Busy Sunday afternoon at this beachside hotel. Refurbished since last visit, it looks great. Very good layout. we booked for the dining room (recommend booking on a Sunday as it was busy). It was quite noisy with the group tables, kids, and live music from the adjoining open bar area. The potato scallops with promised chicken salt and vinegar were lacking a trace of either condiment. The burger was very good, and the prawn pasta although tasty was a little dry. Great selection of beers on tap.
A busy night for the hotel but sadly food a little lacking. Over cooked steak and meals that arrived much later than others. A great local hotel but not the best experience this time with interstate guests.
We love it here, come straight off the beach or dress up, the food is awesome and so are the staff
Staff totally disinterested, no manners, quiet rude. This is really a very, very basic Hotel/pub pretending to be a trendy boutique bistro. It is not! only because it is the only pub in the area is why there are people there. the menu is limited and food fair in quality and taste.
This web site is not effective - why book on this website and take time entering comments on where you want to sit etc when the staff dont read it?
I will never go there again and have told many friends
Perfect for families with young children.
I was surprised at the high quality of the food. We had a hot lunch and the fish and meat were cooked to perfection and very tasty. . The only disappointment was the dessert. Only 2 choices and not good. The room was large and we ate indoors because it was too hot to sit outdoors but indoors was more
formal and we were celebrating with friends who had their wedding anniversary. We booked online but there was plenty of room both inside and out. We will be returning.
The atmosphere was good and the location was fine.
I found the food was only average and did not seem good value for money. The wine in particular and the beer was to my mind overpriced and very poor value for money.
I would not recommend this hotel to my friends
I'm a big fan of the Clovelly and the food is great, well priced and fast. However, we had a teen birthday party there on a Monday night. They had warned us they already had a large booking but I think 30 extra people turned up. Consequently the service was not that great. I ended up stacking my own table's plates after waiting 45 minutes for them to be collected. They brought the birthday cake out and there were still leftover mains everywhere. The manager was dismissive and a bit rude.
We had such a lovely afternoon and being a Tuesday was quiet. The garden area is comfortable and on a warm day a perfect place for a relaxing lunch with friends. The service was excellent, thank you Hanna, and the food beautiful. We would definitely visit again.
Second time back for lunch and the food is just so YUM! great selection on the menu.. The snapper and greens was so good and everyone enjoyed their meals.
Very disappointing. Given the prices the service was very poor. We went with our family for a birthday dinner & had to order food at the bar. We had to queue in the same line as people ordering drinks. Given the shortage of staff for a Friday night, this took a long time. We then had to queue again to order dessert. The whole evening felt disjointed. The food on the whole was average.
Can't fault the Cloey Bistro. Everything on the menu is done well. Good variety of kids' meals so everyone goes home well fed. Staff are great, accommodating, helpful, no pretence. Food comes quickly. My only suggestion is that when a band is playing it would be great if they could shut the doors to the bistro, but it's not a deal breaker.
This hotel provides nutritious, well prepared and presented dishes for lunch and dinner. Service is friendly and attentive. Quite reasonable value for money. However, you need to dine at the right time. It can be excessively noisy on some occasions and the garden area has the capacity to attract a not so positive element of persons who know neither how to dress appropriately nor behave with the comfort of others in mind eg, eating with other's noisy, dirty, pets!!!
This was our first time to the 'new' Cloey. Very family friendly, great food and a nice atmosphere. Will definitely recommend and also very likely to go back again.
All was good except for the waitress who took our order, she really needs to work on her customer service skills. She was so rude we were quite stunned. Blunt, unfriendly, unhelpful and unable to crack a smile.
Loved the online booking service and the personalised reserved signs when we arrived.
We had a group of 18 and the menu catered well for all adults and children. Meals were reasonably priced, well presented and delicious! There was a nice vibe in the dining area.
We've "rediscovered" our old favourite, Clovelly Hotel.
Very disappointed with the service. The menu needs to be revised to indicate entree/main. All food came out together except for the oysters. We were told that the staff should have asked us. Although we all thought it was fairly obvious.
Not an enjoyable experience considering it was one of the best steaks I've eaten out in a long while
Indifferent service, and they wanted to put us where they wanted to put us.
Unfortunately when we ordered the machine was playing up and 45 mins after we ordered we still hadn't received our oysters. We spoke with the supervisor who was wonderful and quickly organised for the meals to be delivered and bought a drink for us due to the misunderstanding. This was handled extremely well and despite the wait it was all smooth sailing from then on.
My grilled snapper was ok but it was sitting on a bed of waterlogged greens.
My daughter chose the cheese burger from the children's menu. She couldn't eat it as it was smothered with mayonnaise. We scrapped it off and had enough to fill a dish from the dip plate. I took a photo of it which I would like to attach.
Why use mayo on the children's burger and not tomato sauce? How many kids prefer mayo? Or at least couldn't they be given a choice?
