When we arrived no one treated us, a manager past by without saying a word. Our server never came back to ask for if we wanted a refill. The food was bland.
Service was great, web site said formal attire and I don't understand why.
Great service and great food. Will definitely dine there again.
Nice view of river, friendly staff and all the food was really good.
Five of us went here for a Socially Distant birthday dinner. We ate on the patio and were able to sit at just the right place. Two of our party hadn't been to this location in 30 to 40 years :)
We had great food, service, ambiance and fun. I had the paella and while it seemed a bit different than I have had other places, it was excellent.
I highly recommend the Cliff House!
Went there Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary and the experience was wonderful. The food and service was awesome.
Our server Christin was attentive and friendly and even brought out a birthday treat even though we said it wasn’t necessary. The environment was quiet and beautiful, it was a perfect intimate celebration.
outdoor dining on the patio with a view of the river and lights of old folsom is perfect
The restaurant was closed and reservations were still allowed. Several people arrived with reservations made and had to leave.
All of the negative rating is not the fault of the Cliff House, but your poor app. We were somehow able to reserve a table, however, the app failed to mention that the restaurant was closed! Nice job!
It actually was very good! Quality of food great! Drinks great! Only thing negative
was their was no one to great us!
All around great dining experience.
Don’t tell everybody about it because we don’t want to share!
The view is awesome. Food is really good! Patio is the best seat anywhere!
The host was rude and uninviting. Table was requested outside and we were willing to wait but the host made it very clear that she wasn't accommodating us.
Loved the outdoor seating and the attentiveness of the staff. A must go place for a wonderful brunch!
There not 6 feet apart and the table were sticky
This was our first restaurant experience with COVID -- I called ahead and asked what precautions they were taking. I was told they were only seating every other table, performing temperature checks for staff on arrival, and all staff were wearing masks. We were seated outside (at our request). Our meals were good, but not *very* good. Not foodie level at all, but it is nice to have someone else prepare one's food. The masks were very inconsistent among staff. One staff member had his down on his beard every time we saw him (probably at least 5 occasions). Our server only had it covering her mouth about half of the time she was at our table. The most reliable mask wearer was probably the host, who had his on most all of the time (the level I had expected based on the call). Will we go there again? Probably not? Would I recommend it? It depends -- the view is nice, and the food is good enough. Without pandemic concerns, I would recommend it to my parents' friends, but not to foodies.
Our waiter was incredibly friendly and quick. She was the only wait person for 7 or 8 tables and did a fantastic job. The food was beautifully prepared and we really enjoyed it.
The food and service were great! Such a beautiful view from the deck!
Delicious food and great atmosphere. Loved the lemon drop martinis, coconut shrimp, and salmon BLT sandwich.
It was a very nice experience.. I hope they can open to full capacity soon.
We enjoyed our food and drinks, the view from our table was wonderful.
beautiful setting, excellent food (we both had salads). not busy which was odd since it is so good/
The restaurant is a bit dated, but the views are great looking out over the river. I had the salmon BLT and the salmon was very dry. The others at the table had no problem with their choices so perhaps it was just an off day for the salmon.
I would have given all 5 stars but when we arrived with a reservation no one was there to check us in. Several employees walked by us but never acknowledged we were there. Finally after about 15 minutes we were seated. It wasn’t crowded so don’t know why we were ignored for so long. Our server was really great though.
Had hi hopes but they failed at every turn. First I made a reservation and when I entered the building I waited for over 15 minutes without a staff member saying a word, and the place was near dead. The food was bland and nothing special at all. Or ordered the "spicy" jambalaya and there was zero spice, very bland. The only thing that was ok was the cocktail but even that was nothing special. I had high hopes with the ambiance but was disappointed with utter failure. Finally this place is way too expensive for the utter failure. I will not be returning.
We were very disappointed in this restaurant. The menu looked great but the food the very mediocre. I would not recommend this place or go back.
The only complaint is that they ran out of food. First there were no potatoes so rice was an available option. Upon delivery of our food we were informed they were out of rice. They did give us a discount on the meal, but it made for a not so perfect Dinner.
Our reservation was for 8:30, we were sat at 9:45pm. We drank in the bar, I tried to pay my tab multiple times to no avail I also had to wait at the bar to even get a drink while the bar tender was scolding the bar back. Very unprofessional. Once seated and FINALLY ordering we were told half the menu was no longer available. We should have been informed far earlier so we could choose another restaurant. Once the food arrived it was very sub par. This was our first time, we were very excited to spend our valentines here. We will not be back. :/
For a very busy day, it was excellent. Our reservations was at 8:15 and we weren’t seated until 9:00. By then they had run out of the featured entree of Halibut and also ran out of the potatoes and the rice. With that said, our evening was very enjoyable. The service is the bar while we were waiting was very slow in even acknowledging that we were there. The service in the dining room was excellent and very apologetic for the things that we couldn’t order. Our meals were wonderful even without the potatoes or rice! We will be back to try it on a not so busy evening!
Reservations were at 8, seated at 8:15 not bad.
We planned ahead and looked at the menu, ordered almost immediately after being seated. Food took about 30 minutes to arrive.
Our appetizer arrived the same time as our meals however.
Also, they did not inform us they were out of potatoes. So they replaced with Rice without telling us. Would of ordered something different had we known.
Otherwise everything was good.
Horribly understaffed on Valentine's. Lobby full of people waiting 30-45 min past reservation time while 30% of the tables were empty. Unapologetic staff, server made zero effort. Had a limited menu for Valentine's and still ran out of items by 7:30. this place is horribly managed. Would not recommend anything beyond maybe drinks on the deck in summer.
They didn’t seat us for 45 min after our reservation time, even though half the tables were empty. Then they were out of several menu items off the limited menu for that night, but didn’t tell us for over 30 minutes after we ordered. We had been waiting 90 minutes by then. Service was slow and unapologetic.
Very busy for Valentine's Day, but they managed it well.
They ran almost 30 mins late to seat us post reservation time. Food and service was a salvage.
Terrible experience. We went for Valentine’s Day and had probably the worst dining experience I have ever had. Our reservation was for 6:30pm, we finally got sat at 7:20pm. They were not staffed properly nor did their host have the disposition to be speaking to people (she was rude) and letting them know of the delayed seating.
Overall, just a terrible Valentine’s Day (that we flew in to celebrate with family) at Cliff House. On top of a crazy wait to be seated, the bartender was so awful when we got drinks while waiting and two of our four meals came out incorrect and VERY wrong (aka we got a pasta when we ordered a chicken dish). Just wish we wouldn’t have gone and saved our evening from almost three hours at the restaurant.
The only redeeming quality was our server (who said she’s been there for 20+ years “Christine” I think). She was fabulous. And the expo/helper was great.
Our first and last visit to the Cliff House of Folsom. We had a 6pm dinner reservation and arrived at, 5:55pm. We walked into the restaurant to find the entire waiting area, part of the bar and entrance to the eating area full of people. We checked in with the frantic hostess and was told, just a few to people to seat before you. So, we stood for a while and then sat down. We spoke to several people who were annoyed at having to wait so long for their reservation. So, at 6:30pm I checked in with the hostess again. She again said a few more people to seat before you. Finally, we were seated at 6:50pm. There were so many empty tables we couldn’t believe it! The waiting area was still full of people waiting. At least we were given a window table. Our waitress came to our table. No personality at all. We ordered our meals and my husband a beer. The salad arrived with nothing in it and the lettuce was limp. I asked our waiter for fresh pepper. She said she didn’t know if they had any? What? It took 20 minutes for my husband beer to arrive. It was a Breaking Bud on draft. It was flat! Our dinner arrived about 45 min after we ordered. My husband ordered a New York Steak and I the Halibut. My husband’s mashed potatoes and vegetables were cold. The steak was not a New York! My Halibut had a strange taste. I’m very familiar with fish especially fish from the sea. This fish tasted like a fresh water fish and my vegetables were cold. To be honest, we couldn’t wait to get out of there. We were so disappointed. Very poor management and certainly not prepared for Valentines Day.
With reservation waited for 30 min, but there were probably 15 to 20 open tables. On valentine's day there was a special menu because kitchen could not handle what I would call a Monday night at applebees. We waited for 30min more for service and 30min more for food. My daughters hamburger came out 10min after the rest of food and when she went to eat it found paper in the burger. Other than the nice views over the river I would call this the worst restaurant we have been to in 20 years and we eat out 3 times a week.
Excellent service to go with the excellent view. Thanks for a great first impression.
Bad smell upon entrance. Serving sizes were too small for the price. Fish and chips was more like gortons fish sticks w 5 french fries. Apps were ok calamari but again too few. Drinks were fine. Server had great attitude but was understaffed she was busy even though restaurant was half full. Will not return.
