This was the perfect place to celebrate my Mom’s 70th Birthday party. The tea selection was amazing (Harney & Sons). The staff was very accommodating to special diets). My favorite sandwich was the tomato basil and my favorite sweet treat was the dairy free lemon bar. At the end of our tea the owner cam out and presented my mom with a special cupcake. Beautiful place, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Thank you for spoiling us!!!

It is ALWAYS a totally delightful experience on EVERY level.
Eye candy everywhere, each bite of the carefully prepared and artfully presented food wonderful, and amazing tea.
I love to hear the Tea Talk as I enjoy it and learn so much.
The Nolder’s are amazing and talented people and interacting with them is one of the best features!
We will be back again and again.... and I will continue to bring my family and friends! Love it! Deserves the very best rating out there!!

I loved the décor and the service was excellent. My only complaint would be that the price is a little high compared to other tea houses I have gone too. I am sure I will return though. The food was good, and as I said, the service was excellent.

It was a fun outing with my mom. The choices of tea and explanations were great. The desserts and scones were awesome. The strawberry soup was... Weird. I wasn't a fan of the sandwiches. My mom didn't like the flavor of tea that she picked but we didn't know she could change until at the very end... Oh well. They let you take the tea with you, That was nice. The ambiance could be better, I think. Would be better with nicer floor, more separation between tables, more decorations (not just bare wall with a huge square clock). Service was great, it was fun. Expensive but good for a very special occasion.

Fantastic tea experience in festive atmosphere! The owner explained the different types of tea from the impressive selection list and we each had our own pot with a candle teapot warmer!!!! The food was delectable from the fresh Strawberry Bisque to the finger sandwiches, Snickerdoodle scones with clotted cream, and Chocolate delicacies (to name a few). Will definitely be going back!!!!

I had such a great experience when visiting Clockwork Rose Tea Emporium last year as a birthday celebration that I returned with three friends for a special ladies tea. It was an absolute delight from the friendly and helpful staff to the tea selections and amazing food. No one knows tea better than co-owner Harold Nolder. Not only has he curated an exceptional selection of teas to please any discerning palate, but he was kind enough to share his passion for tea with our party. Maggie Nolder's teatime salad, pastries and delicacies are, in this reviewers estimate, the best Portland has to offer. And hats off for providing a superb experience for a gluten-free guest. Loved the total experience--I'll be back!

When I first arrived, I was pleasantly greeted by staff and led to my table. Both owners came up to me at separate times. One to discuss the food, the other to describe the various teas. I settled on Absolem's dream. It starts off as indigo. When a bit of lemon juice is added, it turns purple . Both ways were fun to drink. I bought a tin to bring home.

I picked this tearoom to experience the steam punk decor. I wasn't disappointed. Most of the decorations were made by the owners. Don't miss the squid made of coins in the women's bathroom. If needed ask to take a look. There is also are two surprise guests waiting inside to greet you.

While the decor is steampunk, the food is traditional English fun with a twist. I had two scones. One was snickerdoodle. I don't remember the other. Both had a slightly hard outside with a softer inside. Just the way I like them.

Staff came by to check on me as well as to chat. I I would highly recommend this tea room. If I return to Portland, this would be a " must do" on my list.

Me and my mom have been wanting to go to this place for a while. If you’re into tea, I definitely recommend going there. And even if you don’t, you should go there for the experience. The food was super delicious and the tea was amazing. We spent about two hours eating and talking, and the service was awesome too. Everyone was incredibly nice, and the owners even went to apologize that their water- heater was taking too long, and therefore they took off some items from the bill. What a lovely place!

Fun place for tea. Great tea selection and atmosphere. The food was pretty good- the sausage rolls, quiche, macaroons, cucumber sandwiches and scones were great. The salmon sandwich was not my fave. However portion overall was generous and we left full with leftovers!

The high tea ticked every box with delightful scones, tea sandwiches and desserts. The odd thing was that although the restaurant is always completely booked out for months, the two times I've gone it's been empty apart from my table. The other odd thing is that a couple members of our group didn't show up but we were forced to purchase their high teas in addition to our own because according to the management, they'd already prepared the food. This made our visit extremely expensive which was very much a drag to those of us who did show up.

Thank you for your response, we are a small tea room, where everything is made in house based on your reservation. Preparing each item on the tower takes days to make, which is why we ask for a exact number. The only way we can keep the quality of the food and the service at its best is to limit the amount of people we serve each day. We only take about 40 people per day and less on Sunday's, as we close early those days. This is the reasons why we strictly adhere to our cancellation policy.

Really liked our experience here. A gal pal of mine and I have tea dates every year . . . this was a new place for us and we both agreed it was probably our favorite "spread" of everywhere we've been. Friendly and fast service and really great selection of tea as well. Would highly recommend.

Very fun and entertaining decor, and AMAZING food quality and variety, including traditional fare such as perfectly baked scones, clotted cream and lemon curd, as well as delicious mini-chicken pot pies and mini shepherds pie... perfectly executed, as well as many other selections - make sure you come hungry! The food and ambiance were great. Super fun decor, quiet dining. The most amazing thing was the tea master! I can’t recall his official title, but boy does he know his tea, and does a lovely job of sharing his knowledge. I went with my British sister-in-law (and tea-enthusiast brother) and we all were fascinated by the depth of his knowledge and learned all sorts of things about tea blending. He blends and sells their own teas. It was a delightful tea time! And the food was decadent too!

Clockwork Rose Tea Emporium is a fantastic experience! The owners have taken great pains to decorate the establishment in fine Victorian/Steampunk/Wonderland style (everything in its place, nothing cluttered), with décor that one of the owners either obtained via auctions, or created showing off their incredible skills (look at the portrait of the steampunk gentlemen to get an idea; it looks professionally done!). This place is definitely a labor of love and it excels.
The choice of teas is amazing as well. The owners scour the globe looking for unique flavors and blends, and the sources are a who's who of tea makers. They also create custom blends (I quite enjoyed the Wonderland tea) that are a treat for the palate!
Speaking of treats, the savory and sweet morsels that come with your tea are fantastic! Those tea cakes and sandwiches may look small, but we were completely stuffed before finishing the desserts. The edibles ranged from shepherd's pies and cucumber sandwiches, to spongecakes and chocolate delicacies. The owners take special care to avoid or accommodate any food allergies customers may have. The flavors burst from each entry; it's amazing how they make each edible bite-sized, yet taste like a whole "full portion" of food! And the service is timely and friendly, adding to the ambience of the place.
Clockwork Rose Tea Emporium is a fantastic place and is worth the visit! Definitely make sure you give yourself enough time to enjoy the experience; you won't want to rush this one. If Captain Nemo or Professor Cavor had a favorite hangout, it would be here!

We had a lovely ladies tea mid week day here! The food and tea were amazing...they worked with my special diet really well and made such yummy treats so I could go out to tea with my friends! The decor is fun...a mix of Mad Hatter and Victorian with lots of quirkiness thrown in! And the list of teas is enormous...the hardest part is choosing! (However, they bring each person a pot of tea, so you can share with your friends/family!) Highly recommend and I'll be back!
