About Clay Oven
The cuisine at the Clay Oven is about transforming tradition and old techniques while retaining the flavor profile to make them relevant to the present times and lifestyle. Food progresses and changes over time in presentation, technique, and tastes, and we consistently strive to move Indian cuisine forward into the present. For the past 32 years we have attempted to modernize our dishes while keeping the Ayurvedic principles intact. Our menus are tied to the seasons and what is growing around us in order to bring out the fullest flavors and to allow guests to savor our food. We serve a large selection of game including venison, wild boar, rabbit, duck, alpaca, quail and elk, all easily paired with drinks selected by our Certified Sommelier. Fruits and vegetables in season appear alongside our organic herbs grown in our own garden. There is no fusion of cuisines, just a fun and creative Indian experience created for our guests.

Clay Oven Ratings and Reviews
Continuing amazing experience at this restaurant! The food is awesome, our favorites (at the moment) are the Chicken Tikka Masala (a MUST try - the best we've ever had, anywhere in the world), the sword fish (melts in your mouth), and the pork chop (unbelievably tender and tasty for a piece of meat of the size we received). It took a while to get our food when we were there last, but the wait was worth it! Don't forget to ask about the special beers - there are always a number waiting to be served :-). Enjoy!
We had a very pleasant dinner. We are vegetarian and, in addition to the many meat dishes featured on the menu, there was a nice selection of vegetable entrees. The Brussels sprout and cauliflower dishes were particularly notable. The host was attentive, and we enjoyed chatting with him about this family business.
This was our first visit to clay oven and we loved it. We have only been to one other high end Indian restaurant in OC but the food was unforgettable and terribly spicy. While the food here was lightly spicy, it was so full of flavor that the little bit of heat only accentuated the flavors. For those who like intense heat, those options also exist on the menu or if you ask, but this is the best Indian restaurant we have ever been to. The wine list is excellent and moderately priced, and we found an impressive Rhone blend that was probably the best wine for the value we have recently had in a restaurant. No surprise with two sommelers on staff. Very impressed and looking forward to our next visit!
Fabulous dinner for wife and me. All dishes were excellently prepared and presented. The wagyu tomahawk bone-in ribeye for was superb and cooked a perfect medium rare. Brussel sprouts and okra on the side were incredible. Service was attentive, well paced and never rushed or intrusive. All we could ask for in a restaurant.
I absolutely love this restaurant! What an amazing, spectacular experience. We booked a table for a special occasion and received a gorgeous corner setting for our celebration. A friendly warm greeting, excellent attention to each and every detail, and food that is beyond compare. Definitely my favorite Indian restaurant. Can't wait to come back! Thank you for the perfect evening!
When you visit a restaurant at this price point, you expect a certain experience when it comes to ambience, service, food quality, and presentation. On our recent visit to the Clay Oven they not only met, but exceeded our expectations. A truly fine dining yet informal experience with attentive and friendly service, without any feeling of "stuffiness". Food was amazing. Our dishes were beautifully presented and delicious, rivaling the best Indian cuisine I have had in New York or London. Pairing recommendations by the manager/somm were spot on, with fun tastings of "dessert beers" as well. Intimate, exceptional restaurants such as this are rare these days, which made us appreciate our visit even more.
