The food was really good however it is a little pricey for the location. It is in a Hilton however they are trying to cater to people that are in the area looking for a good place to eat. the price reflects more of a "hotel restaurant" where you expect to pay more but if they want to bring in non-hotel staying customer who have a lot of options with respect to other restaurants they will need to decrease their prices just a bit.
Made reservations for their Thanksgiving dinner and was very disappointed. The concept of the food menu was great but the execution was poor. The food lacked basic seasoning and tasted bland. Definitely wasn’t worth the prefix price.
We were at the restaurant for the Thanksgiving buffet and found the food ok but not the quality we expected. The vegetables were uncooked and difficult to chew. The meat was ok but not the best quality. The pie crusts seemed uncooked. Overall the buffet was ok but not great.
We were on vacation in the San Diego area and costalKitchen was recommended to us for Thankgiving dining. We were not disappointed, the food selection and service was beyond our expectations.
Avoid if you want to good food. The place was empty, yet they seemed to have trouble staying on top of the 2 tables that had customers. Service was friendly but slow. The food is awful. From beginning to end. The flatbread was on inedible bread. Clearly a pre-cooked base that should never have been served. The calamari was the worst I have ever had. The salads were OK, I suppose. The olives small plate was strange... A huge bowl of olives. Edible, but nothing special. The Hibachi Salmon... was also edible. But dry. Picture having dinner in the lobby of a mid-range hotel. That's Coastal Kitchen.

Last visit was disappointing; kid's food had hair in it; my salmon was way to dry -- think part of the tail and overcooked. Wine/drinks were slow to arrive... Server was inattentive and host was not friendly.

One of the worst meals I’ve ever had. Burger was over cooked - twice. Anemic lettuce and tomato. Mushy pickle. The server couldn’t have been nicer though. He should be working at a much better place. Seriously, Burger King would be an upgrade to the food.
We came here to check out the restaurant as an option for a rehearsal dinner and we were not disappointed. They told us they had recently renovated in the last year and it was done very well. Particularly the patio area is gorgeous; with it poolside and multiple fire pits, it creates a wonderful outdoor atmosphere. We sat at the indoor bar and watched sports and spoke with our bartender and the bar manager, Dan. They were both very friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. They said the menu choices can be seasonal on half the items available, which was great to hear for variety and locally fresh. After that night, we were pretty set on hosting our rehearsal dinner here. Can't wait to go back.

Brunch with parents who were in town! Great service and food! Our server, Colin, was knowledgeable, made great suggestions and very friendly! The food was delicious and very high quality ingredients. The parents were impressed and enjoyed themselves!
They were able to seat a table of 8 on pretty short notice at their busy time during a Friday night. This is inside the Hilton right by the racetrack. It worked out perfectly as the food was decent, enjoyable live music and our server was outstanding. We had a great outdoor table and it was very comfortable and since you were sitting in the courtyard, there were games and other things for kids to enjoy as well.
I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was with coastalKITCHEN. We came in to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday and wanted something low-key with good food and craft cocktails. We sat on the patio and split the Brussel sprouts appetizer and one of the flatbreads. Our server Micah was fantastic and made several recommendations to us for both food and drinks (and they all turned out to be perfect for what we wanted). Would absolutely recommend.

Didn't realize it was inside a Hilton. Outside space was nice and food and drinks were very good. Service was slow at lunch (seemed like bartender was only served for inside and out) but she was friendly.

It was nice having our own private room for Mother's Day brunch with 12 of us. However we had terrible service !! We had to always look for our server and ask for refills . One of us asked for another iced tea and we never did receive it . Had to ask for refill on water and coffee and when we asked for what we the waiter rolled his eyes and said the F word . He received a 100$ tip and definitely didn't deserve it . Poor service for the price and such a well known hotel. We expected great service from here and especially having our own room and with so many of us it was a big bill. Did wish there was a omelette station but the ham and prime rib was nice and great coffee .
We chose coastalKITCHEN as a new place to celebrate a special event. The staff was very attentive and responsive to our requests and made our time with them delightful. We opted to order a few different items to taste a bit of everything and were pleased with our selections. The outdoor dining was a great option and after the Sun went down it was so beautiful to have the fire pits flickering around us. Thank you for a beautiful evening.
Chef is quite good. Service was well intentioned but needs to be trained to anticipate guests needs. Someone should poor water immediately upon guest seating .
Plenty of staff standing around but takes a while before server shows up to get drink order or to get check.
Easter Brunch....great kids activities this year! Wish they had eggs Benedict but everything else was great. Will be coming again.
Sunday brunch. Arrived 1230. Dismal service. Drink orders were finally taken 45 minutes after our party arrived. Our meals were served well over one hour after we arrived. Many others who came in after us were served even before our drink orders were taken, and even though we found our waiter and requested service two separate times. Would never recommend.
Thanksgiving Day buffet was excellent ....also the service was first class....Will definitely return....
Always enjoy Coastal Kitchen's holiday buffets. Food is attractive, well-prepared and a nice variety. My family and I enjoy all the offerings- very delicious and nice balance of flavors. The staff is friendly and efficient. The space is open, airy and relaxing--and very clean. I'm very excited about returning soon! Thank you Del Mar Hilton!
Generally everything was fine. The only really unusual part is at the beginning of our dinner, the waitress asked us to open a tab for dinner for a party of eight. She said people run out in the bill all the time. So we joked that all eight of us, including four children, were going to run out. So we put a credit card down and continued with our dinner.
We spent all evening at the bar watching the Warriors game and then continued to eat and drink. I received poor customer service from Melanie. She made it known that "we had been there for a while." Because we weren't part of her section, which was very apparent she failed to come check on us to see how we were doing. Other than that, my family and I had a great time. Ish was very accommodating and provided great service.

REASONABLY PRICED NOT TOO FAR FROM DEL MAR BEACH...We found this by accident and were pleasantly suprised. Nothing to write home about but prices were reasonable as was everything else.
We ordered the crispy chicken for $23 which was a chicken wing smaller than the palm of my hand, and not even crispy! It was overwhelmed with both super salty vegetables and polenta. Overall the cuisine was highly overpriced for the quality.
Our Thanksgiving dinner at Coastal Kitchen in the Hilton Del Mar was First Class! Attention to detail was obvious from the moment we entered the restaurant. Derick Frederick, the Food and Beverage Manager, welcomed us to the restaurant and showed us to the table he'd reserved for us. It was a perfect location.
The menu Executive Chef Andrew Knudtson and his staff had prepared for the Thanksgiving holiday provided choices for every palate. Salad choices included: Local Greens with Heirloom Tomato, Candied Walnut, and Shropshire Cheddar and Organic Red Quinoa Salad with Salt Roasted Beet and Wild Rocket Arugula.
An exceptional Hand Carved Roasted Turkey was prepared with Cranberry-Orange Mint Gremolata with accompaniments of Candied Yams with Marshmallows and Pecans, Buttermilk-Roasted Garlic Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, and Savory Trio of Wild Mushroom Stuffing with Bilbao Chorizo.
Additional Entree choices included: Hand Carved Adobo Roasted Pork with Stone Fruit Pecan Chutney; Roasted Free Range Chicken with Chestnut Creme Fraiche; Yucatan Style Baja Red Snapper with Mango, Peppers and Sweet Onions; Grilled Skirt Steak with Chef's Garden Herbs and Jus de Veau; and Woodland Wild Mushroom Roasted Chicken with Brie Cream over Tortellini.
Exquisite decadent desserts provided the perfect finale. Our choices were: Fresh Seasonal Fruit Desserts; Traditional Apple Pie and Pumpkin Pie; and Toasted White Chocolate Bread Pudding with Brandied Caramel. These were accompanied with Starbucks Coffee and Tea Service.
Since Thanksgiving Day was also our wedding anniversary, the attentive Coastal Kitchen Staff provided a romantic setting for what became an exquisite meal. A number of staff members stopped by our table to wish us a Happy Anniversary, including Executive Chef Andrew Knudtson. Their thoughtfulness and attention to detail made this Thanksgiving and our wedding anniversary one that we'll not forget.
