Coast and Main Seafood and Chophouse
I informed the water guy to tell his manager that Coast and Main wait service staff should be trained to not allow the water pitcher spouts to touch the brim of the customer’s water glass. To do so could spread bacteria and viruses from one person to another. During the current COVID-19 pandemic it is imperative that Coast and Main properties demonstrate the current corporation’s policy of making all restaurants safe for all customers.
Our scallops and parmesan salmon meals were fantastic.
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We take this situation serious, and have implemented the safeguards issued by the CDC. WE will continue to do daily training to keep our guests and staff safe. We are one single location, and a small local business, which is why our guests and staff are so important to us. As the situation evolves, we will also evolve. We will not refill water tableside, instead a a carafe of water will be given to each table, so guests can pour their own
Unfortunately we were the only people in the place that night due to the COVID-19 epidemic . Okay well I don’t have enough to say to meet your 50 words requirement soooo.....
Thank you for patronizing our establishment and we hope dinner was enjoyable!
Our server in training was Mary Pat and she was great. She was very polite and knew the menus. We enjoyed that the bread service had a server come around and offer bread opposed to leaving an entire basket on the table. It definitely helped us to remain in control. I ordered the stacked beet salad which was delicious along with the lobster risotto which was very bland but after I was able to get salt and pepper it was fine. My friend got a crab cake as a starter and loved it so much that I didn’t even get to taste it 😂 For her entree, she got the shrimp scampi which did not come with enough butter sauce for the noodles, but after requesting additional sauce she enjoyed the dish. Lastly we shared a friend sundae for desert with candied bacon which was delicious. The restaurant was beautiful and very classy. I would come back again to try other dishes, hopefully more flavorful.
Excellent service and food!
Everything was fabulous from start to finish. Delicious and amazing.
it was a great birthday lunch!
Clean and comfortable atmosphere. The food was made to perfection.
Our waiter, Angelo, was so accommodating to special food requests, making sure we had all we wanted, fun to interact with and his helper Shandon was spot on with. bread, water, anything we needed and fun to talk with, open to questions! Chef Ricky made excellent food (best Salmon ever) and even came to the table to make sure everything was ok.....once again an all round excellent experience!!
We had a lovely Anniversary dinner. Food was excellent. So was the service. And so close to home.
Food was amazing and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend. You don't need to drive downtown to get high quality and great service.
We were seated at the closest table to the door, so I cannot give the restaurant ambience a fair chance. It was cold, I did notice there were other tables open that were further from the door so it would’ve been nice to be seated there.
Our server was great, and it was not her fault, but we were served our entrées and had to wait another 10 minutes or so for the side dishes. Which I sent back, because we were finished with our meals at that point. She said there was a banquet at that time, and that’s why the side dishes were backed up. Not an excuse, in my opinion. Again, I know it was not our servers fault. Because of that, I’m not sure if I would return to the restaurant. I would assume for the price, there would be more attention paid to such things.
A dressed up version of Ponderosa. Sadly the wait staff is poorly trained and uninformed on the menu, ingredients used, basic service etiquette - or at least that was our waiter. Oysters arrival day is unknown and served without the customary accoutrements such as mignonette or cocktail sauce. Not helping the inept staff is a misleading menu which I could provide example after another. The worst in my view is my lobster thermidor which arrived as a broiled tail fluffed on the shell with some crab meat topping. For anyone who has ever had thermidor, what they are serving is an insult. Bulk foodservice product warmed and served with no care or thought. I truly felt like we were getting between the staff and their Saturday night plans.
French onion soup and the sea bass were good. However the lampchops were really tiny and not flavorful. Mashed potatoes and tuna appetizer were bad.
This was our third time here and once again the food was fantastic. Although it took us a half hour longer to get a seat from our reserved time, which I somewhat expected with it being Valentine's weekend, the food and service made up for the longer wait. The Chilean Sea Bass with the Miso preparation was the best I ever had. Even better than the Hazelnut prep we had in the past. We also had Swordfish stuffed with Crab and some peppers that was also delicious. Enjoyed a bottle of Duckhorn Decoy Zinfandel that was very fairly priced. Overall an excellent dinner on a very busy night. Thank godess there is a high quality restaurant like Coast and Main in Monroeville so we don't have to travel to downtown Pittsburgh for this quality.
A wonderful evening.
Excellent service. Wonderful food. Best in Monroeville.
The food was bland. Not worth prices charged. The ambiance was dark and not inviting.
The food was good, pleasant atmosphere and our server was very professional.
Food was delicious. Service was very good. Lighting was a bit harsh above the booth we sat in. But they managed to turn it down a little.
This was our first time visiting and overall the food was pretty good. I got the crab soup and there were only a few small pieces of crab, however, the flavor was good. I also got the “16” ounce lobster tail, which actually was about 10 ounces. I was quite disappointed with the size of the tail. My wife had salmon and was very happy with it. For the price, we definitely prefer Eddie V’s or Monterey Bay.
Delicious food, great service and ambiance. Foodie delight without driving to the city!
Our Valentines Day Seafood dinner was satisfactory. However, we will not order the under-cooked stuffed shrimp entrée again. The shrimp should have been cooked perhaps two more minutes to ensure it was not “rubbery”. The Scottish Salmon entrée with parmesan crust was great. The spinach soufflé should have had twice as much spinach in it. The “The Valentine’s Day Special Dessert”, (Red Velvet cake) was a small (~4.5” diameter) round cake with too much icing and very little cake.
As ususal...outstanding service, warm reception, terrific wait staff, and delicious food. The bone marrow is a must have appetizer! Lamb chops were prepared perfectly...superb!!
We had an AMAZING Birthday Dinner for my Mother. Our waiter, The Host, and all the other employees were great! Our meals were delicious and perfectly prepared. We each had a different variation of steak and they were great. Others in the party also got salads and soups which were enjoyed. The deserts were also amazing! The White Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake was superb. To top things off, we had a piece of the Rainbow Cake which was out of this world!!
We had a very nice time - the food was great, the service was great, it's a bit expensive. We'd go back for a special occasion!
Asparagus was not good. The fingerling potatoes were bland and nothing special. The main courses were good but probably a little bit overpriced for what they are. This place is always empty. There’s something to be said for a quiet place but on Saturday at 7pm, this place was so empty it made me feel like everyone knows something about this place that I don’t and they’ve stayed away. Overall, it’s certainly good food. Better than anything else you will find in Monroeville by a long shot.
The Wedge salad was huge and delicious and included to slices of seasoned bacon and crumbled bleu cheese along with the dressing. Also had Mushroom Risotto that was very good and very hot. Our server, Victoria, was very attentive and friendly.
Very nice experience..good food & good service
Service and food were great!! Will definitely visit again.
We went for restaurant week. The food was okay. We got the filet with stuffed shrimp, 4oz of filet and two stuffed shrimp. I dont think it was worth the price and it didnt interest me in coming to see how the rest of the menu taste. The waiter seemed disinterested in giving good service and literally threw knives and plates across the table.
Went for PGH Restaurant Week - the crab bisque was incredible, truly delicious. Filet and crab stuffed shrimp, very good. The swordfish dish was also good, although the potatoes served alongside it were overcooked and bland. Creme brûlée and chocolate torte for dessert, both wonderful. Service was great and quick, very friendly.
Luckily, the food was amazing but the service was mediocre at best. The hostesses were not friendly at all. We asked if we could go to the bar as our table was not ready but they told us no with no explanation. Our waitress was not attentive or friendly. She seemed bothered when we needed something. Even though the food was fantastic I do not think we will return which is sad as it is so close to us!
This restaurant was very good. The only negative was with the front desk staff who were very standoffish and not very welcoming. Everyone else was terrific.
Went there for restaurant week. The food was good but the staff needs work. When we arrived for a 5:15 reservation at 5:00 and were told to wait in the bar so the 5:00 customers could be seated. ?? The restaurant was full of empty tables! When we were seated the waiter acted rushed and brought the incorrect wine, was unable to answer menu questions and seemed annoyed. If I was paying full price for this restaurant I would have been very disappointed. I would think you would have your waitstaff on their best behavior for an event that would bring you repeat customers. I think the management is to blame here. Will not be returning.
Food was excellent! Our server was less than average. He rarely checked on our table, but the other servers with tables nearby seemed much better. We will try it again.
I decided to try Coast and Main for Restaurant Week...so glad I did. The food, service and atmosphere was amazing. Looking forward to returning in the near future!
Had a date night with fam and friends. Wonderful experience
Great to have this very nice restaurant in Monroeville and no need to go downtown
Really great food.
We loved the special selections created for Restaurant Week. The salmon dinner and the Petrale dinner were great. Desserts were yummy too.
