coco Pazzo for some time and it was a real pleasure to find that it continues to be excellent in terms of food, service and ambience. Coco Pazzo is a gem that just keeps getting better. We couldn’t have asked for a better meal!
Everyone in our party enjoyed the food a great deal. We were hoping for an evening of conversation and good food and got both. The sound level in the restaurant is very low, making it perfect for conversing.
Everything was great! Every course was perfect and the cocktails and recommended wines paired perfectly with the meal. Staff was amazing, attentive, but not overbearing, and very friendly. The food was incredible!!
Not being from the area I took a gamble on this resturant based on other reviews I've read. The food is nothing special I ordered as a appitizer the Penne all’Arrabbiata (which came at the same time as the main course). This is a simple spicy pasta dish. There was nothing spicy about this dish! For our main course we had the the brick chicken which was dried out. The highlight if there was one was the ceaser salad which they make at your table, also nothing special. With all the great resturants in the area and having only a limited number of nights to enjoy the food, I was disappointed in myself for selecting this place.
Great food and atmosphere with delicious appetizers and entres.
Service was very good. Food was better than I thought it was going to be. I would go back if we come back to that area to eat.
This was, by far, the BEST experience I've ever had at a restaurant. This was a 50th Birthday celebration. The food was perfect. The atmosphere was chic and energetic while being very romantic at the same time. The owner and manager were both present. The entire staff showed great pride and respect for their craft. Sergio made the night complete! This will now be a MUST everytime I return to Chicago. Well Done!
The restaurant was inviting, and the food and ambiance fantastic. We brought two guests from out of town, and they were both very pleased. We will definitely return
