Coastal Kitchen & Raw Bar
The Foo’s is always consistent and nothing is better than sitting on their outside deck.
We have enjoyed that restaurant since it opened. We love taking people there. 2 problems:
You cannot sit inside because of the noise. It is tough sitting outside in the winter.
2. We came early for happy hour.we were slow being seated and the waitress took a long time coming to our table so we missed happy hour. When I explained this she said” the cash register will not allow me to ring up after 6!
Great evening celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary!! Excellent food. Great view. Perfect evening!
Great food, service, location, ambiance, etc. will visit again next time in st simons island!
Enjoyed a great meal with a great view with great service perfectly paced!
Food was delicious service good!! Ladies room door nearly held me hostage in there for acouple mintues.
Outdoor dining is very nice
Took our son and daughter-in-law for their first visit as they usually have to leave for home on Sunday and had an extra day. For them it was everything that we had boasted about. A very enjoyable experience for all of us out on the porch. Tried the new items added to the brunch menu. Excellent!!!
Why is the service here ALWAYS subpar and disingenuous. Our server was extremely uninterested in our dining experience. The food here is good but the service is lacking on so many levels. My friend and I dined for two hours with the original server rolling his eyes and being less than helpful with the menu; I live here my friend does not. Why do places with fabulous food make you hate that you chose to dine out? Sadly, I won’t be coming back for brunch for the same experience I’ve had for 2 yrs now.
First, it was my birthday and no one said anything & I noted it on the Open Table reservation. But as we were seated, someone else was being sung happy birthday. When we came in, we were greeted by 3 young ladies who were chatting when our party of 5 and another large party walked in. They continued their conversation without acknowledging us both for an uncomfortable amount of time and still kept talking as we were being walked to our seat. The waiter Aric seemed very unpleased to be serving us and uninformed about the menu when asked about 3 different of the most popular menu items, saying he said he hadn’t tried them so he didn’t know. The kitchen was also running behind, which is understandable, but it took him 30 minutes to bring bread to hold us over. Also, we ordered 2 bottles of wine and not only did he not let us taste the wine to be sure it was what we wanted, the second bottle he sat down on the table without even opening it & at least 3 of us had empty glasses. Overall we spent nearly $300 and it was a very subpar experience. This place came recommended to me, and we cannot deny that the red fish, ahi tuna, and dirty oysters were great, but because of the service I would not return.
I struggled with how to rate our experience at Coastal Kitchen, because the food was absolutely fantastic but the service was awful. Our waiter was nice and polite, but almost completely absent. The hostess seated us immediately upon arriving and gave us menus. About 5 minutes later another couple came in and was seated across the way from us. Their server came and introduced himself and went over the menu with them before we ever even knew who ours was. A few minutes later our server finally shows up and fills our water glasses, takes our drink orders, and disappears. The other couple had their orders taken and received their appetizer before our server had even come back with our drinks and taken our order. We'd set a time limit between us that we were going to just leave if he'd not shown back up. He made it with less than 2 minutes to spare. If not for the fact that we'd eated at Coastal Kitchen twice before and loved it, we wouldn't have waited as long as we did.
Arrived a little early and they said our table was ready but when we got to the table it wasn’t. Needed another chair plus had to ask for silverware when our food came. And way too noisy! Food excellent!!
The setting is great and the staff is nice but the food is overpriced for what it is. I had the filet, and I asked for it medium, and it came well done on the verge of being chewy. Not worth $28. My husband had the paella which was mediocre at best. The dish lacked flavor and was also not worth $28. Not sure about the other dishes, but we probably won't return.
Been here a few times before. Views are nice. Service was fine. Gonna just go ahead and get to our main beef here: the food
Wife and I split the lobster and crab ravioli. I'm not a picky eater. My method of protest if a restaurant is poor is to simply not return. I will make an exception in this case. This was the worst, most tasteless ravioli we've ever eaten. Bland, flat, rubbery, a cream sauce that tasted like truly nothing, my wife suspected it had been microwaved, small portion, hardly and crab or lobster meat within. Just awful. And we paid 26 dollars for it as well. Please do not order this if you dine there. I doubt we will return for a long while if ever. Just so disappointed, and surprised they would serve us that. I've had better entrees in public school cafeterias, truthfully. Thank you for reading.
Value for your dollars-very poor
Server was having a bad day
Quality of food, very good
Scenery very good
Not at all what I expected. Food was overpriced and average at best.
Everything was delicious. Our only negative was that it was warm where we were seated. Other than that it was all good.
This was the first time we had been to Coastal Kitchen since the menu revision. I like many of the new items added to the menu. I had the "special", and it was delicious! Our waitress was very attentive and personable. If you have not been to Coastal Kitchen in awhile, give them a chance; they have their act together, and I think you will enjoy the experience!
While the location is lovely, the ambiance could be so much better by providing less of a cafeteria environment.
We started at the bar. Not once nor twice but 3 times my mojito needed to be remade.
We finally asked if our table was ready after 20 minutes past our reservation.
After being seated in front of the kitchen (where lots of crashes happened) we asked to be moved to another table.
We ordered 1/2 steam and 1/2 raw oysters.
The order came out wrong. And whomever was shucking oysters needs to be retrained because their were pieces of shell in our oysters. The 1/2 pound was nice but at $19 way overpriced.
We ordered our entrees. I stressed my allergies (which are life threatening) and really was hesitate to order because it seemed the waitress did not understand the seriousness of my allergies.
The lobster pasta roll was chewy and lacked any filling. The blackened redfish was nice but basic.
Much better restaurants around for the money.
Wonderful food and service. The setting on the Marina is beautiful! We had calamari, lobster nachos and fried pickles for appetizers. They were all great! I had the paella as my entree and it was excellent others in our party had swordfish which they devoured and another had the peel and eat shrimp which was great as well. The wine list is not that great and it is a bit loud, but the food and service could not have been more perfect!
We sat at the bar, not a problem but the door outside kept swinging open and a gust of super hot air would blow right onto our faces. Food and service was excellent and would return ~ just in different seats :)
Coastal Kitchen occupies the most beautiful setting for dining in The Golden Isles. The views are stunning and there's not a bad table in the house. And, the service has always been professional but relaxed--a good fit for the setting. I've found the food, however, to be a bit unpredictable ranging from merely good to excellent. My most recent meal there was good but not on par with what I've had before. But, the four of us had a very nice evening and will certainly return.
As an aside, I've always enjoyed having lunch there.
One of the Island's best kept secrets! It's a must visit on every trip.
We went for brunch. Food was lacking for the price. Expected more based on reviews.
Great find away from the touristy cluster of traps on the island
Great food good service. Wish the noise level was less
We had raw oysters, chilled shrimp and the lobster nachos. All were excellent! Cute restaurant overlooking the marsh.
Enjoyed the paeya
I had the oysters, no side items were brought till most the ice melted. Also my lobster ravioli was disgusting. Thin sauce, hard pasta like outside, salty old inside .... gross. But the restaurant is beautiful, the view out the window made it worth it.
I only visit Coastal Kitchen once or twice a year when I am on the island, but I find it consistently good with good service and nice ambiance.
Very good and great views
We are going to go back again and again and again and again.
Great location, view of water front marina and near ICW.
Would return and experience other seafood selections.
Always great! They accommodated my dietary restrictions and didn’t make me feel awkward about it. Our server, Sarah, was very friendly. A home run.
The food was delicious, but the service was slow. Good drinks and a beautiful view made up for the service! We will go back!
Love the view of the boats and the fried oysters. Cocktails have a kick to them
Coastal Kitchen and Raw Bar has a great marina location and equally great views.
The food is OK - certainly not bad - but not great.
My wife had the ahi tuna which came out over cooked initially. It was quickly replaced and was pretty good - but not the beat she has ever had.
I had the scallops and shrimp dish. The scallops were very nicely prepared, but the shrimp were a bit over cooked and as a result a bit tough - acceptable, but not great.
Service was OK - but less attentive than we expected. I think the server had too many tables to handle.
Prices are on the high side, but not atypical for this area with entrees running between $26 and $32.
We might try this place again - but not sure.
Excellent! Great food and absolutely wonderful service!
This is the 8-9th visit to Coastal Kitchen since we began visiting SSI some time ago and we were not aware that the restaurant since our last visit was under new ownership until after we were seated at our table. We were pondering why it was so hot in our area and were informed by our waiter (who did a great job under the circumstances) that the air conditioning was broken or only partially working. This is something we would have appreciated knowing when we checked in. The food was excellent as it should be for the price point that they charge. We had a lovely couple who were sat next to us and they informed us that they have lived on SSI for over 30 years and they were told the same thing about the air conditioning six months ago. There was a wedding rehearsal dinner that had to be moved outside where the temperature was in the 90's. SSI has too many quality choices for dinner and I would recommend Coastal Kitchen get their act together and fix the problem.
