Outstanding waiter (Alex), superb knowledge from a young man!
It’s simply the best and finest dining experience imaginable
Wonderful tasting menu. Each course was interesting and well prepared. Some very good wines at less than $100.
So sad to say this restaurant did not deliver the outstanding meal you would get at the former Ocean House restaurant Seasons. I would avoid dinner here and just get drinks.
The staff was superb!
Our waiter Tyler very professional and very attentive!
Dining room was very cold so not too comfortable for the length of time we were there.
Excellent food and atmosphere. There was a dress code that we were not aware. Made it a little awkward. Staff was accommodating but still awkward.
Level of service for price point or white glove dining was below par
What a fabulous evening. Everything was really perfect. I can’t say enough about how fantastic our evening at Coast was. We are from the Midwest but this place is reason alone to come back to the area. Truly fabulous.
The drive into the area is quite beautiful and pulling up to the small driveway of the Hotel itself to be greeted by a pair of very smartly dressed and professional Valets, certainly starts the evening off well. To be told that there was no tipping as “the only payment we want is your presence” was very refreshing.
The hotel is a breath of fresh air to a bygone era of large mansions and treating guests as just that – guests rather than paying customers. As we were a little early, we were greeted and directed to the bar with the promise that they would come and get us at the appropriate time (which they). We explored a few inspired cocktails from Amy's creativity.
The seating for dinner looked directly out over the water, the ambiance was muted, with just a hint of background music and the tables impeccably dressed. Great start to set the correct scene for a culinary masterpiece.
The Food was 5-star – from a Black Pepper Tagliatelle (with a ‘to die for’ smoked pork bouillon), to roast breast of duck that was so tender and full of flavor, to a Risotto that was perfectly al-dente with widely range or complex flavors. Throw in a Vacherin and a exquisitely presented Souffle and you have the perfect desserts to end. Delicate flavors throughout, very fresh ingredients, meals cooked to perfection (and I do mean that), very stylish plating and so many little touches that made the culinary experience so much more than ever hoped for.
From the serving staff, I really do have to highlight two people – Kevin our very knowledgeable and personable Sommelier, and Jillian who was always there with an enormous smile and a real dedication to service. Ask for them by name if you are at Coast; in fact demand to have them as part of your dining experience.
To find a truly gastronomic experience and old world service is rare in this area. You do pay for it but you can't begrudge the price of this kind of quality - definitely worth every penny.
Impeccable service and cuisine!!!
In a word: Outstanding! The food was incredible and the atmosphere and view were wonderful. Such a treat for a special occasion or date night. It’s hard to leave Ocean House!
I have dined at some of finest restaurants all over the country and the experience was exceptional! The view, the service, and the 4 course meal was possibly the best yet. I would highly recommend it. John Baez
The tasting menus are charming with several surprises. They also come with paired wines for a special treat. The wine/cocktail menu requires a bit of coaching.
Valentine's Day dinner. Very pleased. The Ocean House and Coast made in very memorable. Winter is a geat time to visit due to the ease of reservations.
Everything about COAST was phenomenal. The food, the service, the atmosphere. Each course was presented with a detailed explanation as to what we were eating and where it originated from. 12 out of 10 I would recommend this place to a friend.
The service was very clumsy. We did the wine-pairing and would receive our drinks for the next course when we were still eating the course in front of us. The food was good however there was much left to be desired. I recommend just going to the bar upfront and having a drink and app. Dinner isn't worth it.
Didn’t get to eat here because they wouldn’t seat us because I was wearing jeans (dressed appropriately nonetheless). Additionally, we were guests in their sister hotel. Further, they indicated they called to confirm and remind us of the dress code but never received a message. Unless I am missing something, I don’t believe it indicates the “no jeans” policy anywhere here. Was very disappointed because we had eaten at both Spicer Mansion and Weekapaug Inn and loved both.
This is fine dining at its best. Chef Jennifer Backman is a phenomenal artist. We have followed her from Weekapaug to Spicer to COAST. The presentation, flavors and freshness are an event all by themselves. Highly recommend if you know your food and want to share a perfect evening with somebody you really care about.
Our 2 hour lunch transported us into what felt like a mini vacation....
Magnificent service! (Don’t expect candles on your dessert if you are celebrating your birthday)
I've been coming for years and have enjoyed it. This time was very disappointing as we took friends for the first time and they were not impressed. We had to find our server constantly to clear our plates from the brunch which were piled up on our table. He would clear some and leave others not returning until we called him over again. We had to find him to order our meals. It seemed he took several breaks or hid out in the kitchen, not sure. It was anything but enjoyable.
Wonderful dining experience...elegant romantic leisurely exquisite service
First time visiting this place since new name new chef new somm. Would have given 4.5 stars because they're still finding their way but optimistic that this will still be an excellent restaurant we will want to continue to visit. Flavors are less subtle than in the past and one suspects she's trying a bit too hard with the foam. However the halibut with citrus butter sauce and barely cooked garden vegetables showed flawless technique and was one of the best fish courses I have ever had. Wine pairings were hit or miss but loved the steak with Chianti and lamb with Super Tuscan. Was not a fan of vodka with oyster or Riesling with scallops and corn. Setting is still the same gorgeous room with amazing view. Loved the amount of space between tables which allowed for quiet conversation. Will be back again and hope that this new crew will continue to tweak their very good product to bring this restaurant back up to their previous status as one of the best in New England.
Quite disappointing. We drove 2 hrs to get the more and actually got there 15minutes earlier than our reservation but was seated 25minutes later! Our waitress was really nice and accommodating but she had to tend many other more guests and we had to wait for her for quite sometime to cater to our orders/needs. Needs better staffing . Seating was really tight . Orange and othe fruit juice were not freshly made but came from a concentrate, which is supposed to be No-no for upscale , more so R&C grade . No access to the beach makes it even more disappointing .
Service and quality have really dropped. I'm sorry . Just an honest observation and experience.
We had read about this restaurant from the website, but thought that it was too good to be true. But it was REAL!! Wonderful service, cannot beat the view, fabulous food and just when you think you're experience is over, there are more lovely surprises. On the way out of the restaurant, after 2 wonderful hours of enjoying, the server presented us with a menu of our meal autographed by the chef and some goodies to go. A most memorable evening!!
Always a great dining experience. Creative, modern, interesting and beautifully prepared. Service is top notch but not obsequious.
Baller dining experience.
Delightful lunch with the best view! the lobster roll was outstanding! Our server was great too.
