Coast and Main Seafood and Chophouse
This was our third time here and once again the food was fantastic. Although it took us a half hour longer to get a seat from our reserved time, which I somewhat expected with it being Valentine's weekend, the food and service made up for the longer wait. The Chilean Sea Bass with the Miso preparation was the best I ever had. Even better than the Hazelnut prep we had in the past. We also had Swordfish stuffed with Crab and some peppers that was also delicious. Enjoyed a bottle of Duckhorn Decoy Zinfandel that was very fairly priced. Overall an excellent dinner on a very busy night. Thank godess there is a high quality restaurant like Coast and Main in Monroeville so we don't have to travel to downtown Pittsburgh for this quality.
A wonderful evening.
Excellent service. Wonderful food. Best in Monroeville.
The food was bland. Not worth prices charged. The ambiance was dark and not inviting.
Food was delicious. Service was very good. Lighting was a bit harsh above the booth we sat in. But they managed to turn it down a little.
This was our first time visiting and overall the food was pretty good. I got the crab soup and there were only a few small pieces of crab, however, the flavor was good. I also got the “16” ounce lobster tail, which actually was about 10 ounces. I was quite disappointed with the size of the tail. My wife had salmon and was very happy with it. For the price, we definitely prefer Eddie V’s or Monterey Bay.
Delicious food, great service and ambiance. Foodie delight without driving to the city!
Our Valentines Day Seafood dinner was satisfactory. However, we will not order the under-cooked stuffed shrimp entrée again. The shrimp should have been cooked perhaps two more minutes to ensure it was not “rubbery”. The Scottish Salmon entrée with parmesan crust was great. The spinach soufflé should have had twice as much spinach in it. The “The Valentine’s Day Special Dessert”, (Red Velvet cake) was a small (~4.5” diameter) round cake with too much icing and very little cake.
As ususal...outstanding service, warm reception, terrific wait staff, and delicious food. The bone marrow is a must have appetizer! Lamb chops were prepared perfectly...superb!!
We had an AMAZING Birthday Dinner for my Mother. Our waiter, The Host, and all the other employees were great! Our meals were delicious and perfectly prepared. We each had a different variation of steak and they were great. Others in the party also got salads and soups which were enjoyed. The deserts were also amazing! The White Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake was superb. To top things off, we had a piece of the Rainbow Cake which was out of this world!!
Asparagus was not good. The fingerling potatoes were bland and nothing special. The main courses were good but probably a little bit overpriced for what they are. This place is always empty. There’s something to be said for a quiet place but on Saturday at 7pm, this place was so empty it made me feel like everyone knows something about this place that I don’t and they’ve stayed away. Overall, it’s certainly good food. Better than anything else you will find in Monroeville by a long shot.
The Wedge salad was huge and delicious and included to slices of seasoned bacon and crumbled bleu cheese along with the dressing. Also had Mushroom Risotto that was very good and very hot. Our server, Victoria, was very attentive and friendly.
Very nice experience..good food & good service
Service and food were great!! Will definitely visit again.
We went for restaurant week. The food was okay. We got the filet with stuffed shrimp, 4oz of filet and two stuffed shrimp. I dont think it was worth the price and it didnt interest me in coming to see how the rest of the menu taste. The waiter seemed disinterested in giving good service and literally threw knives and plates across the table.
Went for PGH Restaurant Week - the crab bisque was incredible, truly delicious. Filet and crab stuffed shrimp, very good. The swordfish dish was also good, although the potatoes served alongside it were overcooked and bland. Creme brûlée and chocolate torte for dessert, both wonderful. Service was great and quick, very friendly.
Luckily, the food was amazing but the service was mediocre at best. The hostesses were not friendly at all. We asked if we could go to the bar as our table was not ready but they told us no with no explanation. Our waitress was not attentive or friendly. She seemed bothered when we needed something. Even though the food was fantastic I do not think we will return which is sad as it is so close to us!
This restaurant was very good. The only negative was with the front desk staff who were very standoffish and not very welcoming. Everyone else was terrific.
Went there for restaurant week. The food was good but the staff needs work. When we arrived for a 5:15 reservation at 5:00 and were told to wait in the bar so the 5:00 customers could be seated. ?? The restaurant was full of empty tables! When we were seated the waiter acted rushed and brought the incorrect wine, was unable to answer menu questions and seemed annoyed. If I was paying full price for this restaurant I would have been very disappointed. I would think you would have your waitstaff on their best behavior for an event that would bring you repeat customers. I think the management is to blame here. Will not be returning.
Food was excellent! Our server was less than average. He rarely checked on our table, but the other servers with tables nearby seemed much better. We will try it again.
I decided to try Coast and Main for Restaurant Week...so glad I did. The food, service and atmosphere was amazing. Looking forward to returning in the near future!
Had a date night with fam and friends. Wonderful experience
Great to have this very nice restaurant in Monroeville and no need to go downtown
Really great food.
We loved the special selections created for Restaurant Week. The salmon dinner and the Petrale dinner were great. Desserts were yummy too.
First time there and it was a good experience. The bartender and waitress were wonderful. Great service and personable. The food was good! The hostess could be more polished and welcoming.
Our group always selects a new restaurant to try for Pittsburgh Restaurant Week. Coast and Main has been on our list. The food was wonderful. Our only complaint was our service was not matching the food and the ambience. Maybe he was having an off day but it at times, it seemed like we were an inconvenience. The gentleman who passed around the bread was super nice and personable. He should be a waiter. Overall, we enjoyed the evening and would definitely return. We just wish our server was a little more personable and genuine.
Excellent restaurant in every aspect. Went there for the 1st time this week with my wife and we both loved it. Food was superb and atmosphere was very nice.
My reservation was for 7. I arrived ten minutes early and was quickly told they were running behind on reservations and yet I saw at least 7 empty tables. Went to the bar to get a drink and wait for my table and I stood there for almost 15 minutes before the bartender took my order. I order there mussels and there was zero both. Ordered to steaks and one with no seasoning. Steak came out dressed in red wine and seasoned. The waitress said they made a mistake and wanted to know if she should take it back and scrape off the seasoning and reheat?? Then the icing on the cake was the crem brûlée. The sugar was burned to a crisp and a 1/4 in thick and literally no filling. And I mean no filling. The place is a joke and probably the worst dining experience I ever had.
loved the food and the service. will definitely be back.
Super slow service, average food for the price, couldn't cook either of our steaks right. Well done came with pink and medium came rare with the middle barely warm. Wouldn't go again, better options throughout Pittsburgh
Robin was great! Knowledgeable regarding the full menu and restaurant week menu. My steak was cooked perfectly and diner was timed perfectly. We will be back!
Great place! It was simple to find also. I would go there to eat even if it were not Pittsburgh Restaurant Week.
Was a nice surprise food and service was top notch
We selected this restaurant for restaurant week..... started off ok but got progressively worse. The lobster bisque was good but could’ve been warmer, I didn’t complain. They ran out of baguette for bread service and when they returned the bidder neglected one of our party’s request he just walked away. The meals came ... I ordered a med-rare filet with shrimp, it was well done. So I started eating the sides that we ordered which were served at room temperature, I didn’t complain because I was already frustrated with the steak. The re-cooked steak came out Seared rare.... the manager came over with a re-cook which was ok and explained to me how difficult it was to cook such a small steak as did the server...... So moving forward to the end of the meal, the server never asked us if we needed separate checks and didn’t give us a chance we waited an unacceptable amount of time for him to come back and take care of the issue
I will say our food was prepared very well and our server was quite nice and helpful, I was disappointed with all of the crumbs on the table, the dirty place mat and the dirt in the booth. I had to polish my knife before I could use it to remove all of the water spots.
Restaurant week fail. Mashed potatoes and salmon? Tasteless filet and shrimp. Wish we had a time machine.
Coast and Main participated in Pittsburgh restaurant week which is the reason we went there. Unfortunately, the dishes we selected were both served with a large amount of mashed potatoes which were bland. Mashed potatoes are probably the laziest side you can make if you’re a restaurant. Our waiter was very busy so he never asked us how we are doing or if we wanted coffee with dessert. Speaking of dessert, the flourless cake should be referred to as the tasteless cake
Angelo was an excellent waiter. Food was very good for restaurant week.
Very nice setting! Place was clean and service was great! Food was delicious.
