Welcome to Clay's Kitchen & Bar, and we look forward to serving you.
Our food is modern Hyderabadi cuisine ( a southern region of India) and some exciting small plates from different streets and homes of all the regions of India.

Our food has received praise from Jay Rayner, Grace Dent, William Sitwell, and Tom Parker Bowles and excellent reviews in the Guardian, Observer, and Delicious magazine, among others.

We are also a pub so you can come in for drinks.

    I love having an authentic Indian like Clay’s in Reading and have had so many great meals there but last night was just insanely spicy. My wife and I both ordered dishes we’ve had previously and enjoyed (and which have no indication on the menu they will be spicy) and couldn’t finish them as they were so hot.

    The food never disappoints - the pork belly and lamb chop starters are stand-out, as are the beef and goat mains. Also a great selection of high quality wines and beers.

    Food is great and service good. HOWEVER, the experience is spoiled by the very intrusive and unnecessary generic pop/rock playlist music, which - unbelievably - is even piped into the loos. This significantly detracts from rather than enhances the experience, and cheapens the brand. If you absolutely have to have background music, I would suggest 'dinner jazz' as a classier, less annoying presence.

    Excellent food and great atmosphere, unfortunately a little slow in service, but that didn't detract from an enjoyable experience

    This was one of the best meals we’ve had at Clay’s. We loved every dish and even sampled two desserts which were excellent. A lovely evening.

    The food was absolutely wonderful. Full of flavour & lots of spice. The curries we had (monk fish and a chicken dish) were quite oily but that was over looked as the taste was delicious! The potato sides were the best I’ve had
