The meals were creative and daring in their combinations. We got a generous half bottle of a sparkling wine that cost the equivalent of one glass, and the wine was sensational. The server was super nice, and the atmosphere was very casual. It was among the best chicken and waffles I've ever had, and my partner loved the smoked pork chop.

We went for restaurant week and had the special menu. It looked like we were the first ones there, but after 6:30 it was packed. The 3 course meal was more than enough food. We enjoyed the salami, chicken and waffles and the C&H burger is delicious! Our server was also great about checking in on us every so often.

Tried Clove and Hoof for Oakland Restaurant Week. Pretty cool concept. As it was our first time, we got a complimentary sampler of their charcuterie. It's not typically my thing, but was actually quite good. We ordered the burger and fries. Best burger I've had in years! In fact, it was a double burger. Sooo good I couldn't finish my fries (also hasn't happened in years). I'll definitely go back.

Monday night and it as pretty packed! We had carrots, fries, ribeye, fried chickn, gnocchi. Great gnocci (although I wasn't a fan of the orange zest) and ribeye. The chicken itself was good, but the waffle was cold. Fries were ok, nothing to rave about. The music is too loud. All in all a nice time with friends

Great joint for red meat lovers (WHO report? what WHO report?). Charcuterie dish rocked. Had super high hopes for the cheese steak, which was good but just not as good as expected. (Mushrooms were confusing in a cheese steak.)

Though they've been serving lunch for about a year, we were told that they'd only been serving dinner for about a month when we visited. We dined at 5 pm, so I can't comment on noise levels during prime dinner time, but we found it easy to hear each other. Our server was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and knew how to pay just the right amount of attention to us. This is a "butchery," so the menu revolves around meat. They have cultivated relationships with bay area farms, all meat is natural and prime, and servings are generous. (I think they also sell meat at the counter). The burgers were world class, fries some of the best we've had.

This was our first time at Clove and Hoof. We were originally thinking of it for dinner but when we looked at the dinner menu we decided it was too casual (mostly sandwiches) so we decided on lunch instead. We both ordered cheesesteak sandwiches along with the beef tallow fries. The fries were very good, the sandwiches were meaty, but not as tasty as we would have liked. The cheese overwhelmed the beef taste and it was not a pleasant result. My husband also purchased some lamb chops from the case. They were not as good as chops we purchase from other butchers. All in all we were disappointed in the food provided.
