FUN / ENERGETIC
AWESOME FOOD AND STAFF
We were seated 45’ after our actual reservation, and each course from the 5 course tasting took another 40-60’. When I went to ask for an update on the third course I was told I could leave if I didn’t like it.
Food is generally great but they have some logistics and customer service aspects to figure out.
Excellently conceived, prepared and presented tasting menu. Delicious and creative without being contrived. Disappointingly, wine pairings not up to the same standard as the food.Very relaxed setting but very loud. Detracts from the experience.
I went right when Coarse opened ~2 years ago and thought it was phenomenal! At that point the tasting menu was quite a bit less expensive, so that's the only reason I feel like I'm not getting as good of a deal now. But it's certainly an exclusive and delicious spot for a date night or a place to go with friends when you're looking to start the evening off right!
Booked a 6pm pre- theater dinner, finding the description of “farm to table” and “spontaneous tasting” intriguing. Greeted with a splash of Prosecco, the meal was exciting from start to finish, from hamachi cruditee with avacado and clear ginger broth, white asparagus with white truffle, a perfectly cooked scallop with sun choke chips and purée, ravioli with creamy buratta and mushroom, duck with chestnut and blackberry-red wine reduction, to a small almond pot de creme. Accompanying wines for each course enhanced the experience. The space is small but fairly comfortable, with white stone walls and fun art work - large informally hung photos, many with graffiti-like text boldly running across the images. Staff were relaxed but attentive. Only drawback was the extreme noise level, and open front door on a somewhat dank evening. Look forward to a return visit
I did NOT realize that this was a prefix menu of $100. Great experience otherwise.
Unbelievable food and pairing! They had an amazing music mix going and we had a great time overall.
Coarse NYC was fantastic. This was my second time going and the food was just as good as I remembered it, if not better! My favorite course was the burrata ravioli (my friend across from me ranked her favorite as the duck and said it was the best thing she's ever eaten). At the end of the night the kitchen staff gave me signed artwork, which was so kind. Can't wait to return!
I had dinner at Coarse with a friend while working in the area knowing nothing about the place when we walked in. We had the most amazing meal and service. I remember every course which is not something I usually do. Thoughtful & unique menu. Great wines. Excellent value. Fun sound mix. Right up there in my top ten for food, and I've eaten in a lot of wonderful restaurants. I'm going back this Sunday on Mother's Day with my mom, husband and some friends because I want to spread the joy.
Went here for my birthday and had an amazing experience. The service was so friendly and informative with every course and the food and wine pairings were exceptional!
Wonderful - don't need to wait for special occassion. $99 5 or 6 course seemed pricey - but not when get 5 glasses of wonderful wines paired.
Amazing experience. The tasting menu was outstanding!
The food was outstanding, the wine was okay (a little hot and miss but very generous) however the music was incredibly loud such that we had to shout our orders to the waitress... Having said that, they did turn it down after we complained. Overall a very good dinner once the music was fixed. I would go back
i will not write 50 words, excellent food, i would need more comfort in the restaurant, food worth it
So awesome. Loved the chill environment but the AMAZING mystery tasting menu. It was such a fun and delicious culinary experience. The chefs and wait staff were super friendly, accommodating, and thoughtful. I almost don't want to recommend it for fear too many others will become aware and ruin the experience :)
Excellent food (if only it were a little more), excellent wines (and generous servings), hip relaxed ambiance, and no need to worry about what to order cause they keep the good food & drinks coming ‘spontaneously’.
Post wedding lunch. Absolutely delicious!
I found a gem in the middle of the west village. My guest and I had the most amazing culinary experience. We had the $99 tasting menu with pairing wine and it was like being in a museum for the senses! Not only the quality of the food and the originality of the plates are outstanding, but the whole ambience was great. The hostess and waiters were very helpful and even the chef came to our table to check up on us.
I will be going back to Coarse with more friends and family. This place will not leave anyone indifferent!
go easy on the wine! Some food is incredible, 2 of our 6 courses, 2 very good, and 2 average.
An overall excellent experience! From the welcoming and well-informed staff to the beautifully prepared and presented dishes and expertly selected wines, we had a truly wonderful and un-rushed evening. A great value considering the quality (and quantity) of the dishes and wine. Highly recommended.
I told to host that I had a nut allergy and I received 2 dishes with nuts! Luckily they tell you what is in the dish when it is served to you.
Amazing. Wine pairing on point. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had. Excellent, friendly service. Will be back.
One of the best tasting menus I’ve ever had. Unbelievable value!
Dinner with friends, had an absolutely fantastic time. Service was outstanding, just like the food. We had somewhere around 8 courses from the tasting menu, and the execution was great. Only letdown were the two last dessert dishes that felt unnecessary and slightly heavy handed and dense in succession with the other dishes, but it was still one of the best meals we’ve ever had! Definitely worth a visit!
The service was outstanding. The staff was VERY attentive to us.
There were 2 options. Can't remember them but take the 1 with more food. It was delicious. Only bad thing was that the dessert was only ok. The wines were superb except 1 that tasted like cough medicine but my friend liked it.
We really enjoyed this, from the opening glass of bubbles right on through the second desert! A wide variety of interesting and flavorful food, combined with well-paired drinks. I will say that if you are anywhere near a light-weight with regard to alcohol (like me), do not let them refill your wine glass every time they ask, particularly early in the meal. That way, you will remember what desert was. Highly recommended and a very good value. Very nice service too.
We came across this place after spending a day at the Chelsea Market (just a few blocks away) and could not have had a better dining experience. Upon arrival, our greeting was friendly, relaxed, and included some lovely bubbly. The waitstaff was attentive and went out of their way to provide us with excellent food, wine, and service all around. The chef was creative and catered to our needs, while progressing us through our meal with perfection. The $99 tasting menu complete with wine pairings was a fantastic value while keeping us excited and, at times, near tears of pure joy. It was a memorable evening which we’ll be telling our friends and families about for years to come.
We had a wonderful time, the food and wine were both delicious.
The perfect amount of food, especially for a tasting. Inspired, delicious, just fabulous.
Try it. Been living in NYC for 2 years now and this is the best date spot i've been. We were warmly greeted by the hostess with two cool glass of white wine, and the chef shortly thereafter to discuss food preferences. Food, wine, & ambiance - Coarse checked every box for a fair price of $120/head. Will be back.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking to show someone a good time in NYC or to someone who is trying to go on a date. I had a friend in town from London and had not been here before. Took a risk based on the reviews and it paid off MASSIVELY. It was my friend's highlight of the trip.
Food is spectacular and you never know what is coming. The chef is incredibly friendly and caters to all of your dietary restrictions. The wine pairings... Wow! They pair so well with the food and they are more than happy to re-pour if your glass is running low.
Overall such a fun time and the staff and food are incredible. Must go!
Amazing food. I got offered even a glass of sparkling wine when I arrived and they have a nice little waiting area. Cool vibes.
Had to wait around 30 minutes to be seated for our 9pm reservation, but the hosts were so kind and kept us cheery on champagne. We had the standard $99 prix fixe meal and beverage pairing and it was excellent.
Small-bite, decadent courses of food mixed with
more generous pours of wine in an amazing ambiance make Coarse a perfect date spot in the West Village.
Great experience, food was delicious! Attentive sommelier/hostess.
Run by great people
A place that really gets hospitality
So excellent. Really great, and relatively affordable, tasting menu.
Was overboekt, een 40 tal min in het gangpad gestaan
Het eten is wel echt lekker maar het is er zo luid dat je elkaar nauwelijks verstaat. Dus geen echt ontdpannende avond. 500 dollar voor 4 personen!!
The food was excellent and the wine pairing was perfect. The wait staff was very good. The owner was a little gruff in his mannerisms. When the restaurant filled up, it was a little noisy. Value of the dinner was worth it.
I would absolutely recommend the restaurant.
Did the $99 tasting menu, and it was great top to bottom—creative, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The fact that it came with a wine pairing for each course made it a great value (I swear we had $99 worth of wine alone). Service was also excellent - very friendly, attentive, and informative staff. Having a free glass of sparkling wine while you wait for your table was a great touch as well. Really great place, but very small, so book in advance.
