This used to be our favorite restaurant, they never missed a beat...except for last time. Because we’ve had so many great meals there, we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
The food is always excellent at Coco Pazzo. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable when they are asked questions. You really can’t miss here. They menu has a lighter touch than many Italian restaurants but very delicious and there is always plenty to eat. It’s good for small or large appetites.
Excellent food, outstanding service, true dining!
As we expected we had an excellent birthday celebration and a wonderful evening in this conversation friendly restaurant.
This place is overpriced for the quality of food. We ordered two pasta dishes, the linguine did not taste handmade at all. Everything needed salt and pepper and was not tasty.
Good not great...for the price expect more. Have been before and was very good...this time pasta was a bit over cooked and fish was a bit bland. Also they sat us at a table near the door and got a burst of cold air every few minutes...there were other tables open but we didn’t realize till we sat down and didn’t change...I think they should know better though.
Multiple staff, moving about the restaurant and no one seating parties. There was a significant delay with the movement of appetizers, entree and dessert. Staff member made a “big deal” when a “regular” or “important” patron didn’t get his plate removed promptly. Therefore, she picked it up and held it, while calling out to dining room attendant. This action was unnecessary and looked foolish. The manager did his walk through and visited various tables, while the elderly father shuffled alongside tables. Very distracting, and should allow “his son” ? to take care of customers and perform his duties. This is very common with Italian dining, whereas the father, retired but won’t let go, and allow the next generation to run the operation.
Great menu with delicious choices. Great food preparation.
Waited 10 minutes to be seated. Prices too expensive for quality.
Everything was awesome! The staff, the food and the ambience were all fantastic!
Every bite of our meal was great - again! I've been coming here for over 17 years, and this place never disappoints. The flourless chocolate cake is the best around. Perfect ambiance - not fussy, not noisy, just comfortable. Service was friendly, helpful, meal was perfectly paced. Ideal anniversary dinner.
Our food was terrible and service was insanely slow. We waited 30 minutes from our salad to the main course. Dinner took almost two hours. Overall horrible experience.
Delicious food, excellent wine, best service in the neighborhood! We had an absolutely fabulous time at Coco Pazzo. It's my favorite restaurant!
Very disappointing New Year's Eve meal. Evidently lots of people feel this way as the place was deserted by 11:00 and not that crowded before either. Portions were small. Food was bland and unimaginative. Service was lacking except when recommending the most expensive dishes on the menu. Don't they know we see right through that tactic!! This used to be our go-to place for NYE. No more:(
New Year's Eve was a special celebration here with good food, excellent wine, and discrete service. They were helpful with my friend's lactose intolerance, guiding her through the menu. Another guest didn't eat seafood--there was plenty to choose. This leisurely evening was great overall.
We love this restaurant! Nice to find an Italian restaurant that is northern ITALIAN. Sometimes we eat at the bar. Great service!
The restaurant has great ambiance. The noise level is perfect. However the food fell a bit flat in my opinion. I had the pork chop Milanese and it was ok. My husband had the brick chicken and said it was so so. Just lacked a bit of flavor overall.
I would not return nor recommend Coco Pazzo due to poor service by host and server including outright rude behavior by our server. The service was extremely slow (over 2.5 hours) and the food was ok and nothing special. Portions were small for price. I highly recommend you book elsewhere for Italian food in Chicago. I've had many a good experience at the sister restaurant Coco Pazzo Cafe, but am wondering if I'll return there either.
Busy Christmas Eve dinner; food was excellent -- a good menu, well-executed. Seemed a bit understaffed for the occasion, though. I didn't appreciate having to wait at the bar for fifteen minutes when we arrived precisely at the time of our reservation.
Holiday family time down town.
Our waitress was very engaging. We love the comfortable atmosphere.
We had a pre-Christmas family gathering of 6 and enjoyed the meal a great deal. The one thing that was disappointing was the rather snooty attitude of our waiter. He did a greet job but the attitude wasn’t a plus.
My favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago! The squid ink pasta is excellent!
Excellent food , the Wayne gave us great service and explained all the options. Had an interesting specials list. Timing of service was spot on Will go back again!
Pre- ballet dinner served by Angelica. She was so down to earth and helpful. We had such a relaxed and special time. Food was amazing and the atmosphere made for easy conversation. Complimentary app and truffles with coffee. Really lovely time with my daughter. We will be back soon!
Perfect. Service was flawless and personal, from seating to the end. Food was delicious and creatively prepared. I'll be back soon with others.
Great place for a nice but not too expensive business lunch. Excellent Caesar salad made tableside, and a delicious grilled salmon with roasted vegetables and pesto sauce. Nice to be able to converse without shouting and not have tv screens all over. Service was very good but not intrusive. Will definitely come back.
Great service and food! The staff was respectful of our business discussions but kept things moving at our pace. Thank you!
The Italian food never disappoints, and service is excellent. However, as with many restaurants, I found the wine list to be overpriced, and underwhelming. Recommendation by the Somm was disappointing. Wine excepted, the cuisine is always superb.
We travel to Chicago every Christmas season and this is one our favorite places for dinner in the city!
The waitstaff was okay, but not super friendly i think when you’re paying this much for food everyone should be very friendly and happy, it was just dull. The food was good but wasn’t as amazing as all the reviews and everything I expected it to be over the top. Little disappointed probably wouldn’t go back.
The restaurant was crowed but not over crowded. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated and another 10 minutes to see our waiter. Service was VERY slow and we waited at least 15 minutes to order drinks and another 15 to order food. The waiter admitted that they were short a bartender and a wait staff member, and this was a Saturday night. The food was not good enough to warrant the rest of the down sides.
Great food and experience. Highly recommend
This is one of the finest, most charming dining experiences in Chicago. It is an absolute pleasure to step into Coco Pazzo!
This was one of our favorite restaurants when we lived in Chicago. We were back in town for the weekend and thought we would try it again. What a disappointment! The food was very good, just like we remembered it, but the service was horrible. We only saw our waiter when he took our order and when he delivered our bill. Never stopped by to see how the food was, and we had to flag down other waiters just to get wine with dinner. We won't go back. When you pay these prices you expect the food and the service to be excellent. This clearly wasn't.
This is my all-time favorite Chicago Italian restaurant. Beautiful spot on the corner with big windows. Elegant, tasteful, exceptional menu and preparation.
Absolutely perfect experience! My wife described her wine preference because they didn’t have her go to wine & the recommendation was spot on! Will definitely go back the next time we visit Chicago!!!
We had a reservation and arrived a bit early. The host directed us to wait in the bar area, but the bar area was jammed. We ended up in the way of the servers, and it was very uncomfortable. Not sure why they would direct us to the bar area when it was completely over crowded already. Huge open room is not very cozy or doesn't allow for much Ambience at all. Would prefer a slightly smaller set up. Food was good but nothing special.
2 of my guests ordered the Risotto this particular evening as it was the special. It was perfectly horrible! My guests did not feel comfortable sending it back but now in retrospect I should’ve spoken to the server and sent it back.
I always enjoy visiting when in Chicago. This trip was w friends who had never been to Coco Pazzo.
Not a good experience this time.
The restaurant is a beautiful cozy room - elegant but comfortable. The wait staff was so experienced it was a joy. It’s a bit pricey for what you get. Gnudi was light and airy, beautifully presented but I would have left hungry without broccolinni and bread.
Coco Pazzo was recommended by a friend. I was looking for a restaurant for my mom to meet my boyfriend for the first time. The evening started out well but as the restuarant became full the ambiance became distracting. Unfortunately, our table was near a serving station, ruining the ambiance as servers were constantly putting away silverware or going back and forth for water. Just before we were about to leave a server almost wacked my mom in the head with his elbow. Thankfully she ducked just in time.
If you are fortunate enough to have better seating, the place is very nice. The pasta was delicious but I would not recommend the mozzarella appetizer. It was too basic for $16. I wish we had tried something else. I might give the place another try as long as I dont have to sit by a server station.
The service on this visit was not up to the usual standards, rather slow, but the food and atmosphere were top notch as always. A very comfortable and classy place for lunch.
