   My wife and I had eaten here before and enjoyed it immensely. So when our friend and his wife needed a place to celebrate his birthday, we suggested 236 Coast. We were so disappointed! While the service and ambience were good, we had problems with several of the dishes. In the main course department, the two men both had the steak, which was cooked as requested, but the potatoes which accompanied the steak were gritty. That is really unusual for potatoes! My wife had the scallops, which were also gritty and we had to ask the server what the base material was under the scallops. My guess was polenta but it turned out to be potato gnocchi or, as my wife described it "like a hockey puck" - ie too dry. We wound up ordering a side dish of mashed potatoes (which were delicious, by the way) instead. Our friend had the wahoo, which she thought was too fishy-tasting. Moving on to dessert, both the men had the bread pudding. While the cherry-based sauce was rich and delicious, the pudding itself was too dry and served luke-warm. We can recommend the apricot creme brûlée, which was very good but, overall, for a meal which cost over $200 per couple, this was very disappointing and it would be hard to recommend to friends.

    Great menu, 9options for wine pairing or not is a great thing to offer. Appetizers were lollipop Lamb chops our Personal favs. The pork belly main dish was amazing , crispy and paired with wonderful sides and sauces was amazing. Scallops on top of crispy polenta was a treat love the combo! I

    First time for Sunday Brunch for us and Coast 236 did not disappoint! Very nice, varied menu and dishes were beautifully served. Our server, Matt, was very attentive, friendly and fun. He is a keeper! We have dined at Coast on several dinner occasions and once again, chef did a beautiful job with brunch. So glad you are open in the winter!

    For New Years Eve we chose the tasting menu once again and were not disappointed; it included lobster and tenderloin. The other courses were delicious as well using wonderful food blends for flavoring, and gluten free!

    This is a very sophisticated spot in rustic Saugatuck. We had the set 6 course dinner with wine pairings...truly memorable. Service people were knowledgeable but not stuffy. We highly recommend Coast 236.

    We drove 45 miles simply to experience this wonderful restaurant again. It did not disappoint. Greeted at the door, escorted to our table, and our server arrived almost immediately just to make sure we were okay. Fabulous drinks, amazing appetizer (Tuna Crudo), and our entrees were spot on once again. Dessert of ricotta with spiced apples and a drizzle of honey was simplistic but nuanced. Perfect end to our meal. Smiled as we walked through town and on our way home. Thank you Coast 236! See you again soon!

    A huge improvement over the past iteration. I had the Wahoo and would have preferred it to be more rare - but I know that most people like it that way. Nonetheless, it was kind of dry and a sauce would have been appreciated. Also, the coconut gelato was kind of boring - which is fine - but the diced apples were also kind of boring. Maybe caramelize them? All of the food (even these minor observations) was outstanding. The waiter was excellent and the ambience was pleasant (we were overlooking the courtyard). Minor criticisms - it was a very nice evening. Thank you!

    Food was great - app - lamb lollipops, scallops with foie gras and pork belly with bacon cabbage & butternut squash - all perfectly prepared! Appreciated the suggested wine pairings! Would definitely eat here again.
