The food was very good, but the portions were somewhat small for the price.
Great food but the service is very poor. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all and we had long wait times for chips and salsa, for our main course and just a lack of service from the staff.
Excellent location. Attentive servers. Delicious food!
Not please with the meal
Not a typical Mexican restaurant experience.
The staff was great and worked hard but the meal itself was not what we anticipated
3 people and the cost was extremely expensive. Much better value at local Mexican restaurants. Sorry 🙁
Reasonably good food. We had a mix of taco's and they were all ok. Main issue was service - it must have taken 20 mins for our server to come and take our drinks order. The service from ordering food to be served was fast - getting a drink post-meal was impossible. Probably wouldn't return the food wasnt good enough to put up with service. The place wasn't busy either.
Noise was a slight problem. However the host did turn it down a notch for us!
The food selection is weak and the prices are high. The food quality is very good/excellent. Pricing should be adjusted.
Went during the Danville Car Show, got a great spot in the back patio...great food.
The server Madison was excellent!
Good menu, food very good, especially enjoyed the churros for dessert which were not too sweet. Waiter was friendly and good natured as he returned a few times to see if we were ready to order. Will definitely come back. Outdoor patio in back small but inviting.
Great spot for a quick, tasty bite...outdoor tables are nice.
I was encouraged about Cocina Hermanas after it opened but like many restaurants, the quality and service has done nothing but decline since opening. We will not be going back.
We made reservations for the patio area as I enjoy outdoor dining when the weather is nice. We didn’t have to wait once we arrived and the patio space is nice. The ambiance was relaxed and servers were very friendly. We had the guacamole and chips and salsa which was delicious and then had the ceviche as a starter. Ceviche was a little bland. We had tortilla soup and enchiladas as well, both delicious. I expected to have food that wasn’t authentic but as long as flavors are there. Prices are like most Danville restaurants, a little higher. Good location right in downtown, will be back
This restaurant is located in a great little spot on the corner of Church and Hartz Ave. I wanted to love it. I did not. Going back to Maria Maria.
Food was good but overpriced for Mexican food they charged $8 for guacamole that was probably a dollars worth of avocado. Not sure I would go back . Outside seating was nice.
Love it! This was our 2nd time coming here and tried other dishes. Super yummy enchiladas and tacos! Also the margaritas!
We got our cheese dip and they forgot to bring the chips. It only took them an additional 10 minutes for the chips. Food was at best average. We would not go back v
My wife and I went on a day when this had just been reviewed in the East Bay Times. Maybe it was overloaded and that caused the problems we experienced.
We had two items - Ensalada De Lechuga Mixta (we shared) and Carne Asada tacos (an order each). The salad was, try as we might, almost inedible. It had a taste that was so heavily salty that it overwhelmed what was otherwise a nice combination of ingredients. It was like eating a teaspoon of straight salt. The waiter and manager suggested that the salty taste was from the included tortilla ships, but we ate some of those separately and, while seasoned, they were not the source of the salty taste. We did not get far in the salad and the manager "comped it". The tacos, written up in the paper as the star of the menu, arrived with the meat filling so "wet", whether from the grilled onions or other oil, such that the tortillas began to fall apart almost immediately, making eating by hand very difficult. While my taco content were ok, my wife encountered several pieces of "meat" that were grizzle or chunks of fat. She managed to eat one, separating our the inedible parts and passed on the other.
So...we wish them well as a new restaurant and the rush due to press that same day may have caused problems, but based on our experience and the number of excellent Mexican restaurants in the area we won't likely be back.
The food was very good but the service was a bit haphazard. We ordered several appetizers that all required chips for dipping and one tiny bowl of chips were provided for 5 appetizers (we were a large party). Waitstaff does not actively seek if you're doing ok and it took a while to get attention to get more chips. Just a nit but for a Mexican restaurant, there's no need to be stingy with the chips.
But, everything tasted very good- very fresh, good temperature, nice seasonings. Service needs some tightening up and the experience will be so much better.
Great rough but service is still a work in progress
Great food, and drinks. All very well presented. However this is all ruined by absolutely awful service. Waiters taking drink orders and then being told 10 mins later, by the manager they never wrote them down and forgot them (to be fair manager comp'd the drinks). Later we didn't receive chips when ordered, drink refills, to go bags etc. Was so hard to find a waiter to reorder drinks. Rarely checked on throughout the evening. Really ruined what is clearly a well run kitchen. Hopefully they can fix this fast, but it's clear serious investment in service staff is needed. The manager can only do some much cleaning up. I'm not sure I will ever go back, despite greatly enjoying the good and drinks. What a shame :(
Food and service were great! They need more umbrellas for the front outside seating area. If you sit outside during lunch time, be prepared with sunscreen.
We had a wonderful time and the employees were all very friendly and helpful! Glad we had a reservation it was very well filled. Food was very delicious!!!!
Enjoyed our lunch. Exceeded expectations- very nice
Went for Happy Hour with a good friend. Decent drinks (Margaritas) and snacks (queso, fish tacos, watermelon salad). Not crowded. Solid HH apps. Reasonably priced drinks.
The enchiladas were cold. The pork belly dried and desiccated chunks of meat. The corn appetizer appeared to have been cooked earlier in the day as the kernels were very shriveled, as happens after sitting for a long time. We ordered a Cadillac margarita and all we could taste was fake lime margarita mix. The drink was something ridiculous like $17. Our server was inattentive. We asked twice to have the corn appetizer first and then our entrees but the corn showed up after the entrees. When we pointed this out, she seemed not to care. It was a terrible dining experience and we can’t recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful experience, delicious food and outstanding service!
The menu is limited, it seems like more cocktails wines and drinks is the focus. So far I've had several tacos, the grilled corn and the amazing chicharrones. The ambience in this place is amazing. Staff attentive and outside seating makes this place a jewel. My 3rd time here I was impressed once again.
We were a party of five with outdoor seating reservations for 7:30. At 7:45 we were told it would be a few more minutes. Ten minutes later still not seated. There was only one outdoor table that would accommodate five people or more, and the party sitting there was finished eating, their table was clear, their check or receipt was in the center of the table, and they were drinking water. We waited a little longer, and they did not make any move to leave. Nor did management tell them that the next reservation for the table was waiting. Finally, we asked for an indoor table. Then, seated inside, we found the noise level more than "energetic," and the service was poor because we waited too long for our food. Which leads me to the last comment....none of the food was good. The tacos were soggy.
Excellent food, terrific staff, great value. You can't go wrong!
Super inconsistent, even with their salads. One day, it has big pieces of chicken, the next day it has slivers. One day, they remember the dressing, one day they don’t. Service is spotty at lunch. Bartender is also the outside waiter and he has allergies (he said) and he’s sniffling on our food.
Loved the outdoor seating and the menu selections we're very good. Our waiter seemed a bit harried and distracted. Otherwise it was a good experience.
My wife and I had heard good things about Cocina Hermanas, so we were eager to enjoy a great meal. Our waiter was top notch and our experience had nothing to do with him or his effort.
When we arrived, it was quite busy so we put in our drink and dinner orders. As we waited and waited, it was clear that they were way behind in the food order. Our waiter sent us a complimentary guacamole & chips to apologize for the long wait. When the food ultimately arrived, my nachos were cool and very bland. I did not want to complain as it would take forever for another dish to be remade. My wife's 2nd drink also took forever to make it to the table.
I am quite disappointed in our first experience and not likely to return.
Our new favorite date night spot! Great food and drinks. Super healthy if you order right.
Fun spot and great food. Lots of tasty options. Try and get a spot outside if possible
The food was wonderful, but the service was terrible. We couldn't tell who was our server and I believe the manager on duty had jeans and a t-shirt on. When going to the restroom the bartender and ? manager were on their cellphones. Unfortunately as I said the food was wonderful, location great, but won't be back sadly.
We've eaten here several times, but it was a miss last time. There must be new chefs or something. The chilaquiles were almost burnt, the plate had dry radishes on it and no sauce. It seems to me the dish usually has some moisture to it, but this time everything was dry. The steak tacos were bland and the tacos had a ton of onions on them, way more than usual.
Hope this isn't the norm going forward.
The service was really off when we were there! We waited 10 min for our guacamole and chips. Then waited a long time for our dinner and when they brought it half the order was missing. They brought the rice and beans after we were all finished with our entree. We said send it back, we are done! All we got was “sorry”. We felt it was overpriced for what you got- $12 for a small margarita? The entrees don’t come with rice and beans- they are extra. Too bad because the atmosphere and patio area is really nice.
Food and service was good, however the meal came without serving utensils three times and the tabel was way too small for comfort. There wasn't room on the table to put the food or to enjoy the dinner in comfort. We ended up taking home many leftovers.
This place needs to work out some kinks. Drinks are pricey but good, but food is horrible. Queso fundido was grainy and gross and the food was oddly presented and not good. Got charged for a side of the red rice because the other one was gross. Chips and salsa were ok. Really want to try this place again when they re-work the menu.
