This restaurant is a little gem and a remarkable bargain. The food was delicious and the portions large. The owner explained about the some of dishes from the region of Vietnam where he is from.

After reading a great review in the Sac Bee we wanted to try this restaurant. We went for dinner at 6:45. The restaurant closes at 9:00. Unfortunately they were out of the batter to make banh xeo and also out of the water fern cakes. Our host was very personable and friendly, however, another employee was clearly anxious to leave at 8:00. He was cleaning the table behind us and spraying a cleaner that had an odor which took away from our meal. Service was prompt and efficient but I felt rushed. When we got ready to leave the employee was sitting in the dining area looking at his phone and I just felt like they wanted us to leave. I’ll give it another chance as the food wasn’t bad and hopefully I’ll be able to try the banh xeo.

The tables weren't cleaned properly, my table was sticky. The cleanser the buss boy used, some solvent in a bottle, was the same stuff janitors use in urinals in the men's restroom. Not a good smell to have before setting down to eat. The food was not spicy enough, the ambiance did not scream Viet Nam. It ended up being just another Asian restaurant.
Making reservations on line is a good idea and it was very easy to do, however, I didn't see the need for that by what I found. It was sort of a let down. Maybe I was expecting too much because of the reservation requested by the restaurant.
Since it is not close enough to me in my neighborhood, I probably won't be going back there any time soon.
