Our server (Maria or Mariana?) was so accommodating and took great care of us. The smoked trout dip was delicious as always, and so was the cauliflower. Coastal has done a great job of converting some of its parking spaces into a nice outdoor seating area, and it looks lovely. When one of our party needed to use the restroom, she was met at the door by a hostess, who took her temperature and then pointed the way. Overall, a great experience, and I felt like appropriate safety precautions were being followed.
The location is great. The Covid 19 precaution was practiced with sanitizer, use of mask & social distancing . The server assigned to us was courteous,& kind and frequently checked on us if everything was okay. It was a lovely experience. The food was tasty with elegant presentation.
Perfect way to end a weekend. We had an amazing experience at Coastal Kitchen from the moment we were seated and treated by our amazing server Emily. Emily provided recommendations of plates (Clam Chowder and Ribs) I would not have typically order but to my surprise they were amazing. She is truly an awesome. I highly recommend Coastal Kitchen.
Great place, great food and great service! Highly recommend it!
Was great ... Best rib eye Hawaiian marinated and crab cakes with slaw!
food/service/atmosphere was good overall. one issue to bring the head chef is that the coleslaw has bleu cheese or something similar in it which seems to make it taste odd.
Menu choices were limited. Understand it has to do with COVID 19, but there were only a couple of items that interested me and my wife.
We will try again...once we things return to a more normal conditions.
I have been dining at costal kitchen since it opened. I have brought many family and friends. We patronized them when they were shut down with curb side service.
yesterday, my wife and I made reservations at 4:30. I ordered the soup and fish tacos, my wife ordered the ribs. My soup came first, then came the fish tacos, and my wife’s ribs. When she began cutting one off, she told me they were cold, she tried a second one, which was also cold.
The chef was standing close by and I called him over telling him the ribs were cold. He took the plate and said he would take care of it. We waited about 15-20 minutes when the server brought back the ribs. I was shocked that he didn’t even make her a new plate, the same plate with the same ribs. While we were waiting my tacos got cold. We finished our dinner, and at no time did the chef ever come back and apologize for the inconvenience. I was very surprised, especially when you bring it to the chef’s attention. So, I paid the bill, and for the $27.00 dollar ribs. Poor, poor business practice. Especially when we keep you going when you needed it. I will be bringing my family, and friends across the street!
Great experience! Fav restaurant
My favorite restaurant! Coastal Kitchen does it right!
Food is delicious, but a tad pricey. Although it’s by no means a vegetarian restaurant, a vegan or vegetarian can eat well there.
The entire time we were there we felt like we were not welcome there. Will not go back. The staff at this place need to learn to do their jobs without giving their customers an attitude. A few things you might want to keep in mind based on my experience:
1. Staff might give you an attitude and seem like they don’t care about you and just want to take your order
2. According to our waitress, they only provide “1 menu per table” so unless you are dining here by yourself you will have to wait for everyone to get their chance to read the menus (funny because within 1 minute of seating you they ask if you are ready to order and then every 2 minutes until you are rushed into making an order)
3. They may not actually care about how you want your food cooked (my date asked for well-done but she got medium rare)
4. They don’t have paper napkins and if you ask for napkins they will tell you they only have “toilet papers” (at least based on our experience)
5. Even if you tip them well, the staff may not change their attitude ( Even though I was not happy with our experience I still tipped our waitress 20% of the balance. She didn’t even say thank you and as we were leaving she just looked at us and then just looked away. I, as a customer, wished her a good night and she just ignored us completely and walked away.
I know these are all little things but these are the things I personally care about when I’m choosing where to dine.
We always enjoy the Coastal Kitchen! It is our go to restaurant for lunch and dinner. We also take friends as our guests when they are visiting! The food is always deliciously prepared! The service is outstanding!
The winds were blowing, it was cold and not great!
Lovely outdoor seating for outstanding lunch menu.
Love the crab cakes lunch, delicious crab cakes.
HIghly recommended for a great lunch.
Bre out server was excellent....attentive but not overbearing.
Great service, delicious food and overall nice evening out.
Great. Thank you
Consistently great! Love the outdoor dining that they added.
Coastal Kitchen is definitely taking the right steps to make their customers feel more comfortable during this Covid-19 period. If you eat inside, they take every guest's temperature. Outside, where we ate (and I would suggest it), the one paper menu was shared by all and then disposed of after all guests made their meal selections. Flatware for the table was delivered in a plastic bag. Although the menu is somewhat more limited than the one pre Covid-19, none of the three people in my party had a problem selecting an appealing meal for their lunch. And, when the meals were delivered, everyone was happy with their choice. Our server was good at refilling our drinks of ice tea/soda without being asked.
And last, but not least, incoming/exiting customers all wore masks! What a surprise from other customers in south OC.
We had a great time. I love the food, atmosphere and the service.
Outstanding food and service.... another special evening. The chef is hitting it out of the park with the food and our wait staff was very attentive. Great experience...
You have to try the crab cakes! They are the best I've ever had.
This was our first visit to Coastal Kitchen. We had a good experience, the food was good, perhaps a little expensive. But we would definitely go back.
Great birthday lunch for a friend - making it work outside under these strange times / great service and food.
I love the ambiance of the restaurant. The decorations are warm and inviting. I always see a friend there as it’s our go to place. It is a bit expensive for lunch and we didn’t have any alcohol.
I haven’t been back to Coastal Kitchen for a few years but the food, wine, and service was amazing. Ambiance was great — even with the pandemic circumstances. We had the heirloom tomato appetizer, which was by far the best we’ve beer had. The chef’s tacos were so good - I had the salmon and my my mom had the steak. Both were amazing. Son and Dad had the hamburger and the salmon - both excellent dishes. We finished it with the brownie dessert. Best meal I’ve had in a restaurant in months. Glad Coastal Kitchen was able to maintain their quality during this pandemic!
Great service. Quality food.
Loved sitting outside. Service and food was terrific. Liked that we could bring our own bottle of wine without a corkage fee.
Great food. The crab cakes are fantastic. All grab meat and no fillers
I’ve driven past this place many times on the way to and from Sano! (I live in Huntington Beach) I will definitely be back here again with friends. This place has almost a hill-stone vibe but with a more relaxed atmosphere! I recommend Hawaiian Steak & loaded baked potato & Key lime pie! Perfection!
Consistently fantastic. One of my favorite local restaurants. Crab cakes are mostly crab, and among the best in California. Cocktails are a bit overpriced, but delicious nonetheless. I've never had a bad meal here, and service is mostly very good.
One tiny complaint: Water glasses are very small, and the servers can't get back to refill them often enough. Provide a larger water glass and this problem would be solved.
Excellent excellent crabcakes! It’s my go to every time!
Perfect place for any kind of occasion. Highly recommend!
It was amazing .
First night back to in-house dining...... great booth near kitchen....clean and safe. Head chef greeted us at the table and overall service was excellent... enjoyed a bowl of clam chowder and Scottish salmon.... wife selected the double bone pork chop.... drinks were superb .... love this place
Coastal managed transition to outside very well.
Food was great, the vibe by glass is a bit pricy, other than that great experience
Went to lunch with a friend and the service was fantastic from Maria. The food was consistent and good! Atmosphere, despite COVID, was nice being able to sit outside. Will continue to bring others here.
Good food, great service
Wonderful experience and felt safe with all the protocols in place. We each had the french dip which was a new menu item and was DELICIOUS!!! Great ambience and loved the way they made the outside space (former parking area) a lovely oasis!
We ate in the garden which was away from PCH and quiet. Our server was wonderful and very attentive. This was our first time to CK. Would highly recommend it. I had the halibut and it was very good. My husband had the Chowder and then the Crab cakes and both were very good.
