Clement Ratings and Reviews
The waiter forced to serve bubble water instead of tap. He was pushy for extra order. I asked to refill my teapot with hot water he came with an fresh pot of tea. It’s very strong and cost me extra money.
Food was bad. We ordered halibut special. Fish was tough. Waiter didn’t ask how we like it. Rare or medium rare. It was dry and tough and tasteless. Not worth the money.
The server is not following our orders. Too bad.
The staff, especially including Austin, was attentive and helpful. Service was wonderful. Food delicious. We were there for a birthday but pricey if just an ordinary lunch (eg, Ceasar Salad with chicken was $35). However portions were generous. And they accosted a special order/substitution. Great atmosphere. Good time.
Clement offered an exceptionally elegant evening--in every dimension. The staff was professional, courteous, informative, and gave us just the right amount of attention. The meal was delicious and beautifully-presented. Among four of us, we ordered roast chestnut veloute (sublime), tuna tartare, foie gras, roast duck, and roast chicken. Everyone was more than pleased with his/her selection and the portions were large. We didn't sample any of the fish offerings, but will certainly make those a priority on our next visit.
I selected this restaurant for a special occasion and my request for a corner table was noted upon my arrival. We were offered a perfect table, in the first room, in a corner. I highly recommend this restaurant and its maitre'd in particular. Thank you everyone at Clement for a lovely evening!
My friend & I were visiting New York City before attending a show and decided that we would try your restaurant based on reviews. The staff was very friendly and accommodating with dietary issues. The atmosphere was nice and the selection of wines were good. My friend had the rack of lamb and was very disappointed. In fact she took a few bites, said the spices were overpowering and unpleasant and had the waiter take it away. I had the Sea Bass and was also very disappointed. It was a bit dry and it lacked flavor. We spent over $200.00 and felt the meal was not a good value because we walked away still hungry.
Beautiful restaurant. Great for any occasion. The cocktails were creative. I had Christmas in Barbados. It was delicious. The food was very good tasting and a good size portion. I would recommend roaming around the hotel and make your way to the rooftop bar after dinner. The service was also exceptional.
We were celebrating our anniversary in the City and started off having cocktails in the bar on the 20th floor of the Peninsula Hotel. This spot is a Perfect way to start the evening. We then went downstairs to Clement which was an amazing dinnerThe ambiance and the service were great, along with our delicious dinner. We will be back.
Always an experience when we go. It's a regular place for us. We have been visited more than 30 times over the past few years. They always provide the best service. Suggestions from the staff (Marco) are always spot on. Marco knows exactly what we are there for. Wine selection is fabulous. Will continue to go to Clement for a very long time.
Situated in the peninsula hotel place. Classic with very beautiful and modern hall way. I loved the environment a little more than the food itself. Had tasting menu and loved the starters which was different from what was stated on online menu. Pan fried hudson valley foie gras is great as well. Not a big fan for the fish with pouched beans beneath. Recommend for special occasions or date.
Although the hotel and the decor were absolutely 4 star, the food was not. It was very standard fare for being pricey, even for Manhattan standards. Having eaten at Michelin restaurants all over the world, I dare say this place needs to up its game in terms of actual menu items and the flavors they create. I was saddened to spend nearly $400 for the four of us and not feel I had an adequate value for my money. The service was outstanding however, kudos to the management in terms of keeping the staff extremely attentive and professional. Now go work on the menu and dishes that allows you to remain in the caliber hotel lobby you currently occupy.
Excellent food, but one major problem. My father required "handicap" entrance to this restaurant, and that required going down a few stairs, around a corner, into an elevator, up to another floor, across a small lobby and into, I kid you not, a freight elevator to go up one more half-floor to the restaurant. We got stuck in the freight elevator, which stumbled up and down a few times before an agent opened the door to exit. Dear manager: Fabulous, highly-rated, expensive hotel--is this the best you can do for handicap access? Really? It should embarass you.
Visited again and this time for a pre- concert dinner. Great service from management staff to servers, the gem being Marco, who remembered us from our previous visit.
Loved all the dishes served, in terms of freshness , quality, portion size , preparation and presentation.
It's a hidden gem and rare to find a restaurant that pampers you well before the highlight of the evening begins.
The beef Bourgogne was the best I have ever had. Nicely presented and tasty. The best part was that the meat melts in my mouth.
The peach Melba dessert with vanilla penna cotta was delicate n refreshing.
Soup was served piping hot and so was the hot water. Irma a simple and basic thing but I am amazed that so many restaurants serve these luke warm.
Wonderful Experience made special by the service staff especially Louie and Marco.
They remembered us from prior visits and made us feel very comfortable without being stuffy.
One of the best service experiences we've had and we've been to many 4 star restaurants.
We also liked the no corkage promotion that night.
Highly recommend for fine adult dining.
The Clement is one of my absolute favorite dining locations in mid-town for just about any occasion. I take my very best clients here for business dinners and I also take my employees for special milestones such as promotions or team planning meetings. The food is always perfect and the presentation is artful. Many of my guests will snap a pic of their food before eating because it looks so pretty. Finally . . . the host and service staff are top notch. Very knowledgeable, always patient and helpful and they often check-in to make sure everyone's needs are being met.
Lovely, calming and quiet atmosphere with comfortably spaced tables. Definitely a perfect place to go for quiet conversation and a relaxing ambiance. We were both very pleased with the food - watermelon gazpacho, wild sea bass and salmon. The fish cooked perfectly with flavorful accompaniments. Excellent service. We will definitely return.
We went for the restaurant's week and we took the menu, very disappointing. It was freezing in the restaurant, people were warring jackets and pull-over in the middle of the summer. The food was average. I will not go back to try their expensive tasting menu for sure. The service was great!
Nowadays, it's difficult to find a nice restaurant where the noise level is not high. When you are trying to have a business discussion, you don't want to have to shout so you can be heard. Clement gave us space and a comfortable environment in which we could talk. Combined with good food, service, and beautiful surroundings, that made us want to return.
We had a very enjoyable dinner before the theater on our recent trip to New York City. We were staying at the Peninsula Hotel where the restaurant is located and thought we would try it. It turned out to be a very good decision. The steak that I had was delicious along with the crab cocktail. My husband had the risotto with scallops and equally enjoyed his dish. We both had the chocolate macaroon dessert and loved that also. The service was excellent and we had a nice dinner not rushed at all and had plenty of time to make it to the theater I would highly recommend the restaurant. It is a little on the pricey side but for the ambiance and the quality of the food and service it is very well worth it if you want to have a special dinner.
Yet another fabulous meal at Clement. The food seems to get better and better thanks to the oversight of Chef Fredric in the kitchenit's creative, beautifully presented and very tasty! The front of the house has always been outstanding. We are always treated as if we were special guests in a restaurant and hotel that hosts many prominent people! Special thanks go to Laurent and Marco who have made of evenings at Clement truly special events, even when we are just there to take advantage of restaurant week!
I attended specifically because of restaurant week. The food, wine recommendation and service was exceptional. The restaurant is inside the Peninsula hotel. I am usually apprehensive about restaurants in hotels, but they quickly allayed my concerns.
