Coco Pazzo Ratings and Reviews
Coco Pazzo never disappoints. I have been dining here both with clients and close friends for years; and the food just gets better and better. The staff is outstanding and the ambience is superb. It's great for a discreet business lunch or a celebratory dinner with foodies and close friends.
CoCo Pazzo is my favorite Chicago restaurant. It has a classic “big city” ambience and reliably wonderful food. I have been a regular customer for 20 years and have sampled a variety of dishes from the fresh pastas to the wonderful meat and fish entrees . Coco Pazzo is my go to place for any celebration or any time I want a special meal.
This is a wonderful, old-school type, restaurant. We were here for our anniversary (and post-Hamilton) dinner. The octopus appetizer is delicious. Nice house salad. I had a special, house made cavatappi with clams and hub had the short ribs with polenta. They were both fantastic. The pecan pie dessert was good, but not really my thing. Great wine list. Our only complaint was the initial timing of our food was too fast. We would have liked to have enjoyed our cocktails and app a little more leisurely. But, it’s a great place.
We dine at Coco Pazzo at least a couple times per year before the opera. We also take business clients here. Even those who have Italian heritage say it is some of the best, most authentic food, they have ever had at a restaurant. It truly is one of our favorite places to dine in Chicago.
We really enjoyed our meal during restaurant week at Coco Pazzo. I had the short ribs and my friends had the cod. The soups and salads were really good as was the dessert. I had the panna cotta and my husband loved the flourless chocolate cake. All was very good and the service was great!
The restaurant felt cold, no ambiance music, felt like a library not a good vibe for a Saturday night for friends to gather who hadn't seen each other in months. Picked it from the Restaurant Week recommendation. We left as the salad was bland, took a while to get drinks. ...we went to another restaurant. The staff was great!
We took a business associate here who was visiting for a few days and the service and fare couldn’t have been better. The chef came to our table and explained a few of the dishes we were interested in and made recommendations of his own and informed us of the various locations of Italy where some ingredients came from. The management and service staff made sure we were always taken care of and had everything we needed. The food was extremely good with obvious authenticity. The pasta was cooked perfect al dente. Great experience!
Beautiful decor and dining area with top-notch customer service from the front of the house to the servers. The food was excellent and thoughtfully prepared. Highlights included creamy, delicious polenta, fresh, flavorful cod, perfectly prepared, flavorful braised short rib, and wonderful panna cotta. The wine list is expansive and they also make excellent cocktails. The chef here, Chef Commachio, is truly exceptional.
The restaurant is lovely and the service was fine - not great. Perhaps because it was packed as it was Restaurant Week. We had to wait for long between courses, the waiter brought me soup without a spoon, resulting in more wait. What was most disappointing, however, was our entrees (restaurant week menu picks). The cod was salty and the sauce with the beef short ribs was too thick and bland.
Given the reputation of this place we will go one more to try dishes on the regular memu but we were looking for a "wow" experience and came away underwhelmed.
This restaurant has no regard for food allergies. I not only told them when I made the reservation but mentioned it to the waiter right away. We waited 45 min for our food and when it came I was given food with the item I am allergic to, only for me to uncover it myself and send it back. Then had to wait another 20 more min to get a dish with no sauce or flavor. They didn’t care either and tried to hurry us up to get us out of the restaurant. Very disappointing.
Basically the food was ok. I had a veal dish, and the veal was tough. My daughter did love her gnocchi. They mad me a ceasar even though it wasn’t on the menu. The wine pretty good, but not worth 22 dollars a glass. If this was a 75 dollar meal,I would give it 5 stars , it was 175. Just my daughter and I. For the price I can not recommend this place. It was mostly empty. We arrived at 5:30 on a Friday and left at 7. Tons of empty tables. This was my experience.
Coco Pazzo is one of those rare restaurants that remains at the top of its game year after year. The branzino is always a great bet. The vegetables in any dish are delicious. (The only item I’d skip is the bread, although my husband loves the breadsticks for some reason.)
Superb Italian cuisine. Excellent wine selection. Elegant setting, attentive waitstaff. List of options not huge, but more than adequate, and will accommodate gluten-free eaters (who loose big not having excellent ciabatta, or squid ink pasta.) Pricy, but worth it. On the small list of authentic Italian spots (Spacca Napoli, Riccardo Trattoria, Piccolo Sogno) that I go to, more old-fashionadly elegant than those. Spiaggia is even fancier, but even pricier...
Service was fantastic, food was mediocre. Ordered steak medium, and it arrived well done. Pappardelle had a great texture, but sauce was nothing to write home about. Lastly, at most Italian restaurants, a basket of bread is brought to the table along with olive oil. Here, a server brings around a big basket of bread and asks you which of 4 types of bread you want, gives each person a single piece (literally) and then pours oil for you. If you want another piece of bread you have to flag that person down. Will not be returning.
Our NYE dinner for three family members was defined by delicious courses prepared with fresh ingredients and beautiful sauces. Excellent food, as we were told by friends. Superb presentation, precision and craft everywhere around us. The single and obvious failing was our inexperienced waiter, who was inattentive to bread requests, wine refills, and whether or not our meals were satisfactory. Lavish attention given to larger more extravagant groups nearby, while our trio was left to fend for ourselves. He recommended a delicious wine, then was gone from the scene for 15 minutes. Opening and serving of wine fell to a waiter from another table. Who was that? We will surely return for the fine food and the chef, believing the rest of the waiters are top notch.
Whole environment was incredible. Place was a little cold, but understandingly— it was 3 degrees that night. While we were there to celebrate my girlfriends birthday, and they treated us accordingly, I feel like we would have received the same experience had it been a casual meal. Well done!
