The food was amazing. The owner/chef was so friendly and we had a great conversation about food and wine. This is one of Baton Rouge's best kept secrets. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable. The bartenders are great make some really quality cocktails. Give it a try, like us, you will come back again and again.

We enjoyed Sunday Brunch. The Cocha salad was light and perfect. The curry dish with coconut rice was seasoned very nicely. Not too strong.

With the outdoor dining it feels like a European restaurant. The food is excellent and not your normal South LA fare. I had mushroom risotto. Excellent! The owners are heavily involved and the service is faultless. This was our first outing since the pandemic struck and we chose Cocha. It did not disappoint. Highly recommend it.

We always have a wonderful meal at Cocha. The chef shows daring and creativity and we never hesitate to try the specials (as we did that night). Our server, Wayne, did a superb job of making sure that our experience was top-notch. Cocha is one of our favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge and we will most definitely be back!

My favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge. The food is always stellar, the service great, and the ambiance special without being too fussy. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. My favorite dish has been their seafood stew...oh how marvelous. It’s out of season now so I had the moules frites. YUM. They have a great wine list too. Highly recommended.

I should start with saying that Cocha is my favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge. I like the place because it is one of the few upscale restaurants that consistently has good options for vegetarians. On Valentine's Day, though, they disappointed me. Two things in particular disappointed me.

First, when we looked at the prix fixe menu, which was mandatory for the evening, there was no vegetarian entree. When we asked about this, before ordering, we were told that there was something, but the chef decided not to put it on the menu. OK. Weird, but OK. We then ordered the only items we could and looked forward to the meal. The 1st course was essentially one sliced mushroom, the 2nd course was three pieces of asparagus, and the entree was, which was actually delicious, vegan casserole of sorts. For dessert, I had a tasty tres leche; whereas, my husband had mousse or something. The entree and the desserts were superb, but this wasn't worth $75. If the vegetarian options are like this, I cannot recommend Cocha when they do a prix fixe. Vegetarians are getting ripped off. That was the first thing that was upsetting.

The second concerned our after-dinner drinks. My husband ordered a benedictine, and I got a calvados. The server took our orders, but then came back to me and asked if I wanted mine 'straight up.' I was puzzled (who drinks brandy with ice!?) and just said yes. When the bill came, I saw that I had a 40% upcharge on the drink for having it without ice. Of course, the menu specified no such upcharge. I was annoyed but decided not to complain. The annoying thing wasn’t exactly the price: if what they charged me was the listed price, I would’ve ordered it anyway. The problem is that there shouldn’t be an upcharge for ordering brandy the standard way. The fact that there is means that somebody doesn’t know what they’re doing. If I’m spending nearly $300 for two people for an evening out, I’m paying for people to know better.

Out of all 5 Valentine's Day courses I only truly enjoyed the dessert. The food was overpriced for the quality and taste. We were told the steak would be medium rare and I asked for it to be cooked a little more, but when it arrived it was barely cooked and the plate was bloody so I sent it back and it came back medium rare and it was edible but nothing special. The asparagus “salad” was just 4 pieces of asparagus that weren’t thoroughly cooked and were quite bitter. My boyfriend eats pretty much anything you put in front him, but even he couldn’t finish the seafood stew or the rabbit liver pate. Overall we were disappointed with the meal and the whopping price. I would not recommend this place unless you have a taste for bland and bitter cuisine.

Food and drinks were excellent. I got the Sugar and Smoke cocktail and the seared duck breast. But the service was incredibly slow, to the point we felt forgotten at times, and I had to ask about specials I'd heard another server tell a nearby table.

I am sad to write a negative critique as we went to Cocha with high hopes. Pluses: excellent bar and wine list, food quality (flavor and presentation). Negatives: inconsistent portion size on entrees, some very small and the rest small. We shared food around the table to make sure everyone was no longer hungry. We had a reservation at 7 arrived on time with a party of 6 and had to wait 15-20 minutes. We were very easy going with the owner and said we would sit outside if we could get a drink which was provided (not comp’d) and serviced was slow. Our food was not elaborate and it was slow coming out. My wife ordered bread to go with her mussels (which she said were excellent), but the six small slices came out when we were almost done eating.

Overall: The restaurant was busy, but as a well rated and local favorite I bet they are busy every Friday and should have figured it out by now. Food flavor was excellent but portions were very small with very little else on your plate (I am NOT a big eater and had to have a Cliff bar after as I was not full. Very disappointed with the owner, as we bent over backwards to be easy going and accommodating and got no consideration for our helpfulness...even a thank you at the end of the meal. Would not go back.

Normally love Cocha’s but tonight must have been an off night for them. Wanted muscles but they ran out at 6:40. Our meal was slow in getting to us and was luke warm when it arrived. We mentioned this to the server who simply shrugged her shoulders.
