Reserved table for two 6:00pm, of which was a birthday celebration for my husband. At that time of evening, I would certainty think the service would have been exceptional? We gave the food server sufficient amount of time to place our order and time the food. ( I am former waiter) Drinks took awhile. We ordered an appetizer. Then ordered the entrees 20 minutes later. I ordered a salad to start, and then the entrees. The dinner came in 10 minutes- with the salad? My husband ordered sirloin steak, but ended up with Lamb. I ordered a pumpkin ravioli, but got a different kind. I did not complain, but I had to track down food server to advise that my husband was brought the wrong item. The Food Server apologized and brought the correct entrée to him after about 20 minutes. I waited to eat my pasta as not to be rude to my husband. We had ordered a fruit plate for my husband previously which came with a lonely candle on it. A gentleman came over to apologize, but did not identity himself. I asked him if he was the Manager. He said yes. He advised that they had taken off my husband's entrée, and birthday fruit plate, from the check. They also gave us a 20% discount on the check. A nice gesture. Food Server was OK, but she was really "green". A nice place for late night drinks or finger food, but not recommended for a real restaurant experience.
Server was very chipper and nice! Awesome cocktails as well !!
We have gone here many times for dinner, but mostly to see a show. The past few times it's to see Peter Mac as Judy Garland! One of the most amazing shows, ever.
Perfect for what I was looking for. Brian and Joe are a wonderful duo and I'll be recruiting friends to go and sing whenever they are playing.
Club Cafe is a great place to be with the LGBTQ community in Boston. These days it is difficult to find a place like Club Cafe. Where else can one go to play Drag Bingo?? The food is great as is the service.
Great food and wonderful service. The live entertainment, With A Twist, was excellent. We had a really special night! Thank you!
We chose Club Cafe for our Valentine's Day dinner because it's one of our favorite places in Boston. We have been going to Club Cafe since the late 80s and it has a consistently good reputation. We reserved a table in the Napoleon Room especially for the entertainment. On Saturday night of Valentine's weekend, Brian and Mary were performing and they were wonderful. The food and service were very good as was the entertainment. We had a lovely night despite the sub-zero temperatures outside. We highly recommend Club Cafe!
The food was alright nothing I'd rush back for but it was decent. The service was a little on the slow side.
First time here. Food was very good, drink was excellent. Club was fun!
The waiter was amazing and very attentive! Food was pretty good!
Wonderful time. The Golden Girls production was excellent - very entertaining. Into the bar after to watch the Pats. Then to dinner which was very good. Menu has a good variety and the service was excellent. Plan to go back and enjoy more of both the entertainment and the dining.
We were there to see the Golden Girls Show and ate while waiting for it to begin. The food was surprisingly good. We tried several entrees and apps and each was quite tasty.
Service was not up to par as previous visits. Reservation didn't seem to matter in getting a table neat time requested.
We were two for new year diner. We reserved for 8pm. It Began well, good food, Nice music. But at 9h30 the waiter told us we had to leave because the table was reserved after us.... It was not mentionned on the réservation . I asked twice if we could order the dessert and the answer was No! So business is business. Not very class acting:) we came from Montreal especially...!
The young woman wait staffer was incredible
Very attentive without being a nuisance. Always had a GENUINE smile on her face.
Club Cafe delights from the minute you walk in the doorway. Great service, delicious food, attention to detail in presentation and offerings. Even though a private party reserved the dining room, everything was terrific in the lounge area.
Was there on a Saturday night, three in our party, after attending a show there. When we checked in 15 minutes early for our dinner, we asked if we could sit in a certain area, we were told no as a private event was going on, then we were told yes and shown to the requested area. Our waiter frequently disappeared & was gone for long stretches of time, the table next to us was seated after us, yet recieved food, drinks, check, etc. before us. The food itself was mediocre when it finally appeared, crab cakes arrived with burnt edges & little flavor, two of our meals- one chicken dish & one pork, had an attractive presentation, but again little flavor. I have always found the food uneven here, but this time was the worst. Between the quality & service, I would say don't go there to eat, just drink and enjoy the entertainment.
The Mediterranean hummus plate was delicious as was the flat bread pizza. The place was very vibrant and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I would definitely return for dinner and a show.
So glad we chose Club Cafe for our Thanksgiving Dinner! We loved the ambiance and easy going atmosphere. The buffet was fantastic and it was easy to hold a conversation as the noise level there was very civilized. Thanks a million - from the Lonely Hearts Club Diners! xxox
Thought the mashed potatoes were kind of mushy. Wanted a second choice of meat. Some guy was slicing just the fatty part of a roast beef kind of like so no one would have any. No utensils at the buffet for people at the bar. Enjoy the regular buffet more for half the price.
This was my third straight year of partaking in the Club Café Thanksgiving Buffet. The food and the variety is satisfactory and it is really good value for the money.
We've been going to Club Cafe since it first opened and it continues to be great. This time, we started with well done specialty drinks, in the bar, with a very capable waiter, Nick. Later, we joined friends to celebrate a birthday. Our dinner waiter, Dennis, was just great about explaining, giving us time to review the options, taking our orders and following up while not being overbearing. He provided a nice surprise dessert for our birthday boy. We'll keep going back because it's a great experience.
I have had dinner at Club Café several times while attending performances of the Golden Girls and Judy Garland. The food was very good, reasonably priced. Wait staff attentive. Entertainment mentioned is fantastic. Recommend to all for dining and entertainment. I have had the salmon which was the best I have had in a while. My dinner companion had the fish and chips and said it was very good. Nice crust on the fish.
What I like about the place is that you may dine outside the entertainment area and then go to the show or you can dine in the same room as the entertainment. Hard liquor, beer and wine available.
I was present on Sunday, November 9, 2015 for the brunch. Excellent selection of items. There were choices for all. Food was very good. Would recommend brunch!! Reasonably priced.
We went to Club Cafe to hear our friends sing on the Monday Cabaret series. We were delightfully surprised at the delicious food and wonderful service. We especially enjoyed the mushroom/spinach ravioli.
A perfect place for allies and members of the GLBTQ community. Safe, clean, great food, good service, fair prices.
Our night: 5 PM dinner with my nieces. Over dinner, we could see and hear the rehearsal of a drag show (sans costumes.) By the end of dinner, there was a bar full of people starting their Saturday night and full tables awaiting the show.
Food includes bar-food favorites, some veggie selections, lots of side vegetables.
The buffet brunch at Club Cafe is a great deal at $17 or so...but the quality of food is not worth it. Only about half of it is made there...Most of it (all baked goods, quiche, etc) is clearly purchased at Costco or something. The stuff that is made there is not exactly fresh unless you get there first thing. It all seems tired, dried out, and not appetizing at all. Disappointing.
Club Cafe is a neigborhood institution being in the same spot for well over 30 years. It is pleasing to the eye with amiable and competent staff, good food at a reasonable price and a very varied clientele. I'm never disappointed when I meet good friends there as I know it will be a wonderful time.
Not the most extensive menu but there is a great selection.
Service wash a bit slow. I had to go look for my waiter a couple of times. Food was good. Portions were great, esp for Restaurant Week
The Buffet has been suspended. The new A La Carte Menu is mostly Breakfast. Quality and quantity are good; however, Club Cafe is famous for its Buffet and that is what draws people. What was surprising was that my Open Table Reservation made from home did not go thru. When I filed a complaint thru Member Services I was told it was made at the Restaurant and therefore didn't earn points. I have sent my Confirmation email to Member Services proving it was made prior to going. Unless this is resolved I would caution anyone from booking Club Cafe with Open Table. As a long time user of Open Table this is the first time I have had this problem.
Awesome food from fruits to desserts. Great service and environment!
We went for Easter Brunch. We arrived earlier than our reservation, but the host was able to seat us quickly. Perhaps it was because we were arriving at the end of brunch, but everything on the buffet seemed picked over. They were out of bacon and there were empty pie plates at the dessert section - I would expect things to be either replenished or cleared And we never saw our waiter again after the drinks were brought out. That being said, the food tasted fine and there was a good variety of stuff (ham, smoked salmon, eggs hollandaise, etc.).
I enjoyed the Supper by Sunset special and got a delicious salmon filet meal. My server was attentive and swift. The scene is lively and energetic. I have also enjoyed the cabaret open mikes with many fine professional singers and aspiring amateurs in the Napoleon Lounge piano room.
I made reservations for two but at the last minute a friend came along and the restaurant accommodated us with ease. The brunch is buffet style. There was a wide range of choices along with dessert. We all thought our meals were delicious. I will return soon for brunch.
...which was great! Unfortunately, the food was just ok. Salmon was pretty good but chicken penne was very bland. I wouldn't go for the food, but the drinks were great.
Really doesn't get better than this...everything about Club Cafe is just wonderful. The atmosphere, the food, the music, the Manager, Jim, the waiters...everything...just love it.
The food is not terrific. Very low quality, and not well done. They could do better, much better.
Club Café is a cool and unique club. Aside from a great place to dine, it has different rooms so whether you want to catch a game on TV, or listen to live music or hang at the bar chatting with any of the friendly and engaging bartenders you can take your pick or do it all. They were also very flexible at Brunch in handling our large group that kept changing in size. Thank you Jim!
Food was very good. Great selection of food and cocktails. Just wished there was a way to ensure the Napoloeon Room was were you could sit and have dinner with the performer.
Where else in Boston can you find a restaurant that has been in the same hands for over 30 yrs and that is consistent in its changing menu items, quality of food and excellent Ambiance! Great for an event, a first time date or a casual late night repast!!
