We have been frequent patrons of Coast for years, and were excited to see they had renovated. Menu was always consistently good, but needed some updates. We were disappointed. The interior was the only renovation; they took down a wall separating the bar from the dining area, changed the banquettes, light fixtures, painted the walls and generally made the space feel more open. However, the menu was THE SAME!!! They added only one new dish. Moreover, they ran out of most of their beers - no Sam Adams, no IPA - only Heiniken and Amstel light, and this was a Friday night! Don't they get beer deliveries before the weekend? It was such a disappointment; doubt we will go back for a long time.
Good food nice atmosphere
The food was excellent and the choices were abundant.
We will go back to try some of the many things we didn't get to this time around.
Always delicious
We have been to Coast many times. The services is always excellent as is the food. This particular visit, the restaurant was quite full, but we were seated right on time and served our main course quite quickly. We liked they added more meat dished on the menu, the veal chop and T-bone steak were perfectly cooked! We continue to heartily endorse it.
Overall an excellent experience. New deco, service was spot on and very professional. Attentive without being intrusive. Wonderful menu, quality all around; will definitely return.
Excellent - all employees wonderful
Coming off of an outstanding meal at Coast, I am loathe to mention prior visits to the restaurant and the inconsistency of my experience there. This was my first Thursday night visit to Coast. I had formerly visited Coast on a Saturday night (loud, bar scene) and on a weekday afternoon (civilized, so-so food). My experience was altogether different this time around. My husband and I were the only two diners for the bulk of our time spent there. Hence, it was quiet. The lighting was nice, and the decor was warm and inviting (just off a recent renovation). The food--my husband ordered the lobster bisque and the veal chop (both specials) and I opted for a starter of the scallops with cauliflower mash--was outstanding. The portions were ample. My only complaint was the service. We were the only two people in the restaurant, yet the staff seemed, at moments, too busy to take our orders or replenish our waters.
A great deal of ambiance and romance was lost with the recent renovation. Service was a bit choppier than usual too. Food is still very good but it feels like they are working through a few things.
Ridiculous !!! Upon entry said - heat is coming on. A lie! No heat. Zero accommodation or acknowledgement of freezing conditions . This place has very good food— but can not figure out what service in a Greenwich restaurant should be. Have given this place many chances - but this was the last straw. Very disappointed
Part of our regular rotation this is a restaurant that works hard at delivering fresh, delicious food with a welcoming warmth.
DONT BOTHER. We went based on many positive reviews and were very disappointed. Food was mediocre, at best. The Tuna tartare special on “crispy rice” was raw tuna mashed with some unknown condiment on rice that was maybe sticky rice, but was not crispy rice. Service was sub par; there were only 4 tables filled at prime time on a Saturday night, yet we had to ask for another glass of wine and waited a long time for additional bread to dip into the sauce of the mussels. We ordered a side of fries, which was inexplicably brought with the appetizers. We will not be going back!
Excellent food
Service was just ok but food more than made up for it
I greatly appreciate the fixed priced luncheon. The menu has something for everyone and the choices are fabulous.
We always enjoy the food at Coast Seafood. The menu has many options, from delicious small plates to many different entrees. However, on Saturday evenings the restaurant is often understaffed. Consequently, service is very slow.
Service first rate, food always fresh and consistent. The food was excellent, personally recommend the squid ink pasta with lobster. The pasta has lots of flavor and the seafood is perfectly balanced and smooth. The entree is amazing too, simple dishes with stunning flavors. Service is notable, our server is very personable and satisfied our wishes well.
Wonderful in every way.
Everything tastes delicious with a polite taste
Eat here often and there is a reason. Fresh food and great service.
The food great the views were beautiful and the staff was amazing
Everything about this place was amazing. We tried it for restaurant week and so glad we did because we will most definitely be back.
The food was very poor.
My girlfriend's tuna tartare was foul, and her shrimp were very greasy and had way too much batter around tiny shrimp.
My butternut squash was tasteless, salmon adequate, and desert (brownie sundae) contained a brownie that spent far too long in a microwave and turned into a brick.
They comped one meal but I would never return.
We went on a Monday night to avoid the crowd and had a very nice quiet dinner. The 3-course prix fixe restaurant week menu featured great selections, I recommend paying the upcharge for the seafood risotto, so worth it! Service and cocktails were also well done! It's definitely on our list for a repeat visit.
Some friends and I went for Restaurant Week. The appetizer, tuna tartar, was good, but the main course was dried out and flavorless, and the fish was tough and difficult to cut. A few of my friends paid $10 extra for the seafood risotto, which was unremarkable and definitely not worth the cost. The dessert was also tough, dried out and flavorless. The service was spotty- so many waiters that they were tripping over each other, but none actually asked us how our food was, and they didn't seem to have a strong grasp of English. Considering that the prix fixe was $35, I do not think it was worth it. We also had a drink at the bar beforehand, and the bartender didn't know how to make a simple 3-ingredient drink, I had to google it for her. I would not come here again.
Never had a disappointing meal - lunch or dinner. Food is always well prepared, carefully presented, all meals served at the same time, never feel rushed or put upon for drinks.
This is wonderful! The menu is varied (mostly seafood) and seems to have more choices than the online menu. We ate at the bar and the bartender couldn't have been better. He make a fine cocktail! And he was warm, friendly and totally gracious. The food is flavorful, well prepared and very attractive. Coast is definitely a neighborhood gem!
First time we ate here and we enjoyed it. Menu includes some innovative takes in standard dishes, e.g., the escargot appetizer. Yellow fin tuna was excellent. Cod was good
Always outstanding service with the food exceeding expectations.
Pedestrian seafood, especially for an East Coast restaurant. Good soup, decent appetizers, OK mains. Disinterested waitstaff. Dry bread. But the worst was that they play loud Muzak. Are you kidding me? Muzak? Felt like I was in my grandmother's apartment elevator.
Date night with my wife...menu was uninventive...lobster roll (sushi) was best dish we had, we shared special pasta dish that had mussels and bay scallops that were lousy.
Service was indifferent (not knowing who ordered what, asking if we were done before we were done, etc)
Decor was fine, nothing special. Was loud at start of evening but quieted down.
All in all, disappointing meal.
Lovely atmospheric place with outdoor terrace seating. Food was excetional, well beyond my expectations.
A lovely surprise!! Met friends there that lived north so we met halfway...yummy
What a wonderful place to spend a Friday night with your loved one! At Coast Seafood Restaurant, we enjoyed the romantic dining atmosphere with very thoughtful services . Every dish was presented to us as a piece of beautiful artwork and tasted super delicious. We'll definitely come back soon with friends.
We celebrated our anniversary at Coast Seafood Restaurant and we had a wonderful time there. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious . The summer outdoor dining has a fantastic water view . We would highly recommend especially for special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries or group gatherings!
Always a pleasure to dine here and it's a place we look forward to visiting. Love the service and the scallops
We were so impressed with Coast Seafood that our group is going back next month for our luncheon. The choices on the fixe lunch menu were wonderful more to select from than any restaurant we have been to. One of the ladies had dinner at Coast and she was extremely happy with her experience. Great place, easy parking.
Love Fish & eager to try for some time. Surprised to find food & taste combinations unique with an inventive mixture of flavors & spices.
Portions are good size, not skimpy, and delicately presented.
Prices are reasonable.
Service was attentive, waiter informative and knew his menu & ingredients well.
Room is compact.
Bar area in nicely lit and well attended.
Would return.
Great spot for a first date if you are looking to impress. This wasn't a first date but my wife and I still enjoyed it to celebrate our anniversary with their chef's choice tasting menu at their patio with nice pond view and warm breeze...The kumumoto oysters was fresh and sweet.
We highly recommend Coast!
The experience was lovely. We had a late dinner after attending the party. The spicy tuna tartare was excellent. The crispy rice with toro was served as our special request. It was delicious!!! The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and they accompanying french fries was great. For what we spent on dinner I feel the restaurant is a great value in greenwich area . I've spent more than that in nyc and I had a much less enjoyable meal.
Food and service were very good. Too expensive even for a great place.
