We had great service given by Jessica. The Caprese salad was melt in your mouth delicious, with Balsamic "pearls", & micro basil adorning the burrata. The special fish preparation of Opakapaka was equally delicious. Overall 5 star evening.

This place will be closing soon. It is a part of the Hapuna Prince that is being demolished in the so called renovation. Heavy equipment works right to the restaurant edge. After about 5:30 it stops and the delight of a carefully crafted sunset dining experience begins. We had a very good time and some of the best poke ever.

Amazing eye level view of the long sandy beach with waves and palm trees. Great place for quiet girls catch up luncheon before all the island activities.

We've been to this restaurant many times. Our favorite item on the menu is the "Poke Your Way", where you specify how you want your poke made. Poke is a Hawaiian dish made from raw fish, typically Ahi tuna. It is a "Must Have" when visiting Hawaii. Although we came for the Poke, the monthly tasting menu for this August is outstanding, so we decided to go with it instead.

The things I like most about this restaurant...
- Outdoor dining on the patio overlooking the pool and ocean. The sunset is the best on the Island.
- Live music on the pool deck. The Hapuna has done a great job of booking fabulous artists to play every evening on the pool deck. You can hear them from anywhere on the patio of the Ocean Grille. From the first row of the patio at the Ocean Grill, you can see the artist as well.
- The friendly service. Elizabeth was our server this evening. We love Elizabeth, but the other servers we've had on other nights are great as well.
- The food. The Poke Your Way is the best. The seafood pasta is the best I have had anywhere.
The monthly tasting menus are great.
- If, like me, you have a favorite martini that is not common... the bartender here will do a great job of recreating it for you.

One note... The Hapuna Beach Prince has started a major reconstruction project, which is scheduled to complete in February 2018. The normal walkway to the Ocean Grille has been re-routed through the pool area to accommodate the construction. Although a bit inconvenient, it is out of sight and mind once you are seated, watching the fabulous sunset and listening to the beautiful Hawaiian music.

The food quality for the money was extremely disappointing, the waitress requested a tip after very poor service and we believe that a tip should be earned and that was not the case. The pork dish was tasteless and for a restaurant with some very good reviews I think that those people must have been extremely lucky.

We rode the shuttle from Mauna Kea Beach Hotel where we were staying to Hapuna Beach Hotel. Unfortunately barriers were up between the main hotel and Coast Grille for upcoming major renovations which we did not know about. We walked for what seemed like "miles" before we found the restaurant with the help of a worker who was leaving for the day. He was kind enough to guide us through the underground and long walkway outdoors. The dinner itself was tops, but we dreaded the walk back to the lobby area. Again, fortunately for us, after expressing our concern, the manager of the dining room guided us through the kitchen, back doors, through a tunnel with all the "pipes" (water, gas, etc.). We are "seniors" and all that detouring from the usual pathway was not a pleasant experience. On the plus side, the service of the management and workers were commendable.

In Hawaii on family vacation. My son ordered a seafood pasta, it literally had almost no sauce and was the tiniest order I've ever seen. My daughter had a flatbread barbecue chicken pizza which was completely average and I had two crab cakes that I didn't care for it all. The only thing good was my husband's cheeseburger. If all else fails, order a cheeseburger! We also ordered a spinach salad that had tomatoes and a tiny bit of mozzarella. Definitely not worth the price.

A very average meal. The drinks were very good. The sunset was nice.

The food on the other hand was not great. 1 of 3 fish in our 'seafood trio' was over cooked. Our server was clueless. They never made comment about my birthday. The price was average for the islands, but overpriced for the quality. All and all a pretty forgettable evening. Even staying in the hotel I will not be back.

We had dinner here during our stay at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. The staff was very friendly, especially our waitress, Judy. I ordered the fish trio and my husband ordered the rib eye steak. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly, moist and flavorful. Beautiful view of the beach and ocean, live Hawaiian music played from the bar area below. On the pricey side but this is not surprising considering the remote / hotel location.

Came over for dinner from the sister Mauna Kea Beach Hotel for a sunset dinner outdoors. Hubby and I shared an abalone appetizer. It was yummy, but a bit spicy! I had a Thai oyster shooter. Also very tasty. We both opted for the grilled fish trio, which had mahi, wahoo, and tuna. The fish was all grilled perfectly. The tuna was seared rare. Our server was attentive and friendly. Overall a wonderful evening and a gorgeous view.

We had a great experience at the Coast Grille. Menu selections was excellent and well balanced. We had Oyster Rockafellar, Charred Caesar Salad, and Ahi Poke Nachos for our starters. Outstanding appetizers to start with for your dinner. We enjoyed them very much. Our Entrees are Seafood Trio, Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi-Mahi, and Seafood special that featured scallops, shrimps, and fish. broth. The best seafoods that we had...so delicious! Foods were presented very neatly and timely. We had Warm Chocolate Cake with side of Vanilla Ice Cream for our dessert. Just right and not too heavy, not too sweet...but delicious! Mahalo to our server Donna that made our dinner experienced very special and memorable. It was an exceptional service!!!

The beach and ocean view doesn't get any better than this, especially at sunset. Absolutely amazing!!!!

Our waiter Leslie was great. Excellent wine list and great food. My wife had the seafood trio and I had the fishermen's stew. And, you're allowed to sub some of the ingredients to appeal to your taste. How many restaurant's allow that!!!!

Hapuna beach and the Coast Grill rocks!!!

Went for our Anniversay. Elizabeth was our server. Without a doubt the best waitress we've EVER had. She took such good care of us, brought me a flower for my hair, took sunset pictures of us, made excellent menu suggestions, excellent wine selection, visited with us and made us feel at home. She even asked a neighboring table if she could send their porch chop bones home to our dogs since they were staying at the hotel and we lived down the road. The music from the pool, one floor below, came up beautiful to the lanai and the music he played was perfect for dinner. The food was amazing, we had the poke nachos ( I'd go back just for these) and the fresh catch of the day. She brought us a cheese cake for dessert on a plate they had 'Happy Anniversary' written in chocolate. We will be back often!

Service was exceptional. When they immediately CORRECTLY used our last name, they had me. Our server was perfect in every way. Wonderful recommendations, never pushy, attentive as needed.... PERFECT. We sat on the patio which had a wonderful beachfront view and the live music from the downstairs bar could be heard. GREAT ambiance for sure. We loved the "create your own Poke" option. Everything we ordered wonderful. Great place!

Since we were staying at the Hapuna Prince and didn't want to drive we decided to give the Coast Grill at the hotel a try...and we're glad we did! The food was excellent. The macadamia nut crusted mahi-mahi was delicious and the New York steak was excellent! It is expensive but so are most hotel restaurants in Hawaii!
Service overall was good but there were a few slow moments we had to wait for our server to come around.....but it's ok. You're in Hawaii and the view is beautiful!

We enjoyed dining at this restaurant so much that we actually went there twice for dinner on our recent trip. Upstaging the food (which was excellent) was the staff. They couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. Elizabeth, who assisted us on our first visit was absolutely delightful. We requested a dessert that was not on the menu and she made it happen! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you want a low-key, relaxed and enjoyable culinary experience.

Surprised at the raving reviews. The setting is lovely at sunset but the food is mediocre - bread bowl tasted stale. My fish trio for nearly $40 was overcooked and nothing special. The 4 course meal for $55 was just ok. Would not go back as price is quite high. Maybe a good place for a cocktail at sunset.

This restaurant reliably uses local ingredients (also produce grown right on the property) with creativity and panache. The foods are always prepared with a light touch-- never too buttery/rich or over-seasoned. Seafood is always fresh and perfectly cooked-- I loved the Chinese-style crimson snapper and the Kauai shrimp ala plancha I ate this time. I make it a point to eat here every time I visit the Big Island!

Very overpriced! Went for NYE cause there was nothing else available. Service was slow and terrible. My son asked for mashed potatoes and got fries. Waitress brought more fries to make up for it, not mashed potatoes. We ordered Churros for desert but 10 min later told they had none left. Then got kids a cup of ice cream. Bill came and that was $9/scoop. Seriously?? Food was decent. I know there are better options out there!

Great Mai Tai nice ocean view at sunset. Ordered ahi sashimi as an appetizer and it was so bad was asked for the check. Our waitress could hardly be bothered with us and clearly didn't want to be there. The hotel is clearly hanging on by a thread. Great location with tons of potential that they are not living up to. The staff all look miserable...don't go...big changes are needed here

Sunset was fantastic, drinks and apps excellent....but that's where it went sour. My entree came 20 minutes before the rest and the rest were some hot and some had been sitting around a bit. Flavors and seasoning were actually quite good, but the kitchen execution was distracting.

Food was marginal at best as I ordered the Seafood Trio which was all over cooked and very small portions. Service was extremely slow as it was 15 min before cocktails were ordered and they didn't even arrive til after dinner arrived and one hour after we sat down. Oyster appetizer didn't even show up either so this was cancelled after we asked waitress where they were at. Only good thing I can say about place is the view is incredible on the outdoor seating. Bill for 2 drinks and 2 main dishes and my daughter ordered fish tacos was $130 which was outrageous considering the less the adequate food and terrible service for my wife - myself - 14 year old daughter. Save your money and try somewhere else.

Waitress was courteous but only to get a tip it seemed and very rushed- other waitresses services tables around me didn't seem harried. Food was great quality, fresh seafood but lacking seasoning/flavor which was disappointing for a higher end restaurant. Would recommend it for the convenience if staying at the Hapuna Beach Resort, otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way.
