Stylish and cosy with rustic décor and down-to-earth staff, the Coach House restaurant and bar in Brighton is a favourite with locals for everything from parties and Sunday roasts to wedding receptions and business meetings. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere here is second to none, and you will immediately feel at home here in the restaurant which is located on Middle Street. Ideal for al fresco dining, the terrace has plenty of plants and lamps, and the dining room is a wonderful escape on wintry nights. The modern Euro menu is impressive – we recommend the pigeon and lentil salad with parsnip crisps and a red wine jus; and the salmon fillet with tarragon sauce and sautéed new potaoes.

I've given it a zero rating as , having booked a few days prior, and received 2 confirmation emails, when we arrived the place was closed. Building rubble in the courtyard and the doors padlocked. What a disappointment. Not impressed

The restaurant has been closed due to bankruptcy for weeks, which your website regretted to advise me of so my business colleagues had to find somewhere else to take our clients for lunch! Not the greatest first impression!

This is Close and you did not tell me. And it was for my Partners Birthday. So we were not happy. Don’t think I will just Open table again

I came here for a lovely valentines meal. The open fire was very romantic and food was good. A shame the Food was just warm but not very hot, very delicious still. We were seated in the front room which was not next to the fire and was quite cold and then moved to a table by the fire place to finish drinks which was nice a warming. Would recommend asking for a table by the fireplace on very cold days. Overall nice experience and would come back

Nice decor and ambience but food very average. We booked for Sunday lunch and for a time were the only ones in the restaurant but our table of 6 received 5 of the meals ordered and an apology for one that had somehow been omitted from the order. The last meal a roast chicken lunch came through some 15 minutes later. Those in our party who had the roast beef thought it reasonably tasty. Two with mackerel were served two small pieces of warm not hot mackerel with a tiny portion of cubed potatoes. Dessert was delicious particularly the chocolate fondant. There was no attempt however to remove the service charge from the bill despite the omission with the roast chicken. Tip:Go for the dessert and pleasant surroundings only.

We waited almost an hour for 3 steaks and a salmon dish. When the food arrived it was cold. Compared to the steak dishes the salmon accompaniment was a tiny portion. We complained about the food, which the staff offered to heat but we were so hungry by then and did not want it microwaved so we just ate it. The staff were nice enough but at these prices I expect a far more invested service - they didn't even offer to take our coats. I took family on a rare visit from Ireland and London. I will not use this restaurant again, a disappointing and embarrassing experience.

We were impressed by the quality of ingredients. Very friendly staff and nice interior. We enjoyed our evening very much.
